@@tundra_nw I remember the heartbreak of looking for petrified wood to craft that special bow, pretty sure it wasn't even add for like another month or two
I still love this game and play it daily but now I split my time with a new game. I hope it survives after the October update but by that time I may have already left completely.
All of New World's problems stem from one single issue - the game was released way too early still unfinished and incomplete. Probably a management decision, the game was forced out due to hype with the mentality of "Release now, fix it later". This meant the devs had to spend almost the entirety of the game's life cycle just fixing/adding everything that was broken and missing. Had they delayed the game a year and released it in the state it was in when Brimstone Sands came out with all the fixes, added content and quality of life features, this game would be in a drastically different place right now. It's a real shame. Unbelievable potential with a fantastic foundation, but the worst game management I've ever seen.
didnt help that new world had to have the main caracter issue of having the be special ,by making a game engine that was just simply terrible at everything. whilst am sure alot of it could be blamed on the management, the devs were terrible aswell, almost every patch brought a new exploit of some sort even tho often the patch didnt even touch that subject, for example when when a patch without any changes to the flail, somehow made a permanent speedbuff that could be randomly applied when using abilities. new world was such a solid game, but compleatly neglected its playerbase. when the devs finally had a Q&A, they dodged hard questions, and for half a year they lulled us with promises of a big announcement, wich later was just a reveal of the console release. not to mention that useless community manager is atrosious at ther job. lots of issues stem from devs and managers, not actually playing the game they make.
The best game ever made... and somehow the greatest failure as well. I pray one day a game can make me feel how New World did... even if it ends up somehow being New World. I don't play, but I still look up videos for it and miss it dearly.
@@EngageTV you played it till lvl 30. you didnt even get to the endgame loop wich is practically nonexistant, mark my words, they gonna fuck up the game and in 1-2 months, 90% of the players gonna stop playing due to lack of content and other issues.
The new world community was one of the best. They would say that new world was a great game to them but it had massive flaws they didn’t just glaze the game. Seems like people from other communities, games, just blindly cope the games they play. New world community wasn’t like that.
i love NW despite the frustrating bugs. the camera locking. the season 5 quest chain unfinishable. my pvp reward track items displaying below my monitor so I can't see the perks on them. the weapon swap button doing nothing half the time. the troll placement of prone on your controller movement button so run for your life becomes crawl away and no way to disable or change controls.
Lots of work ahead of them, but we'll see. The console release seems to be mostly a cash grab. Maybe they put that money towards further development but the studio is also working on the LOTR mmo so who knows. Either way, it was fun while it lasted.
People is whats needed to save it....the amazon company would cate more IF people played it more. If everyone even just gathered for like 1-3 dyas straight and flooded the servers even just standing sround doing norhing with their charakters atleast the devs would see we care because we log in and they would think its a food investment to put more time on the game.
idk about "one of the greatest games ever made" but it was a fun game nonetheless. Wish we'd stop getting good games that are killed not even a full 4 years into it's lifespan.
Any fanbase with famous streamers in his side will call their favorite mmo the “best mmorpg of all time” until they stop playing it. The truth is that most gamers don't stick to one game, they try it out for a while and then leave... It happens with most games nowadays. TL and Ashes could be next.
I love New World. 2k Hours invested Solo. My friends play with me on launch but quickly gave up on the game a few days later. With the amount of content added i hope they would join me again on Console fresh start. BUT. Im gonna have a hard time explaining to them that they need to firstly spend another $50 or they wont get mounts/ and not be able to get any of the content that comes with Rise Of The Angry Earth.
yup lost intrest after launch and reaching endgame. started a ironman project (where you dont trade with others at all) and that got me a few hundred hours more out of the game
Loved the idea of an ironman. Wish this gamemode had a specialized symbol above them that allowed other players to see you were playing as ironman. It would give more glory to that type of playstyle. Same applies to a hardcore gamemode.
Couldn’t have expressed my feelings better ! I got so lost in the world for a while it felt like nothing would rid me of my enjoyment. That is until a host of problems made their way in and my joyful experience slowly faded away… RIP New World, it was a good 2K hour ride 🥲
sorry but no. the game had no endgame at launch, you could do everything the game had to offer in 3 days and then developed no meaningful end game. new world failed as a mmo game.
Yes the endgame was non-existent at launch but has come a long ways since then. The game ultimately needs more content on a regular schedule which is why the core player base was so upset on the June announcement. My goal with this video was to talk about the foundation of the game (the combat, sound design, and generally what made it fun)
If you got there in 3 days, you are the problem with gaming. Losers with no career playing 20hrs a day then get bored. I say this with 10k hrs on Ark and multiple thousands of hrs in a lot of games.
Got the game on a friday, did a weekend grind and by monday was accused of being a chinese gold farmer by a guild for farming “their routes”. The very next day I was permanently banned for ever for no reason and Amazon wouldnt do anything to help me. Ill never support an amazon game again
I had fun in my 1k hours. But New World was a story of too long. Too long to fix gearing for the average player. Too long to remove dungeon keys. Too long to merge dead servers...
it never was ever . it could have been the 3 ability system is weak always has been 0 build variation killed it the core was nice but it stayed a shell never really developed and the copy pasta mobs got old fast its the whole game same mobs
3 abilities was an interesting route for AGS to go down I agree. It made the game cookie cutter in a lot of ways but it allowed them to hone in on those abilities and balance them accordingly. I've always thought about how this game would play with just 1 extra ability slot. I think it would improve the game drastically. Mob variety has gotten better, especially in dungeons so that point I don't agree with.
It failed because it simply wasn't good. What ruined it for me were the absolutely terrible character animations. The world felt empty, and it lacked any sense of irony or humor. ther was just no fun to be had!
Definitely. 3 abilities was a deterrent for a lot of players and made the game much more cookie cutter. There is build diversity, but not as much as other games like D4 or PoE
WOW ! Very well thought out video.. Great job :)
I loved this game. You had to be there in the early days
New World's launch has a special place in my heart. Played it with an irl friend for a week straight. Can never repeat that type of experience...

I had so much fun at the start but hit max lvl, rented a house and it became a job so i quit. Love the combat but 💯
100% got the same feeling. Lots of mmos struggle from the "second job" idea. I think New World has relatively low grind nowadays which is good.

what about buy a new microphone
Will work on my mic quality for my next video. Appreciate the input
i liked it, but then the paid expansion came and i stoped playing.
so buy the game or just play another game ?
If you've never played the game and are interested, try it out on the console release later this year when fresh start servers open up.
The game was OK Overall. Nothing about it stood out to me, all just Mid tier and passable. It is dead now because Amazon mismanaged it.
If you thought the end game was dead at launch, you weren't in a guild with territory.
I never got into wars early on in the game, but I'd imagine this was a strong point in the game which AGS should have incentivized much more.
How it’s like to play a multiplayer game like a single player?
Group content was a big deal in this game. Sadly not many people play nowadays so it might as well be a single player game.

New World was never a great game. It was another subpar MMO that failed. World of Warcraft has more concurrent players after 20 years than New World.
New World's combat is great and deserves more credit. I agree though, the game is dead and the playerbase shows that.
