- How to brush embroider a cake with Royal icing.
Brush embroidery makes a really impressive pattern on any cake and best of all its easy to do!
Ideal for wedding cakes and gives a lovely vintage lace look to both cakes and cookies!
Best of all you don't need loads of fancy equipment to make this! You just need a piping tube and bag! You can watch how to make a piping bag in my other You Tube video • How to make a piping b... . Hope you enjoy this video. Please feel free to message me with any thing else you would like to see.

Had to watch again! So beautiful! You are a great cake decorater. xxxx
Looked lovely, thankyou for this tutorial.
Hi Zoe, I absolutely love your videos, since I discovered you a few months back I watch your videos regularly, often repeatedly as you make it so easy & enjoyable to watch! I would love if you would do a video on how to make Irish dancing shoes, even better if they were with the socks attached, I don't expect you to have time to do this but if you are ever looking to do something like this I would be so grateful to see. Many thanks for sharing your talent & knowledge, I've learned so much & you are more often than not my 'go to' tutorial for anything I have to make! most sincerely, Jennifer (huge Irish fan!)
+Jenny Kelly Thanks so much for watching my tutorials Jenny, I appreciate all the support! I will add them to my list of requests but I should warn you it's about 8 pages long so it might be a long time before I can get to them! I will keep them in mind though :)

Just a tip, you may already know it, stick a damp cloth or paper towel between the board and countertop and the board wont try to escape as easy ;)
Thank you, I have another brush embroidery video going live in the next hour so be sure to check it out :)
Thanks for the tip!
Sorry for the constant questions but wanted to confirm it's the purple packet that says all in one royal icing sugar?

Hi zoe, can you please make a detailed tutorial on how to make the cake (with the embroidery) that looks like a box with a lid? For a round cake... From start to finish... I'm not sure how to do the lid... Please help!
Could you do a tutorial on the second tiered cake with the stripes? It looks so clean! I love it :)
sallyhah mach I have a striped cake video coming soon which might be helpful, Keep an eye out for it . It might be up in 2 weeks ish
I really love this effect. Your display cake is beautiful. Can you tell me did you just use powdered Royal Icing and make it up with water? Thanks
+Karen punnett Hi Karen, thanks for watching, to make the royal icing I did just add water yes :)
Hi, can you tell me how you did the second tier? Is it piped or rolled fondant, the whole thing looked lovely.
Hello, it's rolled fondant , I made two colours and cut thin strips and stuck them on the cake :)Thank you.
Very effective
Loved the tutorial, i was wondering, do you have a royal icing recipe?
Thank you! I am afraid I don't have any recipes no.
I have another brush embroidery video coming next week so keep an eye out :)
Could you possibly do a tutorial on how you did the lace effect on the bottom layer of the cake? Thanks
Hi Kady, I used a stencil on the bottom layer, but as soon as I get chance I will do a video for it x
Thanks, that'd be great. Do you happen to remember where you got your stencil from or was it a random amazon buy?
KadyJ204 sorry just seen your message, I got the stencil from here tinyurl.com/k74u2cf
Can I do it on the cream cake instead of fondant?
Really lovely. Thanks for the tutorial. New subby:)
Thanks so much
Sorry I know someone asked but I'm in the uk and the boxed icing sugar you mention is it the same as the powdered sugar I think it's by Tate and Lyle I just add water to it
Sorry just seen this comment. Yes your talking about the right one :)

Hi White on white is a bit difficult to see clearly. Thank you. Just a thought.
Can i use whipping cream instead of royal icing ????thx n advance
Over fondant whip cream will not hold
you make it so simple looking, I am nervous about the piping part.
Hi, can you please give me a recipe for royal icing, so i know what consistency i need to create brush embroidery?
Hi Louise, I buy the boxed royal icing and add water in the quantities on the box, it then needs thinning down a bit, but I'm afraid there is no exact amount, its a case of adding a few drops of water at a time and checking the consistency. When you stir it it should move back slowly rather than staying at peaks, if it goes back to being smooth quickly it is probably too runny. I'm not sure I've explained it very well, but if you have a look at this site they explain about the different consistencies really well. www.sweetsugarbelle.com/2012/03/consistency-is-key-twenty-second-icing-and-more/ Hope that helps. Thanks
Wish the camera was closer so we could actually see the brush strokes.
Sorry about that. The camera seems to lose focus when I zoom in and it's hard to line it up right when I am on my own. I will try making another embroidery video in the future but closer :)

Hi Louise, your comment about making a present seems to have disappeared :(
It might be a while before I get chance to make a video on how to make a present decorated in brush embroidery. but I literally used the cake in the video and added a strip of fondant all the way around the top edge. I then added the brush embroidery patterning to it x
Hi Zoe please can you tell me what patern that is on the bottom tier and if you have a tutorial for that one ?
Thanks Bev Murray x
Hi Bev, thanks for watching my brush embroidery tutorial, unfortunately I do not have a tutorial on the striped if that's what you meant x
Thanks for your quick reply Zoe but the patten I'm interested in is the very bottom tier ! Is it a damask patten?
Sorry Bev my mistake. Yes it is a damask pattern, unfortunately I do not have a tutorial on it at this moment in time :(
Oops sorry not Tate and lyle I meant silver spoon and realised u r in England so u know what I mean lol am I talking about the right product
Maybe you can move the camera closer to what you're doing.
+H Sigua Sorry, it can be extremely difficult to get things in shot, I do the best I can. Thanks for watching.
