  • In this video I've put together some old and antique engine cold starts. In this video you'll see a large variation of different engines starting up and even hear the awesome sound when the engines are up and running! There is just something satifsying about engine startups - ecspecially if they are cold started. Many of these engines haven't been running for years and that just adds to the feeling when the engine finally starts up! The sound and feeling is indescribable!
    Hope you enjoyed this compilation of old engine cold starts. If you did please leave a comment and let me know if I should make a part 9!
    Remember to SUBSCRIBE to stay updated on new content! I upload videos mostly about engines, extreme engine swaps both in boats and other vehicles and I also post DIY engine projects... Just engines in general! - So if you love the sound of a good engine you should definently go ahead and subscribe! Thanks!
    Keep in mind that I am not the owner and/or the creater of any of the clips featured in the video - all the credits are given below:

    That first Lister sounded like a ballpein hammer was let loose in a empty tank.

      Yep. Being a diesel, they sounded like that.

    Don't care if it's a Ferrari V 12 or a single cylinder Lister, there is nothing like hearing a project engine light off for the first time.

    my dad has a twin flywheel blackstone, they used to start it with compressed air but the bottle has been condemed, im wondering if we could start it from a compressor (large tank) but its 150psi does anyone know if it would start it ?? hopeing to get it going for his 91st birthday in a few weeks !!! many thanks and great vid

      Sure. A large enough electric compressor would do the job.

      The small starter engine is called a "pony motor". Quite common in the early days.

    Just from the way the second engine sounds i would say it's a Fairbanks Morse , which model ? I don't know !!!

    • @davelowets
      @davelowets 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't think it's an FM.

      @@davelowets , Nah i've actually seen the same one now that i remember , It's the 1936 32D 4 cylinder Diesel model , and it is a Fairbanks Morse engine . How do i know that ? Well , ALL the Fairbanks Morse engine models produce roughly the same sound regardless of their size when they start running ! At least all the ones i heard did ...

      @@baptisteramiro1918 The 1930s FM's were all 2 strokes. The one in the video is not, its a 4 stroke.

    Man with Lister CS.... You don't need to turn the engine over that many times to start it ! couldn't you hear the terrible knocking when it first started ???? I have two CS/6's and they start after no more than two revolutions of the flywheel, and they don't knock like yours... you are allowing too much diesel to enter the combution chamber just like the chap with the LD1, over fuel them and they are harder to start....!
