I saw this on insta months ago and had decided to attempt making it without a pattern. Then I saw this today and couldn't be happier. So glad you stepped out of your comfort zone to put this out❤ ❤
Thank you!!! I had a pants with this kind of construction way back and loved them soo much. I had this idea to make a crochet short with this construction but didn't take the time to make it. So thank you for making this work of research for me it motivate me to make this short! 🤩
Wonderful!!! ❤ I joked on Instagram that "if you start crocheting them now, your dream pants will be finished just in time for summer when its too hot to wear them for months." so maybe waiting a few more months to start would be just fine 😂
I’m going to try this method to make a skirt - I’m so excited! I’m personally going to use a sport weight cotton/acrylic blend (Twister from Hobbii) - my thought is that it should be easy to wash when it does inevitably get dirty and while it will be heavy, I’m hoping the double waistband will help distribute the weight more evenly so that won’t be as much of a problem. Thank you for posting this tutorial!! I had been studying the reels you had posted because I couldn’t get this construction out of my head, and this saves me a lot of trouble and math 😂
Amazing! My maxi skirt weighs almost exactly 1 kilo and its super comfy still. One thing I didn't think about was how the weight would stretch the fabric, it is about a full 3 to 4 inches longer after about 6 months. Something to think about when deciding when its long enough! Please let me know how it turns out, I havent found any other crochet examples of the SSAW method and am desperate to see what others make! 😊
Great question! I did a 20-ish row repeat and when I tried previously to make a graph for the stitches, I had such trouble with it. I need to learn what program others use to make graphs 😢. Vaguely, its 5 rows of moss stitch followed by double crochet, and then the textured rows are a repeat 4 back post double crochet, 4 half double crochet to get that those little lines of texture. I'll definitely give an update if I improve my diagram making skills!
I saw your Instagram post and instantly ran here to save this! So excited to learn this method. I've been dying to make crochet pants but I'm scared 😅

@ that is great information to have - thank you!
I can’t wait to try this!😊
Let me know how it goes! 🎉😊
Now to figure out what yarn to use so my bottoms don't get ratty after a dozen wears...
I’m so excited to make one of these! May I ask what stitches you used for the original viral skirt?

@ I totally understand, I never read graphs when I grew up crocheting so I can barely read them, let alone make them😅 Thank you for sharing!
What kind of yarn do you use?
The shorts are made with hobbii friends cotton silk! I do recommend it for a textured/natural/boho look. Its SO soft too
