Hey everyone! I just wanted to share my thought process with you guys on how everything came together on my latest tattoo. I wanted to share to show that thinking of a tattoo idea can be easy and rewarding when everything comes together, and hopefully take some of the anxiety out of planning for your next (or first?!) tattoo!
We had a few complications with the placement, as I have scarification, a previous tattoo, and certain anatomy that was very crucial in the overall design, and I think we totally nailed it!
This was one of the first times I ever used a mood board to help with my planning, and it was actually really helpful with getting my tattoo artist and I on the same page!

I use Pinterest all the time, almost daily. I'm using it to plan my wedding, plan my new bedroom, gather tattoo ideas, fashion/makeup ideas... Love it! Will definitely be using it to try to plan my future sleeves.
I think it's my favourite tattoo of yours honestly! Like you said it has such a witchy feeling, like herbs hanged to dry in a hut in the middle of the woods on a sunny autumn day, I love love love love it. And it compliments your body and the bee so well, I love that it's not symmetrical yet keeps the whole thing balanced. Just wow.
I also use mood boards all the time for tattoos! It helps me so much going from vague ideas of an "ambiance" I want for the piece to the actual finished product.
Have you ever tried making a body model to help with your overall tattoo goal? I've made a few before where I draw out a basic body, head to toe, front and back, and plan out all the tattoos I want and will maybe eventually get. It helps a lot with figuring out the size and placement of everything you want, to see what works and what doesnt. Drawing it out on paper helps so my brain doesnt get too cluttered trying to just imagine everything. Love you!

I always brainstorm tattoo concepts after getting some done because I have a plan for all of them ahah! I still haven’t got all of the ones on my list but I’m almost there
Currently planning a few tattoos. Whenever I'm stuck i just go outside, rummage through my closet/attic, or go to the store. I search for little things that mean something to me or something that looks cool. I currently have 6 tattoos planned out just because of this method.

I know a lot pf people say that just listening to your voice helps them with anxiety because it's relaxing but it's so true! I listen to your videos to help me fall asleep (but i never ever get to sleep in the end because what you're saying is always too interesting).
This helped me so much! A sermon at church last week inspired a new tattoo idea. My first google search wasn't _____ tattoo. It was reference photos. ❤

I absolutely love that tattoo! I'm so happy that you made this video. I have been struggling with what to get recently and your videos have been helping me to not have so much anxiety about tattoo shops. I actually got a cute spider flash tattoo yesterday at a shop event.

I did a very similar process when designing my first pair of tattoos :) Saved images to a folder and slowly figured out what design parts I liked and wanted on me.

This video was really helpful! I loved hearing about your process and working with your artist. I have no tattoos yet and one of my anxieties about it is lack of clear communication. You two hashing out ideas was good to hear, especially how he listened to what your own anxieties were and how you could trust his artistic experiance as well. I will definitely be on the lookout for artists like this. And the new tattoo is gorgeous!

I've recently made moodboards for the first time and they were so helpful! I couldn't decide in which style I wanted to get my sleeves and creating moodboards gave me such a clear picture, the decision was made wihtin a few hours after making the moodboards :)
I have totally used a mood board for tattoos!! I save inspiration pictures of other tattoos almost daily, and it's so helpful to get my ideas "out there".
if I don't find a picture of something I like, I put it in my written "tattoo ideas memo" on my phone. sometimes it's a picture of what I want but don't know where, a place I'd like tattooed but I don't know what, or a picture I want and where I'd like it. (example: "traditional blue rose on foot" or "something in elbow crease" or "ankh somewhere") and I love to mix and match ideas, execute ideas, or toss them altogether. it's awesome that someone else does it :)

This was so interesting to hear how you brainstormed with your artist I have anxiety disorder that makes it hard for me to do but to know they like to discuss things really helps plus your tattoo looks so nice!

this helps a lot ! and I've done a mood board sort of lol but I've been wanting a cover up for a while and finally figured out what I want don't know when I'll execute it but yea it does help getting ideas 😊

I totally feel you on that whole being completed/covered thing. after getting my first tattoo I actually felt like my skin was more exposed than before the tattoo. It's a difficult concept to describe to a non tattooed person
i like making physical collages I've always done them when I'm feeling stressed, so on my phone/computer i save things i come across then print them out when I'm in the mood then keep them in this folder and take it to my tattoo appointments
my tattooist likes seeing what ill be wanting so we can plan placement for near future pieces 😊
This video was so helpful. I love the ideas on your moodboard I started one on Pinterest and I want to get some tattoos to invoke the feelings I have for my daughters. Right now I'm just dreaming about it but I get more excited the more I look at my board and think about where I want them and what they will mean to me. And I know it's a little stupid but I'm excited to see what they look like in pictures.

i totally use mood boards! i just went to a tattoo shop the other day to talk about ideas with the artists. very helpful, since im horrible at explaining haha.
Love the new tattoo, fits perfectly and looks gorgeous! I just got my first tattoo (twas the sternum) and was also focused on trying to find something that fits my body and complimented my shape. =] Can't wait to get more and to see your future tattoos as well!

I felt like I was all over the place with my first tattoo, luckily my artist was so experienced and probably dealt with a lot of scatter brained people like me. I had the image in my head but my words werent the best lol.
My pinterest board helped him out so much because I didn't know how to describe art styles like "traditional" or "neo traditional"
Then I showed him certain flowers I wanted but he drew some himself with the flowers in mind so he didn't copy anyone's artwork which was nice, I had a completely original piece inspired by so many different things and I don't regret this tattoo at all!
This was really really helpful thank you so much. It really helped define for me how to take inspiration from other people's work but not steal their tattoo which was something I was really concerned about. This was a really well put together video, keep shining on

great video I have quite a few tattoos with so many ideas for more. currently been working on my twisted disney princess sleeve with parts of the orginal fairy tales in. it has helped so much having a artist to discuss it with.

making reference boards or mood boards on Pinterest is my favorite things for planning tattoos. I plan literally all of my tattoos on there and my artists love me for it because i can show them tons of elements and references that they can access whenever they want and I can be like "oh i like x but so much with that y element, i think it would look better with z instead" and yadda yadda yadda. Plus, its so good for pulling your ideas together without directly copying someone else's tattoos
