    fascinating conversation. If it’s true that out of all the thousands of manuscript fragments, no 2 are identical, then we can never really know for sure the “original”.
    And tradition must play a role, whether we like it or not as protestants.

      Indeed, we cannot escape tradition. I appreciate James's attempt to think through the implications of inspiration in light of the manuscript tradition.

    Dei Verbum. Really interesting.
    So, is this conveying in essence, that tradition (regarding scripture) and scripture alone, are to be weighed equally? Or am I misunderstanding.
    And does "tradition" in that sense, in Scripture, mean applications of "Rhema"?
    Btw I really like these guys. Good discussion.

      There is much here that Protestants can and should affirm; though, of course, it is framed in terms of a Catholic approach to Scripture and tradition: "Sacred tradition and Sacred Scripture form one sacred deposit of the word of God, committed to the Church" (II.10).
