- An excellent evening spent at Welwyn Garden City on the East Coast Mainline where we see plenty of services from Virgin Trains East Coast, Govia Great Northern and freight from Freightliner.
Welwyn Garden City was built in 1858 but it wasn't officially known as Welwyn Garden City, it was first known as Welwyn Junction to coincide with the completion or the Hertford and Welwyn Junction railway. This station ceased its operations on September 1st 1860.
After a long spell of not having any work a new halt was constructed in 1920 and it was called Welwyn Garden City Halt, this was done shortly after the city itself was incorporated, Welwyn Garden City Halt was finally closed in 1926 when the present station was constructed. It's undergone several minor change over the years but roughly still stays the same.
The station took roughly 2.9 million passengers last year.
My next film is going to be from Sandy on the East Coast Mainline.
You can now find me on Facebook through the group Tornado922, there you will find regular updates, videos and photos from all of my goings on throughout 2018 - ยานยนต์และพาหนะ
Excellent filming. I like the 387s as I said. Looking forward to trains at Sandy and others on the ECML.
So we got four platforms Three active and some high Speed-limits for through-traffic, I like. The drive of shame up and over the bridge was touching @ 11:33. Haha, "Man in the Mirror". All said, this was an awesome film. Great work! B.P.
It's a great station to come to and one that I need to make more of an effort with seeing as it doesn't take to long for me to get there :) I enjoyed my little cameo appearances
Another superb video!
Thanks very much :)
Cracking film Jarred, I must say that that is one steep gradient that the 313s use when departing, thumbs up from me as always and a Happy St George's Day to you
Thanks ever so much for saying so mate :) Sorry for the long delay I've been away on holiday for the past few weeks :)
Fantastic video! So much updated the ECML
Thanks very much :) The ECML is getting better and better with each passing day
Tornado922 I think doing Stevenage or potters bar is a good idea too
Another fantastic video keep up the good work
Thanks ever so much I'm glad you liked this
Fantastic station to visit too,, great in the weekdays or weekends 😊😊
Thanks very much, you're right it's a great station to come to at any time of the week

Thank you for saying so
Great video,Great information and it is Great that you are back on the east coast.
T.T.P.F.
Thanks ever so much :) I know you prefer my ECML vids when I do them :)
Another Fantastic Video Here. Some Great Action Shown Here :)
It was a great station to come to :)
Some Thameslink 700s go between Peterborough and Horsham and Cambridge and Brighton via the Canal Tunnels on approach to Kings Cross joining with the Brighton Main Line. Thameslink will run services to Ashford from December 2019 and could go between Brighton and Kings Lynn in the near future given they already go between Brighton and Cambridge.
Right ok, well once the new timetable gets implemented then it's going to be rather interesting to see the various paths created because of it
My Word Jarred that driver almost SPAD in front of you what a close one
Very close indeed
I love the class 700s especially when I see them at Farringdon.
@Apollo Aden why do you keep doing this
Fantastic Filming
Fantastic video and soon will be the class 800
Thanks very much, yes in about a year or so the 800's will be a common sight on the network
Great video is lovely
Thanks very much
Great video.
Thanks very much
I like the sounds of the 180’s when they pass at speed.
I love those 387s
The reason 700s are be used in the ecml is because they are getting ready for the new May timetable which means that thameslink will be on the ecml cause of the services from Horsham to Peterborough and Brighton to Cambridge from May 700s will not be used on great northern as these trains were built to handle the busy rush hour between st Pancras and Blackfriars
Righteo, thanks for letting me know :)
At 4:00 you said pair of 319s, it was actually the 313s. Great video non the less
I didn't even realise I had said 319's, thanks for letting me know :)
Tornado922 Good job I'm on the ball then
Lol there's no mistake their Jarred.
Nice video
Thanks very much
Good video
Thanks very much
Amazing video I love watching your videos, can I make a suggestion, please may you go to Sheffield
Thanks ever so much for saying so it's greatly appreciated :) I will be going to Sheffield in the next couple of weeks
Grand Central 180's number are under the delner coupler. Almost impossible to see if they are at speed.
I had no hope of seeing them then haha
A Grand Central that pass through (180105 'Ashley Jackson') it has the name sticker on them so I can realise the numbers instead of the carriage numbers.
Cool Video I Subbed
Thank you very much for doing so :)
Ive been hearing people are saying that the 365 are going to GWR but there ok but there ok on the ECML
That's what I understand, they were supposed to go there but now the rumour is that they are going to ScotRail
Love your vlogs Tornado922, have been watching them for 6 months now. I'm sure you get asked this often. Do you use a special app or web link, when calling out the destinations and journey from when trains speed through? Would love to know please? Keep up the good work.
Well thank you ever so much for saying so that really is greatly appreciated, I use an app called RealTimeTrains to help me with the destinations
4:48 the 225 was from Edinburgh the 225 after that was from Leeds.
Right ok
The massive shredded wheat factory would have been a better place to spot the trains especially from the top of the silos. I have a few clips from up there.
I haven't seen any clips from up there but I can always look into it
Will u be doing Blackpool area as it's been electrified
I'm sure I'll do it one day
The Great Northern is under the brand of Thameslink
Govia Great Northern are their own separate brand owned by the Govia Thameslink Railway company
How do freights from this part of the ECML go to the WCML.
They don't, freight trains around this area will not go on the WCML
Actually they can, via the incline up to the North London line at Camden Rd, and via Primrose hill
I know this has nothing to do with this video but i a video a while ago u asked about best place to see pendos tilting queensville curve stafford is a good place but also rugby has a good one
I know of the Queensville curve at Stafford I have seen a few films in the past of them tilting, Rugby does have a good one you are quite right. But I think Linslade is currently my favourite for seeing them tilt
Have you ever thought about getting a job on Homes Under The Hammer with your auctioning skills
It hadn't occurred to me but I could always apply for the role :)
Can you come to stalybridge?
I will look into it but I cant make any guarantees at the moment
Can u do Letchworth garden city in your spear time
When I get the opportunity I will do it for you
Why are they being called great nothern when it clearly sayes on the class 700 thamslink
Kai Footer from May thameslink will be doing services on the east coast mainline that connect to st Pancras and go to places like Brighton Horsham etc they are not used on great northern services but they are getting ready for the new May timetable
That's why 700s are being seen more on ecml
Where have the 365 units been moved to? They used to rule on the East Coast main line.
A lot of them are being moved to Ely for storage for an indefinite amount of time until a use is required for them, it's because of the 387's entering traffic and the introduction of the 700's
Tornado922 a few of them have gone to Scotrail
Can you do trains at Stevenage
Yes I will go back there
The 313s look like there scraped
they are on their way out
Why is there not much 365
Because they are going into storage
That's sad considering they are my favourite trains theyare better then the 700s which are replacing them
At 3:14 you said it was great northern but it was actually thameslink
Harley Bardoe thameslink don't start operating fully until May. So for the time being Great Northern are using them as additional sets on the ECML.
Harley Bardoe yea I got confused at first. But now they’re called Thameslink on the ECML. The same with all 387s and 365s, they’re called Thameslink although it doesn’t say it on the livery for most
18:41 did anyone else notice a 365?
You probably did see one
Doesn't look like Great Northern have been treating their 313s very well does it?
Yes, they look very run-down.
Sam Waddingham it’s because they are getting scrapped. Gn are only using them at the moment because they have the third rail capability for the services they do.
alex_trains 27 oh right okey doke I would have thought GN would have taken more care of them until their retirement
Yes, the Class 717s are replacing them soon.
Please Don't Subscribe As I Can't Upload They should look good
