- If there’s anything that we loved about our visit to the province of Ifugao, it’s the people who continue to preserve their traditions and protect their heritage. Our guide, Irene Binalet, was our beacon throughout these moments where we connected with the locals and the community of artisans. We will always be grateful for this opportunity to share these stories and these are just snippets from our memories that we will forever hold close to our hearts.

I found this video randomly and im surprised to see we share a lot of similarities.

It's kind of amazing how Cordillerans today are some of the chillest people on the planet. Considering their past as constantly-warring tribes less than a century ago. They have the serenity of continuity of culture. Unlike us lowlanders.
my ancestors were great head hunters until Christianity arrived in our tribal land and peace was restored and people were civilized..

It's because they had to find peace among themselves especially since they had a common enemy for hundreds of years and they could not have remained free to preserve the traditions, had they sought to kill each other. Tribal wars probably have started only when the common enemies have left. Some tribal wars were caused by sides between those who welcomed the Americans, those who didn't, those who have given refuge to criminals, and the conflict which the current generation know nothing of and just believe another is an enemy.
FEATR is improving overtime, this documentary showcases how this channel can be compared to an actual high production show. Kudos to the producers and the whole team! You guys deserve to be known worldwide. Thank you for showing the PH’s different cultures.

I appreciate this content SO much. I have never been to the motherland. My mom has not been since she left in 86. My dad has visited a few times solo but not since the early 2000s. These segments help me see the country that 75% of my family is from- even if it is not the same areas all the time and it makes me so happy 💜

What a lovely community! Was surprised to see that they also consume betel leaf (what is popularly known as 'Paan' in India).. And the lovely old couple 💜
Fun fact: areca nuts and betel leaves were ORIGINALLY from the Philippines (where the areca nut is native). The oldest evidence of betel leaf and areca nut chewing is found in archaeological sites in the Philippines, dated to around 5,000 years ago. They spread with Austronesian migrations and maritime trade to New Guinea, other parts of Southeast Asia, southern China, and finally to Dravidian-speakers in Sri Lanka and southern India at around 3,500 years ago, which then spread to the rest of India less than 2000 years ago.
It was formerly widespread in the Philippines. But started disappearing around a century ago when it was replaced with tobacco. It only survives among isolated highland groups like the Cordillerans, and among Muslim Filipinos in the southernmost island chains.
Cordilleran people has a lot similarities with the Nagaland people in India.

The Cordillera region composed of 6 Provinces and one city, the City of Baguio, the summer capital of the Philippines. We Cordillerans are known as Igorots. The natives of the Cordillera came from north India. The Nagas of Nagaland are the immediate brothers of the Cordillerans. And the Kalinggas came came from West Bengal, India.

Thank you so much for featuring this on your channel. This part of ifugao is so nice and beautiful. Its worth to visit and experience the beauty of nature that God created. I fell in love on my first visit i bring a lot of my family with me on my first visit to this place called Batad and they have a beautiful falls too. People her are warmth and welcoming folks. All the hikes and treks are worth it when you reach the basin of rice terraces. Come and visit Ifugao.❤

it's been years since I last went home to Sagada and watching this makes me feel so nostalgic...
it reminded me of the time where we got to actually enjoy childhood in the province. where we ran around the fields playing tag, took turns with the 'bayo' - pounding the unmilled rice to show of that even a tiny city girl can hold on to the heavy wood, and swam in the clean river...
this documentary brings back too many memories and i'm truly grateful to FEATR for what you do...

I think the guide was talking to another Filipino so it's pretty nonsense to speak in full English.
@@athenstar10 I don't know if this is the answer you're looking for but most of us highlanders were first taught to communicate in English and in our mother tongue. We only learned to speak Filipino in school.

Being in the American grind of things I keep forgetting where my roots come from and then I see a video like this and it reminds me and keeps me humble and grateful for the things that ancestors blessed me with. It's, not a bad idea to make a visit to village people's at the same time you can enjoyed other natural beauty and atmosphere. The villager were asked to prepared local wine with rice is so exhausting. Cos they had to pound the rice and long processes.. I don't know how loss they may had.. Still enjoyed watching it. 🙏🤠
The mountain people and culture of the Cordilleras really fascinates me. They are notably very distinct, and yet ironically they live on an island.
It's entertaining on to watch on TH-cam but if you go there you will want to run away after few minutes.

Try to cover Mayoyao Ifugao its the next the municipality of banaue. In mayoyao we call our self Ayangan. What you have covered is banaue the tuwali tribe. We have also a lot of elders in our place and a wider rice terreses than banaue.
