I'm working on a parts strat with the Amazon stratocaster. Thanks for the video. With this perspective I will put a little extra work into the sanding and painting of the neck.
I have several parts guitars and they are among my favorites. I have a purple Strat, Mighty Mite Licensed neck, Guitar Fetish XGP body, Guitar Fetish pickups, CTS pots, Switchcraft Jack and switch, Gotoh Magnum Lock tuners …. Hands down better than my Fender Player Strat and I got $450 - $500 in it.
Well done Landon. I've done partscasters myself, I'm really proud of some of them. I'm surprised to say I thought A was the Custom Shop and B was yours. I thought A was a little smoother sounding and I thought the maple fretboard and the pickups were going to be the difference. In the end, a big congrats Landon, you put together a really nice guitar! Cheers.
Before watching the channel I wasn’t really a telecaster person, far from it. But now I’m really fascinated by them and appreciate them. The twisted tele pickups sound really nice. Could we see a review or comparison one day with Seymour Duncan hot chicken tele pickups?
Having never paid the price for a Custom Shop I cannot personally compare, but I can say that any custom built-by-me rivals any I have purchased. Thanks Landon for the entertaining video which they are as always.
i too rank my guitars by neck. my number 2 guitar, i like the sound of a little better than the others. i have 2 strats, an asat, and epiphone sg. made in japan strat has best neck. to me it's the perfect neck. then the asat, then the partscaster strat i built, then last the sg. they've all got great different sets of pickups. strats have differing types of pickups, so all the guitars sound good to me. so basically it's up to what i like playing best, i actively switch through them all. Ive done somekind of upgrades on all the guitars. the mij strat came with a humbucker in the bridge, replace all with a set of seymour duncan hendrix. i switched out scratchy pots and put 4 way switch in the asat, the partscaster is my suprisingly good looking (it sounds good also) disastercaster as i iike to call it. the sg body i got for 25 bucks american, it had wiring and pickups but no jack...was somehow torn out and part of top is damaged around hole. put backup poker chip swtich cover over to hold down. put in 4 way wiring for seymour duncan phat cats with a very make shift clear cavity cover. they'll probably only become worth any money once i become famous for my clever and witty youtube comments.
Those 2 guitars alone could finance at least 4-5 killer mod project guitars of a lower price point. I'd spend $800-$1000 on each, and have a slew of bitchen T style guitars with various pickup configurations. Thats just me. I'm not at all interested in vintage spec'd models. Really cool guitars either way. You should be very happy with them. Congrats brother! Peace out.
Thanx Bailey, I think you broke that down fairly!! I just put together a kit guitar and and the nuts & bolts went in together but the setup actually kicked my ass(oops) not really!!
The neck pickup in your build, sounds a lot better than the custom shop, but the bridge in the custom shop is better than your build. I'd say put that set together, and you've got some great sounds!
I would love to have a fender, custom shop telecaster. I would also love to have a telecaster from the year of my birth. I am old, so it’s not quite vintage, but it’s going to get there shortly. It interests me that they are priced about the same. Would you go vintage? Or would you get custom shop from, say, 50 years from your birth year?
Question for you: did you intentionally build yours with 9s and request 10s on the Fender CS to have some variation of string gauge, or did they just send you one with 10s?
If you knew you liked thinner necks then why didn’t you get one for your parts caster? Then you would have 2 favorites! About your cost for your time and labor on the parts caster, this should be zero because of the love of music! You can’t put a price on love, unless your driving down the street late night, oh never mind!
Hi Landon! Did fender not have a 9.5 radius neck that you could have used for the partscaster? I think that would have been an interesting comparison or at least the result may have been interesting.
Got an American strat from sweetwater decades ago. Had to clean out and reset the neck pocket, and do several upgrades to get it playing right. Never again Fender.
Since 20 years I build solid body and acoustic guitars that compete or surpass custom shops. Except for precious woods or inlays, because it rises the price too much to be sold easily.
My CS Tele sounds better, way better, than any of my other production Fender Teles... Chicago Special pups are magnificent. Pups make the Tele special....go high end/boutique, the difference in tone is significant. Tip: Disconnect tone pot from neck pup....improves output and clarity, fur ril.
Building your own partscaster Tele gets you something unique and potentially better than a Fender Player, for less money - that’s my experience anyway and now I’d rather build than buy 👍

I spent about 800 on my blue parts-tar. Allparts neck, MJT body. Including a case. ❤

Everyone should build a Teley. It's fun, and easy. If you buy quality parts you will end up with a great guitar.
I like the pre-wired electronics. It is easier and comes out more reliable in most cases.

Did you mention the bridge?
it was on my list and I missed it! thanks. Vintage style on both, with compensated saddles on the partscaster.
@@landonbaileydid you mention the trussroads? Vintage for both…from what I see..
The neck pickup in your build, sounds a lot better than the custom shop, but the bridge in the custom shop is better than your build. I'd say put that set together, and you've got some great sounds!
Great video, than you! you have style!

How does the player ii you just got compare? Night and day?
heavier
Can a strat style neck (rounded heal) fit a Tele body? Will the screw holes line up?

Question for you: did you intentionally build yours with 9s and request 10s on the Fender CS to have some variation of string gauge, or did they just send you one with 10s?
I intentionally chose 9-42 and the Custom Shop was already built with 10s
@landonbailey awesome. Beautiful Teles you've got there. Nice job on the build!
I refer to all my partscasters as custom shops, I just don’t specify which shop

Before the reveal, I like "A" a little better.

Ummm you missed arguably the most important thing… STRING FERRULES!!
@@kristenm3644 I didn’t miss it, I omitted it 😝
awwwwwww yes
I would honestly rather build a tele than buy a custom shop version for $$$.

Love those Teles ! But How do You keep Your Pickguards Mint ? Mine always get Scratched up 🤷
mint toothpaste
@@landonbailey 😂really keeps it Fresh !

I’d steal both guitars. Thank you. Play guitar, have life in prison
Is “vintage” the new “new?” Or, is black the new “black?” Thank you. Play guitar, have… too Canadian cold outside to do anything else
