Sonos sounds absolutely fantastic, but these limitations are immensely frustrating and a huge negative. But I can understand they are bound to legal stuff too.
I found an obvious work around which is a bit in the grey area and only a little bit time consuming. If you found a really fantastic upload for instance, you can DL it online in HQ on some certain sites, then put it in a folder which links to sonos
So if I want to listen to TH-cam videos from an android phone through my sonos S1 I'm stuffed without a premium account (and even then only music)? This is a frustrating aspect of the sonos ecosystem as I feel it's really limited. I have my S1 in my bedroom but hardly use it as the functionality from my phone is limited. I find the audible integration is clunky too, as it often skips sections of books. I hope they come up with new solutions for these problems!

Do not ever buy sonos unless you want to spend a lot of time re connecting them, the sound is good, but definitely not worth the headaches of the time you have to spend, it almost seems like it’s every time you got company, for the price not worth it, I’ve did everything got a boost, new router, we have hi speed the highest you can get, fibre optics cable. I have play 1s, play 5, and sound bar….

I use Sonos since a very long time and have install it in hundreds of houses and it is by far the most reliable wireless music system. Even better than many wired device.
Totally agree, the number of times the speakers go missing on the network is shocking and add the premium restrictions, not worth it.

Great video, thank you. To clarify, if you can play your content on a TV (or any device with audio out), you can connect it to the Sonos Sound bar digitally OR the Sonos 5, Port, or Amp via analog.

What about using Bluetooth receiver in line in? I have 2 Sonos Five on different floor so can I use Android phone to connect to connect to Bluetooth Receiver connected to one of sonos five and then play songs on both sonos??
That will work for sure. But I will always recommend avoid using bluetooth if you can.
Firstly because there is a compression in the signal.
But in that case you also will have to live with a slight audio delay.
Not so bad if you listen to music, but terrible if you listen to a video.

Reading the Sonos comunity forums, Sonos seems to only work in wireless interference free environments, Here my question is: Why any Sonos issues like music cutting out or skipping are entirely related to network issues? Is it a software or hardware limitation that their speakers have?
Other companies like Amazon Echo or Apple aren’t so strict with our network setups like Sonos, Sonos Support seems to be just focussed on networking when there most be too many causes out there, like software glitches or hardware failures

You have a brilliant way of explaining these things, great content! Question: My Play 1s are very old and do not show up to cast or on AirPlay. I'm going to buy a Sonos Connect so I can plug my Macbook and phone into it. However I have heard that the old Sonos Connects do not work with the S2 App, so, will I be able to select the speakers to play my content from my phone/Macbook? Sorry if this is a silly question! :)

No as the old connect was not airplay compatible. You can buy any of the new sonos device and it will be able to share the airplay with you old play one.
thank you so much. I have searching for a way to get TH-cam videos on pc and i downloaded iTunes on my windows and connected my sonos speaker. I wonder why sonos doesn't make all of it's devices Bluetooth though.
Hi Nicolas! Thank you for your comment. It's probably just because the base idea of Sonos is to create multiroom speaker that play all at the same time the same things. Maybe one day they will.

Hi I want to buy Sonos One to use almost with my computer but dont have any solution to connect with speaker. So can i connect Sonos One with my computer by use software like "turnblade" to use Airplay 2 connection?
If you want to buy a speaker for your computer I would suggest not to buy a Sonos speaker. It's just note made for that and you will always have a delay.
Is there a way to use 2 different YT accounts ( 2 users )? This so we can both listen to our own playlists? If so, is it easy to switch from one user to the other ? Thank you
Yes you can it's very easy. You just add several account. I used 4 account on the same system.

Hey there I have a pair of Google Nest audio speakers and in the Google home app they have the option to cast audio to multiple speakers from my device. No matter if I'm listening to Spotify or TH-cam. Is there absolutely no way to get a Sonos one or multiple Sonos ones to cast audio from TH-cam simultaneously?
Hi Khoel. The thing is that TH-cam actually only accept to cast ''Audio Video'' devices. And it make sence because it is an audio video media. So it can't send the sound over here and the video over there. It wont be synchronies.

Any tricks on minimizing the 70ms lip sync delay when watching TH-cam videos on your Mac and Aircasting them to a Sonos? Seems like this should be a browser extension to delay the video so it syncs better with the sound.

How can my wife listen to her music in the kitchen and i listen to my music in the garage? Would we need the sonos apps on our phones and select the speaker to which we want?

Have you ever attempted to use a Sonos Playbar as your iMacs external speakers connected via optical digital? It does not work!
I didn't. But I might eventually try it with the Arc.

Well to connect it on an iMac you will need a converter to get from the analog output to the optical input.

I’ve read a comment of someone who was saying that if you play youtube content or tv programs on a sonos arc full system (sonos arc with a sub and 2 sl) you will only hear the sound coming from the soundbar (the sub and rears will be “dead”). Is that true? I am interested in buying a full sonos arc system but me and my family watch and listen to a lot of youtube content and Netflix. Now I have a big dilemma. Thanks
The sub will always be on unless you disable it.
About stuff that come from the TV, it will depend of what is playing.
It will send the original audio.
So if it's stereo, you might not get anything at the back.
Unless you play TH-cam music in music mode.
I have a windows 10 desktop PC and would like to use sometimes my Sonos system. I have 2x Play:1 and 1x Play:3 speakers. And no TV in the house, I use only my computer. How can I proceed ?
Hi Guillaume. You could connect you play 3 in you computer, then share the input to your play one. If I remember well, the play3 had an input right?

I am unable to cast audio from TH-cam Music on my Phone to my Sonos Move.
I only have the option to cast to my Google Mini & Android TV.
However! If using Spotify I can cast to the Sonos Move over WiFi.
Why is that? And is there anyway to I cast to my Sonos Move straight from TH-cam Music without change the move to Bluetooth?
Hi. You can't cast TH-cam to Sonos but you can Cast TH-cam Music to Sonos.
But the best way to use Sonos is straight from the Sonos app. There you want have any problem.
Same here my S1 sonos they say it was bluetooth but its hard to connect to youtube.
Only Move and Roam are bluetooth.
In my opinion. Sonos allows you to only play TH-cam music. Not interviews, etc. No one mentions this. Why is it always assumed that people only want to play TH-cam MUSIC on SONOS>
The thing is that it's the name that is confusing.
TH-cam is a video service, while TH-cam music is a music service.
Sonos can only play music service.
It's like if you were trying to listen to Netflix on Sonos.

So... I'm a dj and a client want to hire me and gig with his Sonos system (no inputs just wifi) I have a HP Pavilion laptop and a Pioneer DDJ SB3. I use to send the music to the speakers with a Behringer 1202. If I want to play music from Serato, can I connect the laptop with a HDMI to the Smart TV of my client? Like Laptop music→Smart TV → Sonos system????? Greetings from Mexico!!!
Hi Alexis. You don't want to do that kind of job with a Sonos System. 1 there will be a small delay. 2. Assuming you are a DJ, this mean there will be a lot of people when you will do your job and the wireless speakers may experience interference trouble.
So basically yes with the HDMI you should be fine but I do not recomend this setup for a DJ party. 😉

You can't. Air play is an Apple thing.
There might be some software that can imulate it but I won't look for this kind of solution as natively airplay is far from being perfect.

You are probably trying to sync something else at the same time? I don't see at what point you might get that.

That is right. Only TH-cam music is compatible to Sonos.

I never tried the Ikea model but it should be the same principle as what I explain in the video.
This is not really a bluetooth speaker (from ikea product), it required alot of app to use, download, and having trouble pairing with iphone 10xs.
Do you really need a paid TH-cam music account? There’s a thread in the Sonos page and many people writing say the play with the free account
I never tried it with a free acount but as far as I know, most music services need a premium subscription to work on third party device.

I am not impressed with the way things don’t jive with the Sonos system old and new. My system is about seven years old and I can’t play TH-cam or Spotify or anything through the Sonos system.
Hi Barb. Yes you can. The thing is TH-cam is a video service. No sonos speaker can play it natively. But you can add spotify and TH-cam music even with a 7 year old sonos system.

Sonos is a multiroom speaker system that can play music from music service.
It's pretty good at it and rarely bug.

I have youtube music premium. Have over 300 playlkst that I can see on you tube music app but when I go to sonos controller to play my music there is a limit of 99 playlist:( so there is no point of having this expensive system if it can't even play my music because sonos controller has a limit of 99 playilyst..youtube music can't cast straight to sonos so have to use sonos conteoller to play youtube music:(
Hi Marco! Wow 300 playlist is a lot of playlist. I think most people would never reach that 99 limit but who knows, they migh fix it in the future. However you should be able to cast it. I know sometime cast is not available but I will do a video about it in the following months.

Doesn't work at all. Sonos' sound is great, but don't trie to connect or try any other things that normally you'll only need to push one button or use an app. It's unbeleivable to be honest..

I got tired of watching, so to be fair you might have covered this but it was not looking that way. Sorry. But if you want to play a youtube video on your Sonos from your iPhone, you can go to sound/aircast and select the sonos speaker you want and it plays just fine on that device. I did not see an obvious way to play the video on all of my Sonos devices at once, but I did not need that today.

Cause if I was not moving I would rather take a picture of myself and read a text in voice over. But that would probably be way less entertaining.

I am beyond disappointed with purchasing two Play 5s. I feel like Sonos is holding me hostage! Can’t listen to my entire music catalog from my iPhone, which is PATHETIC! AND can’t play music directly from You Tube Music app to Sonos, have to go through the idiotic Sonos app which IS NOT THE SAME INTERFACE AS THE YOU TUBE APP. So you basically have to take time to prepare what music you want to listen to. AWFUL! Can someone please teach the twats at Sonos how to CREATE AND USE process flow maps in design??? I can’t even tell you how many people I have steered away from purchasing Sonos products
