Its funny to think that this VVA technology is copied from Honda's VTEC technology, and yet Honda did not adapt this technology in their motorcycles especially scooters like the PCX, Click and Airblade.
Actually honda made for big bike.. The only bikes have vtec is cb 400 hyper vtec, vfr 800, Honda Integra 700 and a few bike.. The vtec on bike is only for fuel efficiency & power for hi end.. But this system is applied on 2005 onward.. The vva just only copy & paste.. And also, vvt is different thing from vtec.. Don't get you wrong
@@reoglah not missed opportunity, its just a simple ignorance breed by arrogance, Honda knows that no matter how little their effort to develop a motorcycle engine, folks are gonna buy it anyways over other competitor, Honda is borderline monopoly in terms of market share in Asia.
VVT, VVA, VTEC, etc. All started with the Cadillac back in 1903, if I'm not mistaken. Porsche did it back in the late 50s. Torazza did it in the late 60s. Alfa Romeo did it in the early 80s. Honda did it shortly after Alfa Romeo. Most car and motorcycle companies have their own versions and they all just copy each other. Not a new concept but it is amazing never the less. Motorcycles had it back in the day but decided to phase out the system because the weight penalty of having a variable valve system was too much for it to be useful. I know there are holes in my data but I'm just going by memory here.
Its seriously time for yamaha to make a 250cc short stroke 4 valve single cylinder VVA engine. How long are they gonna milk this little 155cc vva engine?? Until the year 3000???
Toyota VVT is not the same as Vtec. VVT rotates the cam relative to the crankshaft. That changes the timing of intake valves opening and closing relative to the piston's stroke.

VVA narrow - wide timing cam step ,but VTEC low - high lift cam step.

is the VVA actuated by a hydraulic pin like in honda's vtec?
