Igorot ancestors are not filipino, yes thats true... however if a politician said an igorot is not a filipino in 1945 that is a big disgrace to the igorot people. Simply because we igorot registered ourself as filipino citizen and we are acknowledge by the philippines as filipino citizen even before 1945. As an igorot from 1945 until today do you want to be an stateless? If somebody ask an igorot which country we belong, which country we should claim. 1945 igorot generation are filipino citizen, thats why together the igorot people defended the philippines. Thats why igorot people who heard the statement of mr. Romolo after 1945 is very offending. Ancient times and 1945 is tottaly different. Thats why even if your blood is a filipino and if you want to be an american citizen and USA approved your request. You are now considered and belong to USA as an american citizen.
The igorot people fought during world war 2 defending the philippines. Therefore igorot people deserve recognization, awards, welfare and benefits from the Philippines itself.

This is the theory of professor Balweg the brother of the late priest Conrado Balweg who fougth for the Cordillera and the founder of CAR, according to prof. Balweg Igorots are the displaced boat people from India because of tribal war, then these people arrived to the coast of Ilocos and since they are inclined to mountain living just like in India which is also mountainous, they tried to find mountain in these new world, to do this they have to find a river inorder to continue their journey because their belief that water always flow from the mountains and fishing is the easiest way for their immediate food while travelling, on their way some settled downstream like the Kalinga, Apayao tribe then spreaded to Abra which now are called the Isneg, some of the trekker moved upstream to south which is now Mt Province, some moved west to the Ifugao territory today, some also continued south which are now the Kankanaey and Ibaloi tribe of Benguet, the river is now called CHICO, Features to consider the similarities of India particularly the Nagaland and the Igorot to justify the theory; weaved clothings and color, 2. Body adornment like beads and head feathers, 3. Earings even in men, 4. Tattoos and finally Tribal war.

I greatly disagree that the statement "Igorots are not Filipinos" to be an offensive statement,
The word Filipino in itself bears the mark of a colony, and after our elders and ancestors fought realy hard not to be colonized, you actually wish to heartily embrace the same identity?
It is palatable to be classified as such for geographic and political reasons to uphold peace and prosperity,the igorot lands are from the same archepelago as the rest of the filipino lands and we can't change that fact, but for you to adamantly express that not being a filipino is a shame or offensive, is a great disrespect to our forefathers who have fought both filipinos and spaniards alike to keep your igorot identity
Even the moros from mindanao, who have kept their lands free from spanish colonialism, only let themselves as be called filipinos for the same political and geographical reasons yet by heart call themselves the Maharlika not filipino and yet you are offended to be called not a filipino?
