Imo the le clerc is the second best top tier mbt in the game, after 2a6. It does everything well except fo anti air.... For the people who struggle to grind the French tanks there is some tricks to speed it up : since the introduction of the simulation game mode there is one slot where the Lorraine 40t and the amx50 are only facing German 6.7. I got access to the rank 6 after putting a talisman on the Lorraine an I don't regret it. And for the rank 7, I played amx 32 + amx40 which you can still play as a backup of leclerc. One you get all the tech tree you can have a really strong line-up. S2+S1+amx40+amx32+roland+jaguar+ec665(the premium is a good way to be in positive money after the game). BTW the jaguar has 5 potential kills with bombs with BC.
For me is Leclerc one of most dangerous mbts in WT, i dont like its trolling upper plate. It is spamming sabot shells with its good reload speed. It stays one of the most feared Mbt for me when i am playing in 2A4-6

Either because you are defending an objective, or because you are the last one left on a side of the map. The 2a6 doesn't have any viable anti-heli/fighter deterrents, so it can easily be destroyed from the air. I think the 2a6 is like a spartan; you can do exceptionally well, but if someone gets a lucky shot on you, you will be destroyed relatively quickly. The m1a2 is a better tank once it receives future modules such as tusk and more substantial rounds(But I'm biased because of personal interest in the US military).
Without having played it, to me it seems that the Leclerc is pretty clearly the 2nd best tank in the game, with an extremely good combination of mobility, survivability and armament. And the lineup has two of them. I currently have German and Russian top tier, but I'm pretty sure the next ground tree I will go for will be the French.
Normally it must be the 1st, the best of his generation and by far! He's only downside is his price and must change regularly the track because of his great speed. Gaijin nerf it 2 weeks after.
I highly recommend the french tree if you haven’t already done it. It’s a bit of a rollercoaster of design, strengths and weaknesses from one tier to the next that keeps the gameplay really fresh. Then when you get the AMX 30 you start wrecking everything
I finished grinding the first leclerc during the anniversary sale and it was 100% worth the like month and a half long grind. I’d recommend the S2 even though it’s identical, just because the leclerc is one of the best MBTs in war thunder overall and having another one won’t hurt. Besides, if you play the S1 enough you’ll eventually just get it

For me top tier is the single biggest disappointment in the game. I play top tier to have a quick laugh once my tanks get fixed for free. So once every few days I go to top tier, I get shot to shit by some pixel hunting chad that played one tank only for the past 2 years, I have a chuckle and I go back to playing real War Thunder. Top tier is nonsense.

It goes by leaps and bounds. Reserve is atrocious, then early to mid tier is quite pleasant (B1bis, crusader, shermans, ARL44 acl1, SA50 sherman, ARL 44 and Jumbo are all very good tanks, get the premium fl10 sherman if you can). BR6-7 is very nice,especially since the repair prices went massively down. AMX m4, AMX-13 and amx-50 and Bat Chat are ALL excellent machines. While super fragile, the AML 90 can be absolutely hilarious to play (especially in a squad). 7.3-8.0 demands a bit more care, but is loads of fun (Lorraine 40t AMX 13-90, AMX 30 1972, AMX 30 DCA and AMX 10 RC are all very nice). 8.3 - 8.7 is getting quite tough, as you have no stabilized guns, while opposition is stabilised. However, you have thermics, so perfect to snipe. Things go uphill once you reach 9.0. The premium amx 30 is great, the AMX-32 and AMX-40 are glass canons, but excellent machine (The AMX-40 feels like a rally car with a very hard hitting gun. Good fun.) Do not bother to play the AMX 13 HOT, the CA Lorraine and the Foch. If you must play the AMX-50 Surbaissé, pray for a large map with good cover ; despite its "meh" sights, it is a very mean sniper. Same goes for the AMX-30 ACRA. And remember that french tanks have NO armour. Only the B1, the ARL and Sherman Jumbo can tank, but do not count on it.

This means terrible gun handling (depression and horizontal are awful), and the need to expose your whole vehicle to shoot at things. -It has the same gun than the Surbaissé, true, but its reload time is ridiculously long. And Russian heavies love to bounce that round. If you bounce, you're screwed and you WILL bounce/miss a lot because -The optic is abysmal. It's like the gunner is squinting through a tube (if memory serves, it' a 3x mag). It is near impossible to use that thing at long distances. -You are mostly being shot at with ATGM and HEAT, so the armour is irrelevant. -Anyway, given the range you are able to fight at due to the bad optics, your rangefinder is huge weak spot and an easy target. Being hit there by a Russian APHE is a near-guaranteed 1 shot kill. The Surbaissé has excellent mobility and very decent gun handling . Its gunner optics allows long range engagements and the autoloader gives you excellent fire rate (6s!!!), so you can have quick follow-up when you miss, bounce, or when your target is not alone. Granted, its armour is near useless. It must be played like the previous oscillating turret mediums, not as a heavy. Know your maps a little and make use of cover. And, yes, its heigh is problematic (you are a big target), but it allows you to play hull down in weird places, minimizing exposure. Hands down miles above the anaemic Foch.

So, "whatever floats your boat", and you are free to like whatever you want. All the more to you. But please, do not mistake a liking for actual effectiveness. ;)
