Yo Peter, you should do an experiment where you make an entire new Instagram that has no ties to you. Make it anonymous, build it up, and say after a month report back what worked and what didn’t. I’d love to see that process.
He literally said that in the video about what worked!😂
Sa me
That’s what @petespiratelife is

Ahh Peter got that early 2017 "8 Camera HACKS in 90 SECONDS" hair goin on.
Jeez, I actually remember when that video first went up! Crazy how quickly time flies . . .
That sphere analogy just made my brain create a thousand ideas for new content! Thanks Pete!!
I got a craving for water, watching this.. 😅
This is what makes Peter stand out from the rest. He's never aimed at gaining followers or subscribers but instead remains humble and teaches us to do the same.
For anyone wanting to save time
1. Have a theme/niche whatever you call it.
Basically have an aesthetic feed
2. Post great content that you're *actually passionate about*
3. Post consistently
That's it. Nothing new. He made 3 simple things 12 minutes long for ads so he can earn.
Thank you so much!

Who else is hyped for Pete to hit 5M!!
Jremy S 🙋🏻♂️
Yep!! And I have no doubt he will get there in no time!!😎😎😎
Hell yeah!
Yea. He got his first 1 million from Casey, then he was more relevant on youtube and now he goes up on it's own. I subbed waaaay before he had 1 million and that happened because of Casey.
So the point is that he had subs before that, but he wouldn't be here "if".
Like the son of an actor :) A normal guy against the son. And the son would talk about how to get there. I mean.. Come on..
@@moo8698 that's really funny. I subscribed to him because of one of his first videos (I think it was his second or third vlog and of course because of the photography related content) and then I saw him with Casey and other youtubers and I was like "wait what? How cool is this dude? " and since that I'm addicted to his videos.
Meeting PM would be a dream come true.. He is a LEGEND ❤❤
This is a really really great video! All of your videos from how to Vlog, to camera reviews, creative advice - there is no bs, no formula - it is so refreshing & it just feels like a conversation with a friend.

8:57 Real talk from Peter. (Perhaps the best part of the video starts here)
My friend and I started a 365-day challenge. Where we post 1 photo a day, we happen to do photography, for a year. It has helped me grow more than I ever expected and not much in followers but to understand what types of photos I like to take and helped grow my photography skills. Not everyone is phenomenal but I have started getting some awesome shots that I enjoy!
So how do you know what to shoot? I wanna up my game and learn more. Wish I had someone to intern with. Or is there like a app for it? I just get so mixed up with everything I don't know what to do :'). What is your instagram btw? I am curious to what you made.

We’re getting to new levels of greatness here! Loved this. 😀
This is a whole new level of social distancing confrontation... consistency, patience and hardwork!
Peter has really helped me with photography and filmmaking, and so many of my friends have come to me asking where to go to begin learning how to make videos like I do, or take photos like I do, and I immediately send them Pete's channel (and to Matti). It's awesome seeing my friends also get into video and learn from Pete.
This is our year guys, let’s get out there and start creating!
Hector Ochoa this really has not been our year tho
Krishpy I agree, but let’s still get out there !!
I think the biggest point is just to enjoy making content. It’s so hard if you have the wrong motivation and it makes your mind go fully in the wrong direction in generall.
You have helped me so much. Im a graphic designer and now I want to do what you do. God Bless You Peter.
i have been working on my business as a filmmaker/photographer for 5 years, i am still doing that, still learning having fun still going hard for it.

still renting cameras to work, to take my own personal photos and all but it does not matter i am happy! with what i am doing !! and peter i really appreciate that you take from your time to spread the knowledge !!
Peter has taught me so many things and with the help of that I have grown my presence in every social media platforms 😄

Your passion comes through your photos and videos for sure, and that is why I watch. I started watching for the content. I kept watching for the passion. There is so much negativity in the world, your channel is often times a breath of fresh air.
These are some amazing words Peter! I can absolutely agree with you. If you put in your passion and show it in your work on Instagram, people will also feel it and the numbers are gaining automatically as long as you enjoy the journey, these are great 12 minutes!
It's almost like he twisted something in my brain and it all clicked.
PM, talks about a sphere

The “circle” is.. possibly the most important tip ive heard, this isnt only applicable to instagram, this consistency in branding is psychological, being consistent, high quality, and focusing on making your style and content recognizable is absolutely vital to your success on any platform.
Great video as always Pete. I just started writing good/positive things about my pictures and that has given me a much needed confidence boost and got me pumped to go and shoot again! Thanks for being an absolute legend that you are!

Thank you for your honesty. Advice from other TH-camrs are more like clickbaits. Believing in yourself and doing what you like is better than just engaging with subscribers and likes. Honesty and sincerity are the best policy.💡

Idk bout this vid man... it feels like you didnt say anything you haven’t said before. Maybe that’s just me but I prefer quality > quantity. Anyway I’ll be here for the next vid again cuz i do really enjoy your vids ✌🏻
Yeah I agree, I didn't learn anything here. I wish he would've touched on the realities of the algorithm too. It's very difficult to find anyone who has grown purely off IG in the last year. It's usually people with a good sized TH-cam/Tiktok audience growing on IG
@@dna8269 If you have already heard this before either take it as a reminder and move forward to taking his advice. Or you have been here too long without acting on the appropriate things. It also sounds like you are still focused on growing your followers and not your passion. Les brown is a good guy to watch. He goes into explaining once he showed up and 10 people were there. and he didn't give his all because he was expecting millions of people and he lost the respect of those people because of entitlement. too many people are looking for the millions when they have 1 or 2 people interested. also read an article called 1000 true followers.
For me personally I am still learning every day. it takes time. I have watched my account sit at 350 people. im grinding grinding grinding and learning every day. Finally i get better and my account went to 425 people. and i have been sitting there for a couple months again but my main focus has always been no matter what, i'm going to do my best so that the few people i work with get my best at that moment. Who knows, not everyone is going to make 1 million followers.
Another point he made here, I am not sure what you are trying to do, but have you tried marketing yourself to other businesses? have you tried producing free work to see if companies or small stores like it? if you are doing all of that. then listen to Gary V's advice and you might have to accept that you might not be good enough yet. So keep working. It ain't coming easy.
hey, where is my favorite ''pwhats every body''😂
That’s some things we already but don’t accept or forget it often on the way... and then someone like pete comes along and remind us not to be desperate and keep going with passion..
A lot of value! Thank you! I always appreciate and value your perspective. I’ve been trying to find the best route for my Instagram account. But I resonate with that message - don’t over think it, try things out, do what you love, and learn in the process.
*Googles: "How do I invest in my passion?"... 😏
Jokes aside, that's really the important question here.
So, we all just gonna act like that denim jacket isn't drippin?!
it is for sure
Always delivering the goods!! Thanks for this Pete 😀

Im stuck between the "consistency" and the random. I'd like to think my Instagram is decent, but sometimes I just really wanna post a pic that doest really fit in with the others.... is there some middle ground? Suggestions? @nathanielbayona
I seriously feel that! So I have two accounts, one is for mainly pictures with me and friends and on the occasion some side photo and video work, the other account is my business one where I have primarily shifted it to only my portrait work and any other videos I am making. I did recently share a flat lay on it though as that is something I find super cool and want to use in my product shooting. But I'm still all over the place. Portraits obviously change all the time but I know when I normally like to shoot them that warm feeling to them. Once fall hits it'll shift to cozier with warm and probably a little darker. Then winter will probably shift again to more cooler and brighter images... But I'm working on it and it's been going good thus far! You can check my accounts out as well ... messy_missi and missimanginovideography
Yup, Its tough sometimes when you're following a theme but you have that one random photo thats so cool you gotta share it
@@fulldronevideo8618 I feel like it's maybe cool to set that photo on your story and make a highlight for it, or set it on one of your highlight.. Untill your feed gradually changes enough to where that picture fits.. But it's definitely not easy because when you try to stick to one theme or color scheme you actually block your creativity as to what you want to shoot or post...
@@Cinedon Great point, I've seen this happen actually with my feed sort of subconsciously. I start to notice the colors changing and eventually a picture that I've been holding onto for a while just fits.
You never said"Pwhats up everybody"
Hey Pete, love this video... you’re absolutely right though. So many people want everything ‘now’. Everything good takes time and effort. I love how ‘real’ your answer to this topic is among all the other videos there are out there about algorithms and stuff.
