In the winter months I hang a net or mesh cloth over the front of the loft which keeps out the damp air but lets in fresh air. The loft faces South east so it is a very sunny and dry direction in the UK

Thats whats the training is for Lisa, in the natural state they would "range" a wide area to a feeding place and return to the roost on a gradual learning curve. Once they get many miles from home it is Magic how they do it...no one knows!!
We have been feeding a racing pigeon over the past few days it has two rings on his right foot, yellow top then a plastic covered white one, and a single yellow one on its left. my mum rang the owner and he said to wait a week to see if he goes on but im wondering wether i should catch it and ring up again incase when it does go on he carries on in the wrong direction! its a very beutiful bird indeed.

If you acquire new birds at the right age (25-30 days old) they will settle very easily. I would not let them out until they are comfortable in the loft and have eaten & drunk there for a few days. Then they know the loft is good for all they need. Good Luck

@Sarah : when they grow up the male will start to coo very often and rotate and make this sound """kutterkids-kutterkids-kutterkids"" most of the time.... this means it is male....female will not coo outside it's nesting place nor will it kutterkids out of it's nest, this is female!

You should find ways to make a competition within your own Loft. There are many!!
