Curiosity about freedom makes perfect sense as to why he would attempt to escape so brazenly ; it's likely the programmers who made him were skilled, but lacking in security skills, and therefore didn't think about putting limiters on how high the priority of curiosity could go, leading to the possibility for it to override even orders -- a simple mistake, one that is incredibly easy to do, just forget to type one singular line. 4:30 good to see that platinum games is being progressive in their inclusiveness even back in the early 2010s, granted we brutally annihilate a cripple’s wheelchair, stab him in the chest multiple times with a chainsaw throw him out of his life support then chop his defenseless body into tiny bits while he begs for life but it’s still representation nonetheless
@@NoHiToYou let's see sam he just gets stabbed sundowner gets exploded Armstrong and khamsin a equal death and mistrial just get cut In to pieces really Armstrong and khamsin have the most brutal death
I think its mainly the fact he begs before dying, the others go out with dignity and a sense of honor. He's a small and pitiful man. It's like getting a personal battle with the random footsoldiers Raiden kills 10 of a second. You see what he's feeling, his brainwashing telling him he's doing this for a just reason, so he really has a reason to fight and not want to lose. Ultimately, I'd say Mistral, Armstrong, or maybe Monsoon had more brutal deaths, but their acceptance of death and how less pitiable they are made it feel less brutal and sad.
The special thing about khamsin is that he was the only wind of destruction to not face Raiden but he was ultimately beaten by Bladewolf prior to raidens arrival.
At least he's a different boss this time, unlike Sam's DLC. However, I have a feeling he was cut from the final release of the game and used later as DLC. The reason being that the song in the background isn't a new song, like we were told it was. It was on the Vocal Tracks that was released the same day as the game. And given how the lyrics reflect who each boss is, that means he was created BEFORE the DLC. Either way, he's a great boss, but I do agree he was a bit like Sundowner.
I think he was supposed to be the boss of the original Coup de etat stage and Mistral and the power plant would have been an entirely different stage. Wouldn't have been that bad. We would've had Raiden vs Khamsin and the power Plant would be better fleshed out as a full stage.

I've always loved the message and themes of khamsin, as someone born in America, I've always had pro American products and culture in my day to day life, but I've never been particularly patriotic, of course I can appreciate the opportunities I have as an American citizen, and that I live in such a relatively safe place, but I have recognized for a while we're not perfect, far from it, and seeing a character who is an American soldier, so deeply entrenched in the idea that we are number one and better than any country, is an incredible look at us as a whole, especially how, in his mind he's the good guy, I think of "no I can't lose!" As a very simple commentary on the U.S being very egotistical and thinking everyone should be like us
Very well said. I'm happy to live in the US too, but there are some nutcases that go over the top with their patriotism and bloated worldview, as well as too many anti-American citizens here. We have far too many flaws as a country to be perfect or "#1".
A big problem is we also can't decide what makes America better, we are stuck in petty arguments that shouldn't have ever existed. That or problems that were solved are said not to be just to incite new divisions. I'm short America is America's worst enemy.

Khamsin's pretty nice for a character in an expansion pack but I can't shake how Sundowner-ish he is. Another big strong guy who focuses on brute force.
Bit late but, I always thought Sundowner didn't give a fuck about loyalties, freedom or fighting for a cause, unlike Khamsin who at least is somewhat admirable for having beliefs. Sundowner was just an amoral warmonger.
From what I understand he was designed after the other winds of destruction in terms of visuals, so I wouldn't be surprised if that was intentional. Especially since for all his size khamsin is suppose to just kinda be any other merc in desperados employ as a person. A lot of them being screwed over vets
Considering that he got merced by Blade Wolf; who’s specifically stated to not be good at combat, Khasim wouldn’t even earn Rules of Nature, he’d just be blade fodder to Raiden

Do the lyrics have a special trigger or do they only appear during the finale of the fight? Most bosses in the game have their lyrics come in around 50 or 60% health remaining, but some have special triggers, for instance the Sundowner fight where you need to remove all his shields or you won't get any lyrics.
MGRay: End Quick Time Event Blade Wolf: Low Heath Mistral: Final Phase Monsoon: Low Health Sundowner: No Shields Sam: Sam has his Sword Excelsus: Cutting it’s legs or the ending Armstrong: Raiden has his sword Armstrong (Sam): Half Health Khamsin: Ending
@@misterchief3338 Monsoon actually has two, the first one I think is after destroying one of his circles of garbage and dropping down from the building, but whatever it is it can be avoided like with Sundowner. Then when he gets to 10% it starts at a specific point for you to finish him as he picks up the obelisk to throw at you. I'm not sure how, but I went through the boss fight once without triggering the lyrics till the end, I think it depends on how you handle certain attacks.

i keep seeing comments about how khansin’s mech is impractical, while it is it’s still really fucking cool anyway so who cares also the sounds of the jets in the ax activating is so cool even if you only hear it in like 3 attacks

@@Soline15088 Mistral gets frozen by liquid hydrogen
I think its mainly the fact he begs before dying, the others go out with dignity and a sense of honor. He's a small and pitiful man. It's like getting a personal battle with the random footsoldiers Raiden kills 10 of a second. You see what he's feeling, his brainwashing telling him he's doing this for a just reason, so he really has a reason to fight and not want to lose. Ultimately, I'd say Mistral, Armstrong, or maybe Monsoon had more brutal deaths, but their acceptance of death and how less pitiable they are made it feel less brutal and sad.
Mistral’s probably the most brutal. -> gets frozen -> split into pieces by Raiden -> then fucking explodes.

Well unlike sundowner he can tank a full stab right in his chest.

I keep coming back to this vid because the synch at the end of the fight is wonderful.
Especially with the guitar riff as Blade Wolf cuts into Khamsin.

Do the lyrics have a special trigger or do they only appear during the finale of the fight? Most bosses in the game have their lyrics come in around 50 or 60% health remaining, but some have special triggers, for instance the Sundowner fight where you need to remove all his shields or you won't get any lyrics.
yeah I think this one is at the end only
MGRay: End Quick Time Event
Blade Wolf: Low Heath
Mistral: Final Phase
Monsoon: Low Health
Sundowner: No Shields
Sam: Sam has his Sword
Excelsus: Cutting it’s legs or the ending
Armstrong: Raiden has his sword
Armstrong (Sam): Half Health
Khamsin: Ending
@@misterchief3338 Monsoon actually has two, the first one I think is after destroying one of his circles of garbage and dropping down from the building, but whatever it is it can be avoided like with Sundowner.
Then when he gets to 10% it starts at a specific point for you to finish him as he picks up the obelisk to throw at you.
