      I think this calls for a video regarding medication. I will get one recorded in a week or so and have it posted. Thanks for checking us out and be sure to drop by if you ever come to Sydney. Thanks

      try turning off lighting if they are in a new tank. May take sometime for them to get used to the environment. However, if you are concerned, start with heat treatment. 34 degrees for 7-10 days. Hope it helps.

    Hi Guys, love the videos they are very useful! I wonder if you can help I'm all out of options..
    We have a poorly dicus in a breeding/quarantine tank currently with its fry and partner. We have not seen it eat in over 6-8 weeks and has become very thin and was producing white poop. we have undertaken fluke and worm by NT labs treatment and also Hexamita, adding salt that extracted loads of white poop. The fish is looking worse for wear and the edges of the fins look tatty.
    This guy came out of our main tank 8-9 weeks ago when he paired. His fry and partner are in absolutely perfect condition but this one is isolated in a corner, with not really much movement and no appetite (Belly pinched in too) I have since just this second dropped in PP after watching your video to see if this will help?
    I have tried all foods, flake, pellet and frozen yet none attract his appetite. Water parameters have remained consistent for over 2 years and they only have RO water if this helps.
    Please help we don't want to lose him! thank you very much for your time and keep up with the videos they are awesome!

      Hi there. Sorry to hear about your discus and hope it isnt too late. If discus have become paper thin, its possible that the sickness have developed into turboculossis which isnt easy to recover from.
      Having said that, it sounds like it started out as hexamita. In this case you require metronidazole treatment. Daily dose 400mg per 40L with a complete water change and redose daily for 10 days.
      During this time, turn heat up to 34 degrees and also use food vitamins like Voogle or Dymax Arobiotics to increase appetite.
      Also try to find live blackworms to feed it so that fish can pack on more weight. If not live you can also use freeze dried blackworms (not frozen).
      Our best wishes to you. Let us know how you get on.

      Thank you very much for your prompt reply @@OZDiscus I really do appreciate your time in responding it just shows the level of care you guys have for people like us on here!
      Sorry for the dumb question but, do I treat the whole tank or just the affected fish in a separate quartine tank?
      In the UK it does not seem that metronidazole is something I can obtain easily, is there an equivalent in an aquatic shop or something?
      Regarding the Voogle - this looks like something I can obtain on Amazon, but am I correct in saying it is the (Easy Life Voogle +avoid antibiotics )
      Once again, Thank you so much!

      @@bselectrical478 try to see if you can get hold of Seachem Metroplex or API General Cure. Both have Metronidazole as active ingredients with Seachem being the better of the 2. I would treat the fish in a separate quarantine tank. no need to treat whole tank although if any fish shows symptoms, I would remove that fish also. Hope this helps.
      Voogle is a product by EasyLife yes.

    What is the treatment,plz guide...
    For fin flapping and discus fin got black..etc..

    • @OZDiscus
      @OZDiscus  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry for late reply. 2 very diff issue.
      - fin flapping - likely external related. You want a treatment for treating external parasite. Ie: Potassium Permanganate or Blue Planet Paraside can help.
      - fin got black - usually this is referred to as peppering. I would not worry about this as this is normal camouflage for fish with Pigeon Genetics. Only way to fix this is pop the fish in a bare bottom white tank.
      Hope this helps.

    I noticed my discus turns black when stress or when light is off. It brightens color when eating and is very lively. is my discus sick? if not(which i think not) how do i know if black discus is sick? Because i feel like discus turning dark to black is just normal

    • @OZDiscus
      @OZDiscus  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, depending on strain, discus like snakeskins and blue diamonds can look more dark when the fish gets excited or when its breeding. As long as the fish continues to react to you and eating, its safe to assume fish is ok. Keeping an eye on the fish for a few days. If its black constantly, then the fish is likely to have bacterial infection.

    Hi, since 3 days my purchased discus aren’t eating. I have put the temp up to 32 degree , partly water change but they still haven’t started to eat. Water quality seams fine .How many days can I leave the temp on 32 please ?

    • @OZDiscus
      @OZDiscus  ปีที่แล้ว

      Very common to take some time to settle. Temp at 32 is adequate but 34 is used when treating. Fish were held for a long time in our facility without issues. Just be patient. Nothing beats clean water and high temp.

    Hi. Love from Sri Lanka. Can i deworm the discus fry (about 2cm size) with metronidazole?

    • @OZDiscus
      @OZDiscus  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Metro is not used to deworm. You need to use Levimasole or flubenzole for worming.Praziquental can also be used for worming and fluke. But pls never use metro for worming.
      Those 3 meds i mentioned are safe with fry.
