    My local Olly's finally got some of this kit on their shelf. Instead of looping over to your store in Michigan, I'll be able to get one here!
    Thanks for the tip where it could be bought.

      You're very welcome! Always happy to help out. Just remember that the "Craftsman Series" kits don't have engines, but for this one you can install any engine that will fit. I tried a 426 Hemi but it was just a tickle to wide. I can only imagine the comment section that I would have had if that engine had fit...

    Definitely a cool kit. Useless decals like that are great for local sponsor ads on a dirt track car. Sweet looking build.

      Thank You! I agree with you about the decals. They would be good if I was building a utility style vehicle or as you mentioned a race vehicle but I envisioned an all show and no go vehicle with nice chrome wheels and a sweet paint job.

    Perfect color and perfect tire and wheel combo. It gives the car a nice stance. Good job. Thanks for the video.

      Thank You. These were about the fanciest wheels that I had on hand that would fit correctly. The paint... well, that was a total experiment and I wasn't sure if I was going to like it at first, but after I got the color coat on I was totally sold on the color. The two coats of clear helped bring it around just a little bit more. Thanks for watching!

    That came out looking sharp and that six banger gives it that finished look that the kit should have come with. Great job!

      Thank you! It seems so odd to me that Round2 would produce a kit without an engine but here we are... Either way, it was great that they at least left it with the opportunity to install an engine instead of blocking it off like they did with the 1964 Galaxie 500 kit.

      Yes they do. I have another car in the build pipeline that came with the same wheels. So, that may be two in a row with the same wheels.

  • @antithesisjones765
    @antithesisjones765 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    That looks really nice. When I built my Coke version I enjoyed everything about the kit except I found the tires were such a hard rubber it took a bit of work to get them on the wheels. For my second build of this kit I’m still undecided as to do a companion in different Coke livery or go the more classic route like you did. 👍

    • @scaleautoguysworkbench
      @scaleautoguysworkbench  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This kit gets around! So far, I've seen it in at least three different versions. The Craftsman series. Coca-Cola and the one with the customizing kit. I took one look at the tires for this build and decided right away that I didn't like the way they looked. I found that if you throw them in some hot water for a few minutes they become more pliable and it is easier to mount them on the rims.
      These Nova wagon kits are just like the 1977 Econoline van kits. One of them is a Coca-Cols version, one in the "Cruisin Van" series and one as the "Surfer Van". I have almost all of the Coca-Cola vehicles except for maybe two or so. I recently did the 72 Chevy pickup in the Coke livery. That turned out pretty good.

    • @antithesisjones765
      @antithesisjones765 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@scaleautoguysworkbench thanks for the tire tip, I’ll definitely try that on this build. I’m a sucker for the Coke branded stuff, I’ve done the 40 Ford sedan delivery and have the 55 Cameo in waiting. I’ll have to do a van version as well.

    • @scaleautoguysworkbench
      @scaleautoguysworkbench  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I am too! I have the Pinto, Ranchero, 72 Chevy pickup, 32 Ford Sedan Delivery already built. I also have the 55 Cameo, 53 Ford Pickup, VW Beetle, 77 Econoline, 40 Ford and the 40 Willy's in my stash waiting to be built. I'm slowly chipping away at them.

    Rally wheels, the one from the AMT 69 Chevelle
    The engine from the other kit comes with a fuel injection option

    • @scaleautoguysworkbench
      @scaleautoguysworkbench  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I was thinking about how a set of the rally wheels would look on this but didn't have any on hand that I could use. I downloaded a PDF copy of the instruction sheet for the engine build and had seen the fuel injector listed. That part didn't come with the engine purchase from Ebay. I was lucky to find what I got. So, I just went with that. It still came out nice overall.

    It's a wagon, that in itself is unique enough imo. It should be built bone-stock, with tires and wheels provided. As good as the rest looks (I REALLY like the paint and BMF, and front grille), the wheels/tires look too big in proportion under the fenders and it's distracting, again imo.

    • @scaleautoguysworkbench
      @scaleautoguysworkbench  ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree with you to a certain point. It being a wagon does make it unique all on its own. I do agree that the tires that I have on it are a little to big but I like the stance. I wish that I could have found something that would have been a bit more aesthetic but this is what I had. The stock wheels and tires, imo, were way to skinny. Perhaps, if the suspension would have been "adjustable" a slight lift of the body may have given the tires a little less of a bulky look.

      In a sense you are correct. However, I prefer the foil. I don't have to worry about the foil turning into silver paint if I happen to touch it and I don't mind the foil as I have been using it since about 1998. Easier isn't always better IMHO.

      Sounds cool! Out of all of the decent engines that I had in my stash, none of them were GM. I could have stuffed a 426 HEMI in it but that would have been sacreligious. At that point, half of my subscribers would have left... LOL! Thanks for Watching!

      Thanks for the great question! I bought the bottle that I use at Walmart. It comes out of the bottle kind of milky colored but does dry clear.
