- Mount Kilimanjaro is the highest peak in Africa at 5,895m and The world’s tallest free standing mountain. Often used as the training ground for Mount Everest, it isn’t to be taken lightly, half of all people who attempt to summit, fail. It pushed us physically and emotionally.
This is a film about perseverance, patience, and humility. Join us as we attempt to summit the roof of Africa.
A huge thanks to our friends at Summits Africa for making this unforgettable trip possible. You can book this trip by contacting info@nomad-tanzania.com and telling them we sent you! Unfortunately many tour companies do not pay the porters and staff fairly, if at all. Sometimes they rely solely on tips but the company will not let you know that. Sadly it is "NORMAL" on the mountain to feed porters ONCE day a only. Our porters get 3 meals per day to fuel them properly. Please do your research before booking your Mt. Kilimanjaro trek. Budget offers often means that someone gets exploited so it is worth spending more and supporting companies that do it right.

What an amazing film! I went into tears when Adam started feeling unwell. I cried so much because I imagine how devastated he must have been to not be able to continue, but I’m glad he listened to his body and didn’t push his limits even further. Tania, I applaud and celebrate you for continuing for the both of you. And I cried for the second time when you made it. Congratulations, guys. Not only for this film, but for all of your films full of heart. We follow other travel creators, but you are the only ones we watch as soon as a new film comes out, and always feel like the 30 or so minutes went by “too quickly”. Thank you so much for bringing so much passion, beauty and adventure into our lives. Big hugs from Amanda & Emanuel in Toronto, Canada. ❤
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us such a beautiful and thoughtful message, Amanda!! It’s made me well up 🥹 and this sort of feedback is the motivation we use to keep us sharing here. We’re so fortunate to have you in our community 💛 xx Tania
Oh god, I'm bawling 😭. You both must be so proud of yourselves, Tania for making it to the top and Adam for knowing when to listen to his nody and rest. Amazing video again x
Aww thank you so much, Denise!! Still pinching ourselves that this happened 🥹 Really glad to have you join us 💛xx T
Amazing film guys! So gutted for Adam but glad he made a full recovery. Summit Africa seems like such an awesome bunch. And so good to see they treat their porters fairly no matter what gender. What a truly inspiring film. Love it ❤
Hey Andy! Great to see you here, as always! Yeah, Summits Africa really does stand out as a wonderful company. They also provide mountain guide training for any porters who wish to upskill themselves. Like Eveta, she started as a porter and now is an assistant guide, soon to be a lead guide! She told me this job helps support her family and her sister's children too! 💛She is so proud and so she should be, she is a wonderful person. We bonded lots on this trip, mostly off-camera ☺ xx Tania
@@JitsIntoTheSunset Love stories like that. It makes what was an amazing adventure to start with into something that will stay with you forever. People are amazing ☺️
Oh dear Adam my heart was breaking for you. I’m so sorry you couldn’t make it but I’m so glad you listened to your body. Very sensible ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Tania I’m so proud of you beautiful lady ❤️❤️❤️❤️ you are so strong and brave. Well done you are so impressive ❤️❤️❤️ you had me in tears. Thos beautiful guides helped you so much. What beautiful people xxxx
While they are all exceptional, this showcase filled with such heartfelt emotion, perseverance, beautiful souls and scenery, overflows with sensation and peaks them all. I cried with and for you. Tania, Adam, and hosts, you are radiant, insightful, inspirational gifts. 🏔🇹🇿✨️🤗
Thank you for the beautiful words of appreciation, River!! It means the world to hear that our film made you share in the feelings that we had on the mountain. We feel grateful to have you in our community 💛 xx Tania
Wow! An absolutely beautiful & inspiring film… I’m sorry that Adam couldn’t complete the climb, but I must say I was crying with you Tania as you approached the summit. I felt your heart when you told Adam, “I’m going to do it for both of us”. You 2 have such a special bond and it’s such a privilege to come along on your journeys together. Thank you both and thanks to your amazing African guides- they ROCK! 👍🏾
Congratulations to the both of you. Kili is a beauty that truly humbles you and teaches you the truth about your journey of life and that it was never about getting to the top but about the journey itself and mostly about the transcendental inner experience of being at one with your own soul. Ive been waiting for this trip of your, knowing you will love but nothing can explain what true altitude feels like, there are no words and it truly does push you so far outside your comfort zone. Be warned, my whole life changed, forever after my Kili trek, I finally found myself on a true spiritual path, I thought I already was but nothing has prepared me for the awakening after Kili. 10 years later and I’m a whole new version of myself, authentic…best thing I ever did. Super proud of you both, only people that have felt her energy can truly understand her power of transformation, no matter how high to got to, she still transforms you, well done. Enjoy the ride from here on IN ❤
Thank you so much for sharing about your transformative experience on Mt Kilimanjaro, Helen. ❤ I’m glad to hear the mountain had this lasting impact on you too and only hope your words will inspire others to take this challenge on themselves some day if they are able 🙌 Thank you for taking the time to watch and be here with us xx Tania
Amazing. So inspiring! Another fantastic film. Thank you for sharing your adventures with us!
I glad to see in the comments I was not the only one in tears . What adventure! Amazing !
❤❤❤Love...Love...Love this video. I am planning Killi for my 50th Birthday next year and this has made it seem possible to achieve❤❤❤
Hey Tracie! I'm so pleased to hear this and YES absolutely.... you can do this!! Just remember to go Pole Pole, listen to your body and you'll make it!! What a brilliant way to celebrate 50 years of existence!! 🙌🎉 xx Tania
I summited at age 51. And not in the world's best shape (unless you count round as a shape). It is totally doable. If I can recommend 2 things: DIAMOX and ATTITUDE OVER ALTITUDE.
Your films always make time disappear 😅 how was that 30mins!
Really beautiful to watch. My heart went out to both of you, for Adam making the call to stop and look after himself and to Tania going forward, knowing Adam was there lovingly awaiting your return.
So grateful you sourced a reputable company who look after their crew ❤ another wonderful story to the collection
Well done team 🥰
Fantastic film and what an incredible accomplishment for you both! I'm so glad you listened to your body Adam, I think that was incredibly wise. Perhaps your headaches were actually gradually preparing you Tania! Our bodies are absolutely incredible, what they are capable of, but we are all so different. Personally, I would be perfectly happy just to go up as far as the foliage goes, pole pole, appreciating the flora and fauna.
The Summit Africa people seem amazing, so vivacious and supportive!
Thank you so much for taking us with you, giving a beautiful glimpse into an experience many of us will never know and inspiring others 🙏💛
It’s always such a pleasure to see you here in the comments, Nyree!! Thank you once again for your incredibly kind and thoughtful words 🥹 Yup, the human body is incredibly. To think that the one day that I suffered no headaches or other altitude sickness, was the most important day for me, summit day! All this time that’s exactly what my body had been doing, acclimatising to the low oxygen levels. Finally I woke up at midnight that final day and I felt well rested and full of energy. Wow! I feel so grateful for that 🙏🏼 and proud of Adam for respecting his body and the mountain. Our health and safety should always be the priority ❤ xx Tania
I finally found the quiet time I felt I needed to watch this one. What a gem. I really feel sorry for Adam not being able to make the summit but admire his intelligence to know this was not to be. Congrats to you both. And as always, well made docu, kids.
Aww, John!! Great to see you here, as always! This will certainly go down as a very special adventure for us, I'm delighted to hear you enjoyed it. Thanks for the continued support 💛 Tania
O...M..G!!!...you two never cease to amaze me. I cannot belive you dont have a million or more followers!!!!!. Adam...it takes a person who has the integrity to quit when you did. Do NOT feel bad!. It rakes great courage to go as far as you did!. Not many people have gone as far as you did. Your video taping is always amazing and congratulations on knowing your own strength and weaknesses. Tania... what do we say about someone who is the whole package? She is SO warm friendly and her face just illuminates every emotion. I cried for Adam and I cried all the way to the top with Tania. Not only did she have the courage to go on for Adam and of course herself...but she actually finished for all if us as well! Congratulations to you Tania...and thanks again Tania and adam for another superb video. Love and God bless you both from Canada... hugs and please stay safe for I would truly miss you... Cheryl
Beautiful! Congratulations to Tania for achieving the summit & to Adam for listening to his body.
What an amazing group of guides, porters, chefs and support workers. Thank you for acknowledging that many companies leading similar expeditions are not ethical in the way they treat their staff.
Thank you for the kind words, Ghislaine! It’s a pleasure to have been able to share in this experience with you in this way ❤ And yes, we were so shocked and disappointed to learn from the A-team themselves on how others on the mountain are treated. How other companies provide flimsy tents that leak for their team and only feed them once a day after a long days work (whereas Summits Africa feed them 3 times a day). Hopefully things will change on the mountain for the better ❤ xx Tania
Absolutely beautiful. A real tear-jerker. Well done Tania! Adam too, for listening to your body, that also takes courage. SO good to see you write about the porters and their fair treatment, I hope this inspires people to choose a fairer company like this too.
I can't believe this video has only got 17K views, I'm amazed by the quality of your films, every time. Thanks for sharing.
Very beautiful film. I appreciate two things (above all the wonder you present) and that is the focus on the help it takes to do something awesome and the appreciation of that help, and the freedom and ability to say...this is enough, no farther...when you have a set goal. It takes strength to do that because we are taught that we HAVE to finish things. But knowing your limits, whether those are physical or emotional, is even more important than that end goal. Adam shows us in this film that it's ok, and actually necessary, to let that goal go and take care of himself. We love that. Thank you again for sharing your adventures!
One of my favourite messages we have received… thank you so so much for your kind words. I appreciate your appreciation, truly. ❤ Thank you for being here and continuing to support our channel. I enjoy seeing your name pop up in the comments of our films xx Tania
I can’t believe Tania went on her own. Amazing. I don’t think I could have done that. So gutsy.
I definitely felt scared and doubted my abilities. Before settling off I wondered if I would suddenly get sick and be unable to continue. Luckily the one day that I did not feel any negative effects due to the altitude and low oxygen, was on the summit day. The human body is incredible... after all the headaches I had suffered, finally, I had acclamatised! 🙌 Thank you for watching, Louise. 💛 Tania
Great movie. We also just went up there, taking the same route as you did. Incredible experience!!
Hi Tania and Adam…..wow, wow, wow…….you deliver yet another stunning video for us all to be part of and I have to say that you brought a tear to my eye when you set off on your own to the summit Tania….I can only imagine the emotions you both felt at that time! What a fabulous group of people you were fortunate enough to climb with and so good to read at the end that they are well looked after also by the company they work for. Goodness knows how you will better this video and experience, but I shall be here to watch! Best wishes Julie 😊
What a beautiful message to receive. Thank you so much, Julie! The fact that you always take the time to leave us such thoughtful words under our films does not go unnoticed and is deeply appreciated by us ❤ Thank you for being here! Xx Tania
Jambo! Wow, thank you for this incredible video! Our Friends of Friends hiking group went in Jan 2024. Eveta was one of our asst. guides - she and the amazing A-Team truly made the experience magical. Like Adam, we had two of our nine that were unable to summit. Thank you for allowing me to relive this journey with you and share in your tears as you summited.
Oh my goodness, this is so wonderful to hear! Eveta is truly a special person... her physical strength and mental endurance are an inspiration to me personally. 💛 Thank you for taking the time to watch and for the kind words. xx Tania
Will watch when I get home. Looking forward to it. Your vids always make my day. All the best, you two! 🙏🏼😎
Yay!! This is one of my personal favourite films of ours ❤ I really hope you enjoy it as much as me, Jens! ✨ xx Tania
@@JitsIntoTheSunset I'm sure I will, Tania. Give Adam a hug from me! 😉
By the way, I’m not sure if I’ve mentioned this yet, but Sammy (my wife) is now Irish too. Since Brexit is a gift that keeps on taking and she has an Irish grandmother, we decided to apply for Irish nationality for her, which was approved last year. So, you two are fellow countrywomen now! 😘
Another great video well done, you are amazing, sorry Adam was too sick to make the summit, but it was the right decision 😊
Thanks a million, Christine! It's our pleasure to be able to have you join us on this adventure and share in these memories. We appreciate you taking the time to watch💛 Tania
Thoroughly loved this video, thanks for filming and sharing it! 😊
Yay! It’s our pleasure to have you be a part of this shared experience ❤ Thanks for being here, Kevin 🌟 Tania
Beautiful awe inspiring film! So sorry that Adam couldn’t make it to the top, but he was smart not to do it. Maybe he could have ended up with long term damage to his body, but he was smart to listen to his body.
Thanks for sharing this amazing experience, we feel so sorry for Adam but very happy for Tania. Kilimanjaro is not to be underestimated in anyway and you have to listen to your body and make the right decision for your own health. Watching your video made me quite emotional as I did Kilimanjaro with three friends 19 years ago, it’s definitely the hardest thing that I’ve ever done.
Hey Kevin! I’m delighted to hear that our film was able to bring back memories of your own Kilimanjaro experience. It just goes to show that a trek like this has a lasting impact ❤ Curious to know which route you took? Thank you for taking the time to watch, we appreciate you being here 🙌 xx Tania
@@JitsIntoTheSunset we had a bespoke itinerary over 8 days. We started on the lesser used Chambers route with options for camps each day depending on health and fitness of our small group. We did do the Barranco Wall as you did. It’s one of the best experiences of my life. Thanks for the memories xx
Incredible film! I am heartbroken for Adam that he did not get to summit, but altitude sickness is no joke and he was wise to listen to the message his body was giving him. I cried tears of joy and exhilaration with you, Tania as you walked those last steps seeing the sign at the summit. Absolutely epic experience for both of you. Thank you for taking us along on the journey and, as always, for so beautifully capturing and celebrating the men and women who were your support team. Bravo!
Thank you so much for this heartfelt message, Simone! It truly means the world to us that we were able to make you feel like you were right there alongside us, feeling the emotions we felt. We are so grateful to be able to share the magic of Kilimanjaro with you in this way 💛 Tania
Awesome Tania and Adam … and congrats to you both🎉 … Adam you were close enough and listening to your body is key … so applaud there for trusting you’re intuition and not you’re ego 👏🏼🙏💙
Well done Tania … great accomplishment … you finished the last bit for both of you 🙏❤️👏🏼
A great vlog… so well filmed as usual… thank you for sharing and taking us with you😎
Thank you very much for the kind words, Jo!! Still pinching ourselves in disbelief that we did this… feeling mega accomplished and can’t wait to take on more stunning treks like this around the world ❤ Appreciate you being here and supporting our channel 🥰 xx Tania
@@JitsIntoTheSunset aww you’re welcome! You are living life and experiencing much … and mindfully 🙏 look forward to the next ‘journey’ however big or small .. but always interesting and fun. ♥️
Another great video guys. Keep on inspiring ❤
One of my favorite channels. Love you two!
Thanks so much, Debra! That means a lot to hear 🥰 xx Tania
Many years ago I climbed Mount Kinabalu in Borneo. I'm not comparing them, that was a 2 day hike and 2000m shorter, but we did get up before dawn to see the sunrise from above the clouds. This video brought back a lot of great memories of that whole trip.
Congratulations on getting to the top. Great team, great video.
Oh wow, I bet that was absolutely stunning! We would love to explore Borneo someday - we will check out this hike!! Thank you for taking the time to watch and for your kind words 💛 Tania
Wow, that was amazing, spectacularly captured on film and beautifully narrated. What a trek and how thrilled you must have felt at reaching the summit, poor Adam will have been gutted but made the right decision and trusted you to get the job done, which you did, enormous well done! What a fun bunch of porters and so good to know they are well looked after by their employers, Summits Africa. Having your own tent, all set up en route, must have felt like a palace after a day’s pole pole trekking.
Unbelievable video. May be my favourite one yet? My heart broke for Adam and then I was absolutely bawling when you reached the top Tania. Well done to you both an amazing achievement.
Aww, thank you, sweet Lisa!! This is certainly one of my favourite films too - I think that without it, I might have ended up forgetting the details of each day and our fluctuating emotions. 💛 Thank you for your support xx Tania
So amazing. So inspirational. If you keep taking steps slowly one foot in front of another you will reach your goal no matter what, you just have to go at your own pace and know you can’t do it without the help of others.
So enjoyed this film. I've been to Everest Base Camp & Macchu Picchu and know first hand what altitude sickness feels like. Adam made the right call , it's just not worth the risk. The Summit Africa team really stand out as exceptional people, memories for a lifetime. Huge well done!
This. Was. DELIGHTFUL. Thank you guys so much for allowing us to live vicariously through YOU. 🙏🏾🖤👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
It is our pleasure to be able to bring you along with us - thank you so much for taking the time to watch!! 💛xx Tania
What a joy to see your adventure this morning. Your content is always the Best! Thank you for doing this climb. I have always been fascinated with Kilimanjaro. I loved my experience and sunrise on Mt. Fuji. I feel content to be with you in spirit, while I drink my cup of coffee 🙏
Yay! Thanks so much for taking the time to tune in - lovely to see you back here in the comments ☺Oh wow, I bet Mt. Fuji was something special, we would love to experience that someday. 🙌 Thanks again for your support xx Tania
wow what messages are conveyed in your brillant film 🙏🏻
i am so glad that Adam chose self respect and care for his body his well-being … the mountain gave it’s grace of clarity 🏔️
I'm delighted that our experience and message resonated with you, Michelle! Thanks so much for taking the time to watch. 💛I agree, I'm very proud of Adam for putting his health first. xx Tania
Love your video. I hope you can come to Mount Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia❤
Thank you so much for this suggestion! Malaysia is on our bucket list for sure! 🙌 xx Tania
@JitsIntoTheSunset awesome... I'm happy to hear from you
What an amazing film. To reach that summit Tania must have felt exhilarating. Adam you did the right thing listening to your body. Congratulations to you both 😊
Thank you so much lovely, really appreciate that! I don't think either of us will ever forget this trek and are both still feeling super proud (and kind of in disbelief) that we did it! xx Tania
Another incredible film!! And if we ever go to Mt Kilimanjaro, we'll know who to go-with! 😊 Amazing trek, both of you!! Beautiful footage, beautiful moments, people... simply breathtaking. ❤
Yay!! So glad you enjoyed this adventure… between this and Safari, Tanzania blew our socks off 🧦 💨 😅 xx Tania
We feel so heartbroken for Adam and overjoyed for Tania. I can't imagine having the full-time support of 21 (!!!) people to help me reach a challenge... clearly out of our reach.
Heyyyy! Lovely to see you back here in the comments as always, thank you for the kind words. 💛 You're right, we were shocked at first when we saw the size of the team but we soon learned that having such a big team is mainly out of respect for our safety. Unless you are already an experienced mountain guide who regularly climbs Mt Kilimanjaro, you need a team to ensure that you can make it safely to the top. It is too easy to think you can go at a faster pace and then fail to acclimatise which can lead to serious and even deadly results. We are so grateful to the team!! 💛 xx Tania
That was such an amazing film, loved every second. The quality of cinematography, the story telling, and the adventure is such a powerful mix. You've absolutely nailed it. love you guys x
Aww Ed!! It means a lot to us that you took the time to watch. Really appreciate you 💛 Looking forward to hanging out when we're back in the UK this summer🥰 Tania
Thank you for taking us on your epic journey
It's our pleasure to have you here, Gerard! I'm glad you enjoyed it 💛xx Tania
Wow! Just Wow! Thank you for a beautiful episode. So sorry that Adam couldn’t make it but glad to hear he fully recovered. Congratulations Tania on reaching the Summit, an incredible achievement. Not forgetting the awesome team that were with you every step of the way🙌
Yay!! I’m so pleased you enjoyed being here with us, Dale! ❤ Appreciate your continued support of our films and how you always take the time to write to us. THANK YOU! Xx Tania
Great video. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks so much for taking the time to watch - glad you enjoyed it! 💛 Tania
Guys..I couldn't click quick enough.. WOW.. so emotional... I smiled and cried all through the vlog. A fantastic experience, AMAZING company! Thanks Summit Africa for taking our favourite you tubers on such an incredible experience and looking after them so well 👏🫶😊. Congratulations Tanya on reaching the summit 🥰.. I felt your joy and pain at climbing without Adam. Adam you are a star! Well don't for climbing higher than "base camp on Everest", facing the wall and recognising that your life/ health are more important that climbing that last part to the summit👍🫠.
Your videography and story telling for this trip was INCREDIBLE as always. You both did "Summit Africa" proud! Thank you for sharing 🙏.
Hey Rebecca!! It's alwasy such a pleasure to see you here in the comments - thank you for always supporting us with such kind words!! 🥹 I'm delighted to hear you enjoyed coming along with us on this trek. 🙌 We have once last film to come from our Tanzania series which I think you'll really appreciate, so stay tuned for that! Lots of love, Tania xx
@@JitsIntoTheSunset Hi Tania.. can't wait for your next installment. LOL Rebecca x
Great video guys. Brought back great memories of my trip to the summit of Kilimanjaro. Like you, I was quite emotional at the summit. Never thought that I could do something like that. As you said, it takes many people to help you reach you goal, either on a mountain or in life. Recognize all and cherish them. Kudos to Adam for having the courage and good sense to listen to his body and stop when he did. There is always another time to try again. Best of luck on your next adventure!
Thanks a million for your kind words, Philip! It means a lot to hear that our film resonated with you and brought you back 💛 Curious to know which route you took and a stand out moment was for you? Xx Tania
Amazing - thank you so much for sharing and For Tania’s wise words ❤
I'm delighted to hear you enjoyed it! Thank YOU for taking the time to watch and for supporting our channel 💛xx Tania
Your story telling is always such a huge inspiration, especially your intros!!!! Well done to the both of you for getting as far as you did, and especially Tania for summiting! I struggle to get up Yr Wydda at times 😆
Thanks so much, Jimmy! That's very kind of you to say 🥹 I certainly felt anxious having to take on the summit alone that night, as well as having to think about capturing how I felt so we could round of the film and tell the full story. It's hard to feel motivated to film when holding the camera freezes fingers...so I'm glad it all worked out in the end 💛 xx Tania
What an amazing achievement and loved the film. The team looking after you were truly awesome - carrying all that gear up the mountain too. Truly wonderful experience for you both. The film was like we were with you ❤
Thank you so much, Lesley!! I'm still pinching myself - it's hard to believe that we actually did it. I'm super grateful to have this film to look back on in the years to come so I can relive the whole experience and our emotions throughout 💛 xx Tania
Amazing, that bought tears to my eyes, amazing team, amazing film. Well done all. And I love the concept of pole pole❤
Thank you, thank youuuuu! Delighted to hear you enjoyed it and that you appreciate the concept of Pole Pole too 💛 Tania
Wonderful! You were so kind to share the daily time and distance for each hike, did I miss the tabulation for Day 7?
Thank you for sharing your adventures. Congratulations Tania on achieving an amazing goal. I hope Adam healed completely from his sickness. Be happy and stay safe.👍👍👍
Thanks a million, Marie!! Really appreciate you taking the time to watch and for the kind words. It's amazing how good Adam felt once we had descended back into the forest. It's incredible the effects the lack of oxygen can have on your body 🥰 xx Tania
What an amazing adventure , surrounded by an amazing team of people. Your conclusion came from the heart and could not be more perceptive. You do deserve a bit of a rest after that huge undertaking, that’ for sure.❤
Hey hey!! Great to see you back here in the comments - I'm so pleased that our words have resonated with you. They did truly come from the heart. We feel so privileged to have had this experience and even more so to be able to share it here with you and the rest of our wonderful community 💛 xx Tania
Awesome Video!! Such great cinematography as always. Truly inspiring for all who watch. So sorry that Adam couldn't make the whole journey, but you have to listen to your body and heed your warnings!!
Hey Brad! Great to see you again here in the comments - thanks so much for taking the time to tune in and for the kind words. They mean a lot 💛Yes, I am so proud of Adam for being responsible and prioritising his health. I think we can all easily get carried away when a goal is so close that you feel like you should push yourself but doing that on a mountain like Kilimanjaro could have serious consequences. Thanks again for your support xx Tania
Bravo 🎉🎉🎉🎉 what an emotional rollercoaster. Love your videos ❤
Thanks a million, Tammara!! Appreciate you being here and taking the time to watch and support our channel🥰 xx Tania
Beautiful.. 💚💚
Thank you for watching, Ingrid! 💛
Such a beautiful film ❤️ inspiring and exhilarating from Australia!
Thank you for taking the time to tune in all the way from down under... we hope to explore Australia someday!! An epic road trip in your beautiful country awaits... 💛
Hi guys, as a hill walker myself I'm gutted for you Adam, but you can't mess about with altitude sickness. You live to fight another day. Tanya, what a woman.
Hey John! Thank youuu!! You’re so right, as gutting as it is… it’s so important to respect the mountain and our bodies. I’m so proud of Adam for being the responsible person that he is and not wanting to stupidly ‘push on’ to try to ‘safe face’. He knows his limits and it was the best decision for him to stay back and rest 🙌 Thank you for watching and being here 💛 xx Tania
lovely...
Thanks for watching, Steven! ☺️
I love Kilimanjaro
So do we!! 🥹 🇹🇿🙌 Thank you for watching 💛
Wow! WELL DONE, both of you. That was incredible, and we could truly feel all the emotions as you shared your journey, and was definitely emotional to watch, on so many levels. Thank you for sharing your beautiful adventure
Delighted it made you feel this way, Kathleen! It's one thing being able to experience this for ourselves but the fact that we are able to share in our memories with you and the rest of our community, well now that's just the cherry on top 🥹 Thank you for being here 💛 Tania
Spectacular & congrats … do it for the two of us … wonderful love observed for one another 🇨🇦 ❤

Thanks a million, Charlene! Appreciate you taking the time to tune into this film 💛 Tania
Hey guys I really enjoyed watching this episode. Adam you definitely made the right decision to stop, you listened to your body wisely. We could see it was a very emotional time for you Tania. But you did it for the both of you. Wonderful. God bless 👍🐸
Always lovely to see you here in the comments! Thank you very much for your kind words and support. Still in a state of disbelief that we actually did this... thank goodness for our film so I can forever relive the emotions that Kilimanjaro brought 💛 xx Tania

Hi ya Tania and Adam , the awesome team, what an awesome video. I was lucky to get a cold shower when I lived in a tent.l could have watched for hours, thank you so much for sharing. Look forward to your videos. Hope Adam is ok,take care and stay safe cheers from Australia 🇦🇺☕️❤️
Hey Barry! Great to see you here as always. ☺ Yup, having a hot shower towards the end of the trek to soothe our aching muscles felt like an absolute TREAT. We felt TRANSFORMED and slept extra well that night 😴 Big hugs from us two xx T
Definitely your most amazing video - so beautifully filmed and narrated. Very proud of you both for your achievement on Kilimanjaro but so sad that Adam didn't summit. Tania, you are a legend!
Like many others in the comments, I was in tears during parts of this video!!! And a huge shout out to the guides and porters who helped you on this epic trek. African hospitality at it's best.
Aww, Dianne, I'm so glad that you feel this way! Climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro was so much more than about the trek itself, it was about the people and all of us being a team and it was also an opportunity to learn about ourselves. Going Pole Pole for so long gave us a lot of thinking time which was incredibly valuable to us 💛 Thank you for taking the time to watch and for your continued support xx Tania

Well worth the wait for this one. Absolutely brilliant cinematography. As I remarked at the time commiserations to Adam but he knew and did the right thing and not putting his self at further risk. Congratulations Tania on your achievement. The emotion at the summit was clear to all. Well done.
Hey Ian! Always such a pleasure to see you here in the comments 🥰 Thanks so much for the kind words - still feels a bit surreal that we actually did this. Makes me appreciate the fact that we took the time to capture this experience on film so we can always look back and remember the detail. The landscapes, people but also the rollercoaster of emotions! 😅 Thanks so much for your continued support 💛 Tania
Wow what an achievement. Girl power !
Thanks so much, Mark! Really appreciate that... I still can't quite believe I did it! 🥹🎉 xx Tania
Very well done! I am very proud, hoping you are well. T,T&P
So happy to see the new video! Any idea when you will be back in Jits? Missing her in your content, although your three musketeers certainly make up for it 🐶🐾 xxx
Hey!! Thanks for watching 🥰 Oh yes, we are excited to be reunited with Jits at the end of July when we return to the UK. Really hoping she will be in a good state when we return and that we didn't forget to throw away a banana skin somewhere... 😅 xx Tania
y’all are my FAVOURITE PEOPLE 😭😭😭😭😭😭
Aww thank you, thank you!! Always appreciate your love and support! 💛
Superb video 🎉
Thanks so much for watching! 💛 Tania
There is not much you can do against that sickness. Just accept that you can't get up to the peak. Great heartfelt episode! Günter/Nürnberg
Absolutely right about that! I'm very proud of Adam for respecting his body and the mountain... you cannot underestimate the potential consequences. It's just not worth it. Thanks so much for watching and your continued support - always so lovely to see you pop up in the comments 💛 Tania
Awesome video! I just started vanlife myself as well! I’m a personal trainer who lives in his van in south Florida! Definitely love this lifestyle and freedom it brings! I also share videos on my page :)
Aww so great to hear that you are enjoying van life! Nothing beats parking up next to stunning views and making that your backyard :) Thank you for watching ☺ Tania
Nice sound. Thanks for sharing your adventure. After kalminjaro guys I recommended you visit the himalayan mountains k2 and Nangaparbat view point from one place moses peak. Add this sound in your bucket list.
Thanks a million for the recommendation! We love hiking Mardi Hamal in Nepal and since then we promised to return and hike more of the Himalayas 🙌 Tania
@@JitsIntoTheSunset yap cheers 😋
Thank you very much for replying to the comment. Whenever you start a short solo trip of 4-5 days, Moses Peak is a must. It is a 5300m height۔ from the top of moses pea which you can see the views of the K2 world second highest peak in the world, Nangaparbat, K6 k11 and K 12 views in one frame. best time from May to October. This is a family tracked.its open Zone, one did not need a trekking permit or have to pay Royalty fee to climbed this Mountain tower
Another epic video ❤🤘😎 Well done Tania for making it to the top 🎉 Sorry to see you couldn't join Tania but Adam you made the right decision to stay put and let your body rest. Excited for your next adventure guys, once you've recovered from this one 😁
Thank you very much for the kind words, Angela! 💛 I'm so proud of Adam - it's so important to respect the mountain and our bodies. Our health and safety should never be taken for granted xx Tania
I loved the video and i’m planning to do this trip myself. Just wondering how you got permit to fly your drone?😍
Hey Nicolai! Thanks so much for watching, I’m glad you enjoy it and really great to hear you’re doing this trip yourself 💛 The founder of Summits Africa organised the drone permit as separate to this film, we were shooting a film for him. Without his help we would not have been able to afford the drone license as it’s far too expensive for our budget. The National Park is also very strict about drone flights and so we would not advise anyone risk flying a drone without a license either because the penalties are severe we hear! Hope this helps and that you have an amazing time on Kilimanjaro 💛 Pole Pole xx Tania
Great video, sorry to see Adam not summit. It is important to look after yourself first. PS easy on the adverts there were way too many.❤
Thanks a million, Shane. Glad you enjoyed it!! Also appreciate the heads up, TH-cam automatically place way too many ads in our videos and this time I had forgotten to remove the majority of them as I normally do. All fixed now - I also hate it when films are interrupted so many times. xx Tania
The foreshadowing had me expecting something wouldn't go to plan but it was still an amazing video. Hard to imagine having a job like these teams who make it possible for people to do something like this. "Acclimatizing" to that job must take next level toughness. My commute doesn't seem nearly as hard. 😅
Hahaha yes... the physical and mental strength of the A-Team puts us all to shame! 😅 One of the things that we learned is that the mountain does not discriminate, so even a seasoned and experienced mountain guide could get hit with altitude sickness at any point. Even if they summited the mountain 100s of times before. 😳I'm glad to hear you enjoyed this film, thanks so continuing to support of channel 💛 Tania
I'm loving your travels but to be honest I miss your van videos also
Don't worry Donna, Jits is waiting for us when we return to the UK this summer 🚐🥰 xx Tania
YAY OH YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@@JitsIntoTheSunset yeppers, always sitting here with my little laptop, a hopin' and a wishin' for you to drop another splendid video!!!! Love to you both😘
Poly Poly!
Congrats on the summit….
A couple questions if you wouldn’t mind
1) who handled the drone permit and how much was the charge?
2) it looks like you climbed with altezza crew… did your operator sub contract to them?
Hi Rachelle, thanks for watching! Sure thing, see my answers here:
1. Summits Africa handled the drone license months before. I don’t know how much it was but I know it was expensive as the National Park wants to ensure that only qualified and responsible drone operators fly in what can be a high risk area. Part of the permit requires having an army official accompany the drone operator during this trek and their associated fees and expenses need to be covered. Something to bear in mind, if you were not aware of that already?
2. Nope, there was absolutely no affiliation to Altezza at all and my understanding is that Summits Africa do not subcontract to them, ever. We are happy and proud to say this was organised directly with Summits Africa. For anyone interested in booking this experience themselves, I mentioned in the video description that they can go through Nomad Tanzania who are approved contractors with Summits Africa. We already trust and highly recommend Nomad Tanzania for their incredible safaris & the way they genuinely give back to their staff and surroundings communities through empowerment programs. In other words, Nomad Tanzania and Summits Africa are aligned in their values which why they are one of their few chosen contractors.
I hope this helps and thanks again for taking the time to watch ☺️ Tania
I like your channel, therefore I subscribe, but I could never imagine having so many people to finalise my dream of climbing anywhere. Of course I understand that the locals earn money carrying tourists gear but do they earn a fair wage in relation to what tourists pay? I think not!! But hopefully you were fair play with paying tips. Safe, healthy and happy travels. Gail Czech Republic ❤️ ❤️
Hey Gail, this is a great point that you've raised. It is something that we considered carefully ourselves. As it turns out, the majority of the Mt. Kilimanjaro tour companies do not pay their staff and porters fairly (we heard this time and time again from the people who work on the mountain themselves). Some companies don't pay the porters at all, leaving them to rely solely on tips. The worst part is this fact is hidden from tourists. The reality is that climbing Kilimanjaro is already a significant investment for most of us, so one would be right in assuming that this means that the staff are getting paid well. Imagine adding a $400 tip on top of the cost of your trip only to realise that this means that each porter receives $20 for 8 days of work because the company that you paid for, refuses to share the profits with them!! Absolutely unfair. This is one of the many reasons we chose to work with and proudly promote Summits Africa, who not only pay their staff fairly and provide them with adequate training & career oppportinities BUT they also feed the team 3 meals a day (when the norm on the mountain is to feed the porters only once a day!). Summits Africa is also very strict on the kilograms that each porter can carry. 20kg max, whereas other companies reduce the number of team members by allowing the porters to compete for the work and carry 30kg+ each. Rest assured that every single person on our team, all 21, received the highest level of tips, on top of their daily wage. Thank you so much again for caring to ask! xx Tania
Amazing film.. are you guys film makers? How does one learn to shoot so well?
Thank you so much! Adam worked as a professional filmmaker for 10 years before we left London to go travelling together full-time in 2019 ☺If you are interested in filmmaking yourself, we recorded an entire podcast episode sharing our advice. Search 'Adventure Mindset' wherever you listen to your podcast and it's episode 6. 🎙✨Tania
What medication did you take for the altitude?
Hey Daniel! I think it was called Diamox... we visited a reputable travel clinic to ensure we were prepared with the right medicine, including malaria tablets. Hope this helps and thank you for taking the time to watch, I hope you enjoyed it! 💛 Tania
How much does this cost?
It depends on the company, anywhere from $2900-3200 pp and the company they are using is over $5300 per person.
@johnmabry9728 Good question John! As @thewilder-side2990 mentioned, the cost of this can vary greatly which is one of the reasons it is a trip of a lifetime for most of us. The most important thing to note is that not all companies pay their staff and porters fairly which is how they can offer 'budget alternatives'. So it is crucial to research carefully on which companies you want to support, what is their mission and whether are they transparent about how they treat their staff. One thing we didn't mention is that its common on the mountain to feed porters only one meal a day. Imagine! After all their hard work... only feeding them one meal. Whereas Summits Africa feeds them 3 times. We witnessed this ourselves... there were porters from other companies that would come to our camp and ask Summit Africa for spare food since they were hungry. xx Tania
How much does a trip like this cost?
Hello! The cost of climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro is not cheap and can also vary greatly between companies. With Summits Africa, the price per person is $5k+ which is one of the reasons it is a trip of a lifetime for most of us. @@JitsIntoTheSunset Thanks for the comprehensive reply. $5,000 sounds very reasonable to have 20+ people supporting you full time for a week or more. Plus providing food and guidance. Great video as always.
Looking at the gear I think it's great that there is luxery for people that value that experience. It's not something for me. I want to use my sleeping pad that is comfortable, great insulation (warmth) and only weighs 700gram (Thermarest). I don't need a tent I can stand in, when I can sit and move around a little bit its already fine, I have a pillow bag I can stuff with a sweater. Certainly, a shower is a bit much, I hope you were near a water source.
That begin said, probs to challenge yourself and also to share this footage with us. The advantage of the luxery is that you are supporting 21 people's wages for more than a week. It's nothing I look down upon it's just not what I would prefer.
a bit disgusting having an entourage of 20 hot showers and having everything set up for you. defeats the point of the whole experience.
Another amazing video! Well done both! So proud of you Tania for pushing through, and proud of Adam for listening to his body 💪
Thanks so much Toners!! So lovely for you to keep up with our films - hope you're doing great!! 🥰xx Tania
Wow. WOW!!! My cup runneth over with so much love, respect, admiration, and pride for the both of you. I can only imagine what a difficult and heartbreaking decision it was for you, dear Adam, to make that decision. And for you, dear Tanya, you represented with super human perseverance and a full heart. ❤ I am also in such awe of this EXTRAORDINARY expedition company that made this dream come true for you. I especially appreciate all the facts that you stated in the end about them because i have to admit, this is the 1st company I'm aware of who treats their employees with so much respect and dignity, including in the form of pay. 🫶🏽👏🏽
Hello lovely Gen!! Oh, I'm so so glad you feel this way - as always, thank you for taking the time to tune into our films. This felt like a very special one for sure. We were shocked to find out that it is the norm on the mountain to underpay staff (if at all) AND to feed them only ONE meal per day, not to mention not providing staff with adequate equipment or shelter! 😡Whereas Summits Africa does the opposite; fair pay, 3 meals a day, quality gear and tents, training, career development... the list goes on! We feel so proud to recommend them to anyone 💛 xx Tania
What month did you make this climb -- and did you take diamox (apologies if you mention it in the video - asking the questions before I finish watching it. I climbing the Lemosho route in the second week of this June!
