    Part 2 for people that are in higher levels and are struggling to mix: th-cam.com/video/J_3XRP1AUVU/w-d-xo.html
    Apologies in advance, I say 'insane' and 'crazy' a LOT in this video. I wanted to make something clear in that I purposefully avoided Kameo combos in this because I wanted it to focus on Smoke. Obviously, in the part where I'm doing an air combo into air smoke port cancel I can call a Kameo to extend and continue the combo from the ground. Also after the throw from F1 -> 2 -> 1+3 you can special cancel into Vicious Vapors and cancel it to end up right next to them! As always, I hope this video helps :D

    Nice video my man. Mixups look insane, and I’m surprised how much depth the cancels add. Gonna take a while to learn in the lab but i think it will be worth it.

      Much appreciated! They do take a while to learn, but they are very worth it. It gives Smoke so many options to choose from when it comes to opening up your opponents. The biggest hurdle is probably gonna be conditioning your opponents to block a certain way, and then start putting cancels into the mix as everyone reacts differently to these.

    What kameos do you think are best for smoke? I'm using sektor rn and its an overall decent kameo. I just feel like his combos aren't strong enough compared to raiden, reptile, baraka, etc. His cancels can easily be poked in higher levels too.

      Yeah, in higher level play his cancels can be challenged as people know more about how to deal with them. A very safe pick would simply be Cyrax due to him having horizontal buzzsaw and combo synergy with up buzzsaw. Horizontal buzzsaw can be done on block while you do a mix so that way your opponent is still forced to block while they guess 50/50, and they won't be able to jab as Cyrax is pressuring and pushes them back far enough that they can't hit you. Or, you can use the horizontal buzzsaw to go right into another string and force another 50/50 situation if you didn't think you were going to win the previous one. Goro is another very safe bet as well because he adds a lot of pressure. His neutral assist causes people to continue blocking in the same way Cyrax does while you mix, or if your opponent guessed correctly and blocked you properly you can call the Goro assist to make yourself safe. Also his neutral assist can be used mid combo to extend and do more damage. Kano is another all around good one as his knives are just insanely good. They make you very safe on block and act as combo extenders as well for more damage. You can hold Kano ball while you mix and create a 50/50 situation that leaves you safe no matter what. One more recommendation, though he's probably the hardest Kameo to use out of these 4, would be Darrius. The main difficulty with Darrius is that you need to set him up for his overhead launcher. This allows you to create unwinnable situations for your opponent. For example, if you setup Darrius and you Smoke Port, you've created a low overhead scenario where they either get launched and eat a combo or you hit them with Smoke Port and you deal some damage. Of course, you can cancel the Smoke Port, but they still need to block because of Darrius' overhead so even then it's still favorable for you. Or, you can just F3 (low starter) while Darrius is out and have him launch for you. If I were to pick from these 4 however, Cyrax and Goro are the easiest and safest bets! I hope this helps :)

    Generally speaking what is something smoke mains should practice??

    • @cryingman7679
      @cryingman7679  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Definitely practice getting the timing down on Vicious Vapors cancels, as that is your main combo extender. Otherwise, if you check out my sequel to this video you should practice setting up ambush Kameos while doing specials as that'll let you mix safely. I would also say practice staggering his F1, 2 string and F3, 2 because those will help you in the long run. One last thing that you'll just get better at with time will be hit confirming strings into Vicious Vapors cancels. Being able to recognize that you hit your opponent in a real match and going into a Vicious Vapors cancels is really important.

      We do need more Smoke mains, he's a very cool character to see and fun to play against!

    I can't seem to get vicious vapers to cancel after the second hit in a string. Was this patched or am I not doing it properly? I can cancel after the first hit every time but never after multiple hits.

    • @cryingman7679
      @cryingman7679  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You should be able to as it's his main combo extend, so I doubt it's something that'll get patched out. The timing of the cancel is a little bit before Smoke would reappear if that helps. Because of that the timing changes as your opponent gets further away from you, so that might be the issue. Honestly, it's just gonna be something you'll have to build from muscle memory. Please let me know if this helps!

      Yes, this is a problem that a lot of Smoke mains will have especially at the higher levels. I will be making a follow up video on playing Smoke at higher levels.
