- This is one of the most treacherous waterways in Houston and it's hiding massive, meat eating fish! How big do these monsters get?

I started watching your videos last year based off of one of your big gar catches. Lived in the greater HTX area most of my life. I really enjoy your vids man.
But in my house, there is no greater fan than my 4 year old daughter. Almost every weekend we make a bit of a drive to get great breakfast tacos and donuts. She knows that she can ask to watch fishing videos (yours) on these drives and loves them. So far when I go out with her we just catch some bluegills and the like but I know she liked going so much in no small part from watching your content with me.
Thank you for the work you do on the channel and I look forward to helping her catch some cats out there with even more excitement than she gets out of watching you bag em.
That's awesome man, I'll try to watch my language a little more, lol
Tell her I said "hi" and yall have fun out there!
That was sweet! Spots like that are absolute gems that get overlooked and underestimated! Good work not busting your bum on that slick stuff
For sure, these urban bayous are fire
What a beast! Monster fish indeed - you did great to snag him!👏🏻👏🏻
Thanks!
I was fishing this same stretch a little closer to the highway yesterday and I hooked up with something that I thing was a shark. I know that sounds crazy but I catch gar there all the time. This fish did not break my line or was it pulling comparatively harder than a 3 to 4 footer. It literally bit through my steel lead like butter after maybe 2 minutes of fight. It hasn't even made it's strong run yet. Just bit clean shear through! I've caught 6 footers with my steel leaders. That waterway links up to the ship channel so it's possible as I've caught red and black saltwater drum out of there. I'll never know and it could have been a gar but the only time that's ever happened to me was with a shark or one time where I accidently hooked a dolphin.
Definitely a possibility
Looks like a good time to add a scythe and ladder to the gear😉
Great catch, as ever!
awesome fight!
What an amazing Blue that was! Great catch. 👏👏👏
Thanks!
Another great vid. Try climbing shoes for those steep canal walls...better grip material and more contact surface. Keep up the good work.
Will definitely look into that
Hey man nice catch wish we had monsters like that in HK rivers
I was wondering after he bit down on your hand if you had him OR did he have you...lol nice big cat
A little of both
Ha ha!.... great fishing...out of there!...super fish!...what a place to cast a line..
Thanks!
106k subs wow man I've been here since before 10k I think, so proud of how far you've come.
I am 97% sure that that's a giant Channel Cat instead of a Blue. I know its rare to get channels that big but it doesn't have the right colors or fins to be a blue cat. Great catch tho!!
It’s a blue
Coloration doesn’t mean much for identifying cats. This fish indeed looks like a channel but the anal fin is the only way to correctly identify between channel and blue catfish.
Sickle or machete territory. Chigger city fishing. Nice catch.😎
Nice fish
Thanks!
Nice catch City of Houston parks and recreations needs to mow the grass
Another great video bro!!
Thanks!
Excellent catch !! I would become addicted to your type of fishing if I lived in Texas!👍 Hey, I know this is not practical, and would be extra hot in the summer, but, might I suggest wearing a life jacket when you go to those steep, slippery drainage bayous. Like myself, you fish alone most of the time. If you slipped in there, it might be impossible to crawl out. I know how slippery any kind of stone gets when wet. I have taken my share of nasty spills at the river. 🤣👍 Only, where I fish, it does not include those steep, slippery slopes.
Better check for ticks.
For sure
haha is this at Braes Bayou near Brompton and Kirby... pretty sure I see my old apt. Solid Fish!!! theres gators in there also haha
That was an EXCELLENT video! Your fishing adventures are great. I'm not in Texas, but I'm close. I am going to get a Texas fishing license.
Thanks man, definitely get some fishing here in Texas!
Very Nice!
That's a HAWG!
Nice fish yo 👌 made me itch just watching u run through that brush
Looks Filmore the Beltway Bandits Mat 😜
Very nice catch!
Beautiful nice blue cat, congrats 😃😃
Thanks!
I almost fell into the bay at night .. made my heart skip a beat!
Scary stuff
That was an awesome catfish.
😎🎣🐟
Thanks!
Great Catch! Do you think something like korkers would help?
Maybe a bit much for this, not sure. Someone suggested climbing shoes, which I might look into
WOW NICE ONE 🐟
Nice job bud!
I caught one about 90 Lbs at a Texas dam, long time ago.
That would be a sight to see, haven't been able to break the 50lb mark on a catfish yet
@@wildlifefishingshow
Truth is I would not have caught that fish if it were not for my brother-in- law, he could cast about 200 yards, he was the one that got it up to the dam from the spot you can't cross, and it's about 200 yards from the dam, it was a battle reeling it in.
How deep is that by chance do you know????
Love your videos BBBRRRROOooooo 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Depending on how high the water is based on rain and such it fluctuates between six feet at the lowest to about ten feet at the highest.
Wow! Good stuff!
Thanks!
That’s a very nice blue 💯❤️🔥👊🏽💥🇺🇸
One of my best yet
Epic fish!
Awesome fish
Thanks!
Big beautiful Blue!
One of the best I've caught
I need to try my luck out there.. dying to catch some blues or gators!! Don’t know where to access it however lol.
Nice catch now don't forget to check for tics after being inong grass
💯
I subscribed today
Payton in your experience will these cats and gar you are catching eat a bait which does not live in their ecosystem? For instance would they eat cut ladyfish or a pinfish?
I know catfish love shrimp. I've used saltwater caught mullet in freshwater with good luck.
@@johnchance2340 yes i've caught freshwater cats with shrimp too. literally everything eats it.
Funny you ask because I literally just filmed (still editing) a video about exactly this. Short answer, yes. Long answer in a few days 👍
Nice fish!
Thanks!
Nice my biggest blue was 63lbs
Good fight. 👍
Thanks!
amazing fishing..
Thanks!
Got a black drum yesterday
I might use this reel for beach halibut fishing
It's a great reel
Maybe run a bush hog and Troll for Fish 🤔🪘😜👍
Good fish
Thanks!
i can take you to some spots on the Mississippi river where you catch them this big regularly. and much bigger
The Mississippi intimidates me a bit but I'd love to get out there
AMAZING
Pretty blue
Average people, like myself, would be calling it a day after that battle and not catch the rest of the fish you presumably landed that day lol
Hey we really enjoy your videos, can you please not slip and get speared on rebar? This one was scary to watch! Also, great catch!
I will definitely try not to do that 👍
Why you use spinning reel with conventional rod?
It's a spinning rod. Denali Bottom Feeder medium heavy spinning rod.
Gonna be looking to get the captain 8000 in the near future
It's a great reel for sure
What size line do you reccomend for it?
Does this reel have an aluminum body or something?
Yes it does, it really is an awesome reel. Runs on the smaller side kinda like Shimano, so an 8000 Captain is about the size of a 5000 Penn reel.
You not scared of snakes in that grass ?
🐍
🐍
Not really
Yeah😂 , I thought it might be a case of hooking a fish but paying a price walking thru that tall grass.
Hurts my body just watching
I'm always in pain. It's not going on the main channel (it'll be in a Patreon video) but I recently had a piece of pectoral fin break off in my wrist. Had to use pliers...
Looks like you need to carry battery powered weed wacker!!
Moments like that make me wish lightsabers were real
Man....u know that grass is snake infested
why did you wait till you were in the tall grass instead of setting the hook and fighting it in the lower grass?
Thought it could be an alligator gar, needed to let it run. By the time I saw how far he went the line was curving around the concrete and I had to get closer to keep it off snags.
Nice catfish
Thanks!
is there a way to find out when the cut the grass?
Not that I'm aware. Always seems random to me.
10 of those and you can throw your neighbors a fish fry!
Don't risk your life for a fish. Please be careful.
For sure
Wow..
Amazing fight with big Fish
Thanks!
What rod is that ????
Denali Bottom Feeder medium heavy
@@wildlifefishingshow sweet I appreciate it I’ll have to get me some to try out
You might to pick up a weed whacker.
3rd
Здорово! 👍
Thanks!
@@wildlifefishingshow Good fishing hello from Russia.
🎣
Next giant fish i catch am bbq for the whole trailer Park and just to say thank u yo God
What brand of rod is that
Denali Bottom Feeder
@@wildlifefishingshow thanks...who makes it
@@rondoofnightmare775 Denalirods
www.denalirods.com/bottomfeeder-2.aspx
I'm using the medium heavy in this video, used the heavy action in most of my other big gar videos
Buy a pair of golf spike shoes bro tracktion for days ...
Grab gills on that blue. I got tired of bleeding
One wonders WHY he didnt fish from the other side where the grass is short hahahahaha
Because the construction makes it harder to access from where I park and there are fewer good landing zones anyway.
Familiar 😄🤔🤔🤔🪘🪘👍 The Beltway Bandits Mat Link Tree The Beltway Bandits 🤔👍🪘😜
i know stupid...nice fish..when we did slate roofing back in 70s...we bang big metal hook into peak...wrap the rope around a leg..and slide back and forth..stupid by tidays OSHA laws..but it might work there..
A baby one got one the same day last year this one bigger
You shouldn't been so dramatic, you could have flopped him on shore.
Arm chair quarterback it up buddy, I love it
You need some snake boots.
I need something tough but flexible, waterproof, and doesn't slip on wet concrete
I don't know what that is but I need it
👀👀👀👀
50lbs? 60?
I was thinking mid thirties
You've been catfished.
Lol
Set the damn hook already your giving me anxiety.
Yeah that's why I was trying to run, it skirted a curve in the bayou and I didn't have a straight shot to tighten the line. I was sure I lost it.
Easy 40 lbr
Definitely in the mid 30s for sure, maybe my PB blue
Bubbles Don't Care he loves shopping carts Trailer Park Boys?🤔🪘😜👍😜😜😜👍🪘🪘
