Pus is good. It consists mostly of dead white blood cells that have done their job fighting the infection. Pus is bad only in that it causes pressure and therefore discomfort, so getting it out of there helps relieve the pain. I did not know that about neosporin. It must only affect some cats because my cats responded well to it on the occasions I used it. Now that I know it's a risk, I won't use it anymore. I'm happy for you and Jack. He trusts you. Having been forced to do this myself, best way to treat an abcess is to open it up, express what you can, then use a syringe (no needle!) filled with bactine to flush the wound until it comes out clear (the cat will have a lot to say about having the syringe poked into the wound but trust me), wash the area with water to removed the bactine, and then you have 2 choices: leave it open or use a cat safe salve (or just bacitracin and put a modified baby onsie on the cat to prevent licking) and monitor the cat to keep the salve on for several minutes.

A lot of things that are safe for humans are dangerous for cats. I don't know if neosporin is very dangerous for cats, but apparently it can harm them. The vet used to tell us just use warm salt water on cat wounds.
Its big wounds so i would think you need to keep the wounds open and not let it close and clean inside the wounds with a small syringe? Or it will be pus again... Good luck with this ❤❤❤❤

In the comment section of almost any cat video on TH-cam, you'll see people write the word car instead of cat due to auto-correct, etc. Well, it turns out people have EMBRACED this funny error and just rolled with it. Example: video of a Kitten suddenly falling asleep has the comment "car battery ran out of power". Quite frankly, some of them are hilarious.

Oh no do you have any type of antibiotic suave like Neosporin, i have used it before on our cats.. Poor jack.. But he is in good hands with you..
The vet said not to use neosporin. The spray I used is antibiotic. I used it in the turkeys. Some cats can have a bad reaction to neosporin.

Was he injured in a fight? I have a theory that neutered male cats get into more nasty fights because they smell wrong to other cats.
