    Thank you for this long clip. Finally ;) I was frustrated because your short videos were quite teasing. So many questions are solved after viewing this expansion. If I'm not mistaken, you can can sail as high as 30° upwind. Wow! With this kind of wing... I'm impressed. You was complaining about very narrow "sweet spot". There are less sensitive geometries - shorter aspect ratio - but I'm not sure if such sailewings are out there, and if yes, not sure if you are going to be happy about compromizes necessary. One of them would be less angle of up wind courses. Probably even imposible to sail up wind.

      It goes upwind just as good as a wing and faster. With the new bridle configuration you can change the angle of attack of the Parawing. The sweet spot is small from underpowered to overpowered. It takes some finesse and getting used to. I have a new video uploading where you can really see this effect as I’m riding the 2.9m in 20-35 kts

      @@foilthegreats Thank you for the quick response and clarification on the “sweat spot”. I'm looking forward to the clip you're referring to. Such designs, that have achieved this level of aerodynamic and hydrodynamic quality that allows one to detect "sweat spot" of available power, this is worth a huge compliment. Great technology for both products - board and sail!

      Thanks for watching! Greg at BRM makes great products!

      @@foilthegreats Interesting to hear it goes upwind faster than the wing! That hasn't been my experience. This weekend, I was winging, and a buddy was on the parawing. When we race on wings, we are usually even, but this weekend my VMG on the wing seemed about twice as fast as his VMG on parawing. I was pointing about 5 degrees higher, and much faster. I believe he has the bridle mod completed. Maybe it will get closer as he gets more experience.

      Conditions were 15-20 knots, 1-2ft waves. I think he's around 70 kg. He was on 4m BRM parawing, Armstrong 1080ha. I'm 80 kg on Axis Art Pro 1051 (930 cm^2), Unit 6.5m (should have rigged smaller wing)

    you are getting quite good at it. congrats. can you give us the windstrength (your weight if public) and the ratio of upwind/downwind in time/km? thanx

      Started around 15 and probably hit 25 kts. I’m 87kg. I have no idea on the stats. Don’t keep track. I ride just like a wing and go upwind and to where the wave/swell is better and just do loops. My session this day was a few hours.

    You are proficient now w/ Parawing and retrieve it to ride DW..nice..I was out on Sat. after rain (clearing wind) in Nor cal coast, w/ Parawing 5.1 m on gusty wind. I was able to handle gust by bringing the Parawing above my head to spill some gust..but I have foot straps to connect with the board..like when I slowly brought kite to 12 o`clock in gusty wind

      With the new bridle configuration you can change angle of attack to drop power. It is not easy as the sweet spots is small but I’m starting to get a hang of it. I am no longer getting blown off the water when it really picks up.

      @ yes…I did the new bridles set-up as well…it is more manageable and go up wind almost as good as wing..just need constant wind. Saw you got 2.9 m (for your size it must be really wind there)…I may need to get a 2.9 m as well as for a Crissy Field ( in SF) next season on windy days…
      BTW..which location you are of the Great Lakes?.. fresh water..no sharks nor Elephant seals to startle you..I got startled by it on Sat while in water after fall due to wind dropped while Parawinging!!!

      The 2.9m is so much more fun to handle. I’m at Sandbanks, Ontario. Yes, nice not to worry about big fish. Just ice cold fresh water in the winter to worry about.

    At 8.02 deploy of the PW was a twister, although generally you seem to have this well dialed. Struggling to work out a reliable way to make sure PW deploys perfectly every time. Any tips on this?

      When you collapse the Parawing try and grab the canopy firmly so it does not twist in the wind when you’re riding. Helps so much!

    Looks amazing! Does the parawing replace the need for Paddling for DWing?

    • @foilthegreats
      @foilthegreats  9 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      It could but the replacement for me would be the need for logistics. I just ride upwind and surf downwind just like I would do with a wing. Goes upwind just as good if not better and faster.

    À narrow board should be better for you ?

    • @foilthegreats
      @foilthegreats  9 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      This board is 7’ 19” 100L. I would say the all around board for me would probably be more of a mid length maybe 6’ 18” 80L with hard rails for hitting whitewater.
