Walk outside on a sunny day in any populated area, and it’s obvious that Pokemon Go has taken the world by storm. But before the Pokemon craze took over mobile phones, gamers the world over had already gone on many journeys collecting the virtual creatures in one of the many handheld and console iterations of the franchise over the past two decades. Let’s take a look back at the evolution of Pokemon.

Not gonna lie, I got a little misty eyed watching this. I've played every single core Pokémon game (the remakes as well) and it's so amazing and nostalgic seeing them evolve over the years.
He forgot Pokémon platinum

he showed platinum but had no mention of it, which makes little sense because he mentioned all other core games and even some spin offs.
Might be my bias but GBA always will have the most interesting graphics.

Pokemon Red and Green came out in Japan in 1996, Blue was released as a special edition to subscribers of the CoroCoro Comic. Blue didn't get an retail release until 1999. Red and Blue got their North American release in 1998.
Pokémon Go was released way too early and is easily the worst out of all the releases I've played since 98. Barely any skill required in gym battles, 95% of the time you spend on grinding dumb ass Pidgeys and Rattatas for candy, no online battles, no trading system, no new soundtrack and no motivation to keep on playing it at all after you played it for like a month.
Pokémon Sun and Moon comes far closer in being what I've always wanted from a Pokémon game. I want to immerse myself inside the world of Pokémon and not go outside just so I can look like a tool whilst waving around my phone.
I do agree. I think a lot of people that played that probably gained a false impression of what the games are.

What's kinda weird is pokemon crystal goes with gold and silver and Pokémon platinum goes with diamond and pearl. It should be diamond, pearl, and crystal and gold, silver, platinum

One thing I like about the older games is how they didn't try to hold your hand so much, at least in the beginning. The last Pokemon game I bought was Pokemon Sun and it feels like the game almost never lets me explore on my own, every mechanic of the Pokemon franchise has to be explained to me for some reason, and it seems like every time I enter a town some stupid story event will happen and it's just tons of dialogue. In the future I'd like Pokemon games to have the option to turn off the tutorials, at least for things that I've known for almost 20 years, like that you can heal at a Pokemon center and you catch Pokemon with PokeBalls.

Pokémon Emerald came out in 2005 and Pokémon Platinum came before Heartgold and Soulsilver

I have all games except Gen 6 & 7 Pokemon games on GBC, GBA, NDS. I have also Pokemon Stadium 1 & 2 and Snap on an N64. All of them are in my phone. Sounds crazy

Sincerly, has a huge Pokemon fan, there is a lot of things missing here. The way he introduces new generations its like its just a new set of Pokemans and new grafics... Each new generation improves the gameplay greatly, more than what he say, for exemple, the great change that 4th generation brought, was not the online capabilities, but in my eyes, the Physical/Special split that is a staple on the franchise even right now. The new Pokemon games, Sun and Moon, might even be more wildier than the spin-offs "breaths of fresh air" he said, with weird actual evolutive theme and no gyms or evil team, and its a main series game...

I've only played Emerald, Pearl, Soul Silver, Pokémon Battle Revolution (not mine nor for the Story, just so I can see how well my team can do against one of my friends), Black, White 2, Y, and Moon. Also, I never saw what was so addictive about Pokémon Go. It's just a less fun, phone version of the Pokémon games
I wish Nintendo would port the games into mobile apps, I remember vaguely someone put up Emerald and fire red on the Microsoft Store when I got a windows smartphone(though it played at 0.75x speed) but it worked like a charm

Pole park was sooo lit
For me, the franchise peaked at Heartgold and Soulsilver. It brought the games with the most content back with modern graphics. It a shame that was the only game that tried to attempt to offer 16 gyms, 2 regions and having "catch them all" still be a feasible goal. I find little reason to jump back into franchise if the games keep following the same game model again and again.

Maybe I should be proud of myself because I played Pokemon since I was in grade school starting from Pokemon Red to Pokemon ORAS. Starting from GB to 3DS. But I sold my 3DS that's why I can't play Pokemon Sun and Moon so sad ☹️ but all I can say is "Pokemon is the Best Game Ever"
Gold/Silver and their update versions will always be the best for me. Always.

Nintendo must have listened because they release their first jrpg version of the Pokemon games for the big screen, with the Pokemon switch versions let's go Pikachu and let's go Eevee, sealing the eventual demise of the handheld console 3ds with the new hybrid system. and now another mobile game spin-off, Pokemon Masters, aims to capture some of the handheld game's popular mechanics, while adding new mechanics.
