Yeah , pretty cool the old ZH Fairlane , i was a mechanic in a ford dealer back in that era also did a stretch in a holden dealer , we had a lot of cool cars back in the mid to late 60`s and 70`s , 80`s were ok too , but starting to get a bit more civilised .
When Australians could be funny and make good cars. Also the girls are pretty without tattoos, active wear and massive backsides. Happy times. Thanks for the laughs Hoges.
Miss the good old days before that beast called political correctness rose up and killed comedy forever RIP Paul hogan show, fast forward/full frontal and of course Kingswood country.😢
I never knew Paul Hogan had a tv show, tho it doesn't really surprise me. I was thinking " why don't we see Australian comedians?" Guess you just have to look a bit harder than you do for British comedians.
It was very popular in the UK back in the 1980s. It was one of the first shows for the new Channel Four. Channel Four launched on 2nd November 1982 and The Paul Hogan Show was one of the main attractions for launch night. Used to be on Friday nights at 9.00 or 10.00 pm. I Loved it.
You didn't miss much, the Paul Hogan show was a pure Benny Hill ripoff. We also had "The Aunty Jack Show", which was a diabolical Monty Python ripoff. The funniest comedian of that era was Gary MacDonald as Norman Gunston, which you have probably seen already.
I really wanted a ZH Fairlane, back in the day. In Aus I don't think they attained much of a level of cool in the 90s. But they were uncommon in NZ, so I wanted a ZH in NZ in the 90s. Never managed it.
The only thing that hasn't changed, is the amount of plastic disposable trash, ppl generate whenever they're on holidays & then leave it spread over their picnic or short stay accommodation.. 🤨
From my personal experiences it's the office workers who seem to have no sense of humour in Australia. You are inferior if you show humour. It's all about being in control of yourself. No outward emotions.
Iconic for the times. I went into a shop a couple of years ago and asked if they sold stubbies. The guy told me they weren't a bottle shop. I really didn't know what to say to that.
I always thought it odd that a Benny Hill copycat got all the hollywood kudos whilst Benny Hill himself didn't appear to get any whilst a great actor as well.
Apart from the sped up skits, the rest of Hogan's repertoire wasn't a Benny Hill knock off. His characters were pure Aussie and original, and in my opinion superior to Benny and they stand the test of time. The Hoges and Strop double act had nothing to do with Benny Hill.
@@lyndoncmp5751 One trick pony huh. nah that's what PC types say whilst the wealth of Bennys creativity speaks for itself, over 100 countries ordered his show and LOADS of entertainers copied him, Sad how certain types are so desperate to make sure credit isn't given where due.
If only we could go back to those times. Thanks Hoges.
We just did!
Being funny was a bonus. Like every young man who watched this back in the day, the real reason we watched was Delvene Delaney 👍👍👍👍
And Strop!
John Cornell was a lucky bloke
You're right Delvene made many a sleepless night
I remember Delvene in the TV show called "The Box". Kept giving 2 good reasons to watch.
When labour were the working class, not the not working class
Paul Hogan the Australian Benny Hill.
That's who hogan stole most of his jokes from
@dearbrad1996 yes I thought the same thing.
He was a painter on the Sydney Harbor maintenance crew. He was naturally funny and collected jokes. Then he had the balls to put it all together.and... voila
@Suzannah4Christ yes you're correct,he put himself out there and deserves the rewards.
Ah yes, All jokes are a variation or an inspiration of another joke. It’s still original enough to hold its own. Thoroughly enjoyed it, classic times of my childhood.
Best ever, love those times. Now we get really bad reality TV attempts to make us feel like we are watching something meaningful. Paul Hogan show 😊.
Cant beat Aussie humour. THE BEST. ♥️
@ozzeelady6029 you only say that because real humour would go straight over your little head

Inspired by Benny Hill.
How I'd love to go back to those times thanks for all the laughs Hoges your a legend
I miss these days..Australia ain't what it use to be ...
I note your comment was when the flasher started showing his self 😂
Those folding card tables with the vinyl top - unchanged for decades!
We had that air pump drink cannister, foam esky, webbed folding chairs, even the big heavy petrol guzzling car... Oh so 70s.
Love the car in this sketch

You could probably fit all that stuff in the boot of a fairlane
Never mind the sheilas with no bras on. The car is what does it for you, - good on ya.
@@mikldude9376 There was a TE 1978 Ford Cortina in there too, I had one as a young fella same model.

We had the same, ford fairlane, the same table the same Esky, the same chairs and the old man were the same shorts and the same socks. What a memory.
Delaney is breathtaking
I remember picnic days like that in the 70's with my family....
Muistot tulevat mieleen. Hyvä ajanjakso elämässä/ maailmassa. Olen vieläkin Paul Hogan vitsien fani. Nerokkaita monet.
That was pretty funny... As humour was at one time.... Also a Fairlane and a Cortina !
Wow. Almost forgot how popular flashing was back then.
