The 1997 - 1999 era of Metallica were absolutely unstoppable in sound. Seattle 89 may have the energy. But man, 90s Metallica just sound so refined. It's like when they tuned to Eb they learned they could just go ALL OUT.
Obviously Metallica were at their best from 85-93 but I really like the 98-99-00 shows they did. They were on point. Kirk was really fluid in his solos, and creative.
Probably one of the last times we saw peak Lars---you can hear his double bass, mostly clean, consistently strong, and he's not overdoing it with the improvised fills or wildly fluctuating tempos. As always, Jason's bass is massive, and you can see how much more accurate Kirk was in those days.
This is the best cover song they did by far. They did KILLING JOKE proud. Fucking bad ass. Makes me want to do full sprint flips of stages again(if my fat old ass could still do that! lol).

Actually I wanted to make an audio upgrade for this show(partial) a few months ago and I downloaded all the available tracks for this show and they were split in 2 or 3 singles from 98-99, but Ron didn't allow me to release it, so I scrapped it. I still have a video uploaded as a sample of 3 songs, though.
For the recorded versions I actually prefer the Killing Joke version a bit more but this is the best live version I have heard of this song by either band.
