I've been in IT for over 10 years. My last role was in IT management but our company has shut down. Decided to go back into engineering, so decided to get my CCNA again because it lapsed in 2016. I studied using the latest official Cisco books that I've always used. I was surprised by the number of wireless questions and by topics that weren't in the book or practice exams but I happened to know due to my experience. I studied for a month and a half and just passed a couple of weeks ago. How many labs does the CCNP consist of? I only had 3 lab questions for CCNA.

its a behemoth of an exam, you can see how cisco is moving away from traditional networking with it.

it definitely is! have you got it or attempted it yourself? and you're right traditional networking will be soon a thing of the past.

Felt the same for the CCNA last year, exactly the same feeling... Passing the ENCOR in a few weeks and think it will be a nightmare after your video... CUZ my CCNA was exactly the same experience as you describe (apart from the Labs, that was quite OK)

@@NetworkSlakkerz I passed, the labs were very easy, the questions were OK, but Automation was terrible, very hard time around this topic...

I can relate when the issue of the book/ocg, thats not my style of learning as well, currently using a video course from Kevin Wallace to learn and supplementing that with the book and netsim labs and that feels much better combining those at once rather than just reading a book for weeks.

I always try and convince myself that reading the book is the best but in reality its hands on and with some great training videos its enough to get you through! Good Luck!

Heard a lot of people say the 1st edition of the book is garbage. I'm using the 2nd edition and it seems OK up to now, maybe cisco got their act together. I think it's a good place to start for the topics they're after and videos and labs are where you really learn the stuff. I'm only a month in, the book is huge 😅
