    Thank you so much for this video. I got that kit and it was my second truck kit. The first being the Revell Peterbilt 359 Conventional. Without your video I would get lost the second I saw the sprues. Awesome video and very helpful. 👍👍👍👍👍

      That’s awesome that your getting into bad ass trucks as well. My first was also a 359 conventional. Now I’m building a 352 cab over and will be scratch building a mobile car crusher on AMT Heavy-Duty low-boy trailer.

    That truck is still well used around my area mostly for local but even long hauls are common. There is a local body shop that specializes in rebuilding and painting that model in the exact color scheme you chose here. It is a blast from the past and I can still smell that particular paint mixture, when I recall it. Thanks for that blast Mr Doug!

    It is taking me longer to finish this kit;because I am plumbing this kit using the copper wiring out of old earbud head sets,and some .5 mm brass rod;for all of the air,fuel,and electrical lines.I went with the color sceme that is on the box art.The body color you chose,is shown on the bottom panel;that shows the kit features and details.

  • @MFKR696
    @MFKR696 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Did I read that right? There was a version with a turbine engine in it? That's crazy. Fun fact about Detroits, though: The Blowers/Superchargers aren't there to add power, although I'm sure they do. They're there because a Detroit will not run naturally aspirated. It needs boost just to run. One of the reasons why I've always kinda despised Detroits. The fact that they sound like giant 2-stroke lawn-mower engines doesn't help. They're also pretty gutless for the amount of metal moving around inside it, especially for a Supercharged engine. I'm more of a Cummins/Cat kind of guy, myself.

    • @RightOnReplicas
      @RightOnReplicas  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      H3R, Thanks for the info and yes, the AMT510 kit sported a, "Exclusive... Turbine and Diesel Engine' Optional construction! -Doug

    • @MFKR696
      @MFKR696 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RightOnReplicas With the way that's worded, I would tend to think that "turbine" was just a fancy name that was used to describe turbo-chargers, because turbines are exactly what they are, hence the name "turbo". I find that more believable than someone actually being crazy enough to install a gas-turbine on a highway tractor. The heat produced alone would make it a bad idea, especially with a Cab-Over.
      As far as I'm aware, the only non-military gas-turbine driven vehicles that was ever built were two GM concept-cars that never saw the light of day, outside of Jay Leno's collection, that is. In modern times, the only "vehicle" that runs a gas-turbine as it's main power source is the M1 Abrams Main-Battle-Tank, and it will likely be the last one to do that. Turbines guzzle down fuel like it's going out of style, especially when they're expected to mobilize all 70-ish tons of a MBT.
      The only real benefits are a pretty much flat torque-curve within the operational limits of the engine and that they can burn pretty much any hydro-carbon based fuel in existence. The engine probably wouldn't love you for it, but you could probably even run one on diluted Bunker Oil. An Abrams can run jet-fuel, diesel, gasoline, butane, propane or even natural gas. Generally, if it burns, you can run a gas-turbine on it.
