As a man who has watched you for many many years now, im so glad you still bring such a unique and wonderful flavour to the battle report community. Such an emphasis on beautiful scenarios and boards... cant wait to watch more for 10th.
Regarding reserves, in the "Declare Battle Formations" portion of the Leviathan mission pack it states: "No more than half the number of units in a player's army can start the battle in Reserves, and the combined points total of those units cannot be more than half the total of their army." Also: "Reserves units cannot arrive during the first battle round and any Strategic Reserves or Reserves that have no arrived on the battlefield by the end of the third battle round count as having been destroyed."
I think the "destroyed reserve unit" changed from end of turn 3 to the end of the battle under strategic reserves with 10th. Agree with everything else though!
Just to say (awesome bat rep as always!), but the reserves and strategic reserves cannot come in until turn 2. That’s in the mission pack rules rather than the core rules.
I believe in the Leviathan Matched Play ‘pamphlet’ it states both Reserves and Strategic Reserves cannot come in (Deep Strike) in Turn 1…so I’ve been told…
GG both…right brutal smash up, possibly even made the mission almost inconsequential…but a fun watch! Perhaps would be good to see a few games aligning with approved tournament terrain set ups to see the mission/army impact but you can always dress it up to look nice!
Love seeing Firstborn Blood angels, I got a win with my firstborn Lamenters a few days ago. GW has done a good job making firstborn and primaris units good. Really good game to watch.
Would you consider magnetising the Baal turret weapon to try out the Flamestorm cannons on them…? They seem like an amazing 18” Overwatch threat covering large arcs of the board in your opponent’s turn!
Thanks for the ‘Reserves’ and ‘Strategic Reserves’ clarification, I agree, but as you said it doesn’t help that GW took away our Jump pack / charge bonuses which is the primary attribute to the theme of the Blood Angels, melee is secondary imo! 😢
WOOOOOOOOH Cannot wait to watch this and paint, get my box this Saturday, really looking forward to painting up some more Blood Angels to a StrikingScorpion batrep!
Slight spoiler alert!! Absolutely amazing battle report, happy to see the blood angels being melee powerhouses like they should be. I did notice somethings that I think you may have forgotten, easy to do with all the new rules and having to film but thought I’d mention them just in case. Firstly your terminators do have thunderhammers so 6’s to wound are mortal wounds, think it was missed a couple of times with the obliterators. Also the captains ability allows you to use a stratagem for free every battle round I think so when lazarus and the sanguinary guard were killed by abaddon you could of used only in death to fight on death and maybe killed the rest of the bodyguard at least. Anyway thanks for all the amazing content.
Cracking game gents, the Blood Angels are back! Also I may be mistaken but I don't believe you can use Command Re-roll for things like dark pact or psychic abilities
33:40 regarding hazardous weapons, you need to take the mortal wounds on the model that used it. It is only the demagouge that is a character. So the mind witch would die if the test was failed. no spill over
Oh hell yes! Definetly going to run a load of assault marines.. tempted to throw in a lieutenant and captain for lethal wounds and just bungle them into a land raider.. maybe chuck a librarian with my devestators for the invun save.
Nice BR. Just yo clarify Dark Pacts leadership test takes place after resolving the attacks. This is important because suffering mortal wounds won't affect the outcome of that attack. The Dark Gods always deliver their gifts, but sometimes they take your soul in return 😂😁👍
Luke, you literally didn't read the rapid ingress rule properly, you just assumed it said "...a unit that cannot do so" 😂 Using rapid ingress a unit cannot deploy in a turn it normally woupdnt be able to. So a deepstriking unit (other than drop pods, i think), cannot use rapid ingress to deploy in the first battle round
Fantastic battle as always. I'm really enjoying the first born bloody angels direction. Love that legendary channel army. Two brilliant armies and opponents in this battle. Amazing as always. 👍
The new random secondaries are overwhelming at first. But after looking at them a few times and playing it: they're enjoyable and easy enough to learn (and I HATED tempest of war.) But I agree that the mission rule (twist) cards feel random for the sake of random and don't improve anything...I'll suggest to my friends that we play w/o them :)
easy missions and scoring are nice, unfortunately it doesn't make it balanced. in older editions it was obvious some armies gave up things like slay the warlord etc. easier than others, that's why they created secondaries, so you can pick ones that suit your army or playstyle and you could build the list you wanted to playing instead of getting shoe horned into min maxing your army because of the extremely limited and static secondaries of pre 8th missions. I look at secondaries and scoring for 9th and this edition as part of the army building step. you want to look before hand at whether or not you want to play static objectives or flipping through cards, and build your list accordingly. then when you get to the table you know already how youre going to play your secondaries and will have built your list for any deployment and scoring combo you get. if you build your list around how its gonna score before you get to the table then it makes the picking secondary step a lot easier
Definitely disagree about secondaries. They add a little bit more nuance to missions and are more interesting than Slay the Warlord etc. They are also printed on a card that you can just have in front of you, it's not like you need to remember them verbatim. Thankfully they've got rid of Faction Secondaries though, they were a step too far and were just not balanced well. At least we're all on a level footing when it comes to missions now. When I got playing Horus Heresy 2.0 I soon missed the in depth missions. The ones in that book are boring and just swing way too hard either way. I know it's a narrative system so it doesn't "matter".
I've only briefly looked at the chaos marine rules but that list looks in preticular looks brutal a 10 man blod of termi's with abbadon, obliterators and two demon prince's!? Thats not including everything else it sounds terrifying
@@StrikingScorpion82I'm guessing with all the new shake ups to the rules I'm guessing the league tables are going to have a bit of a mix up my moneys on necrons for top of the league there looking preticularly devilish your thoughts?
They have had a rough go of it, but these BAs are the most beautiful on YT. Not that I wish this on you, but if any of these lads ever go for sale, I’ll be on the lookout ❤
As much as I disliked 9th, it was fairly balanced at the end. its kind of hard to start over, because the imbalance is rampant. I do like 10th rules though, now to have patience for the game to get back to a healthy game balance.
Archangels shard was a complete waste on the chaplain. The chaplain ability is +1 to wound anyway. Would have been much better off with either of the two remaining enhancements.
You sure can take Thunder Hammers on all of your Death Company marines, and they're ACTUALLY Thunder Hammers. Wulfen and Thunderwolf Cavalry can only look on in envy holding their "ornamental" hammers. The GW design studio clearly LOVES Blood Angels, Space Wolves not so much...
Perform a dark Pact and if they have the mark of specific chaos certain things explode on 5s. Lethal or sustained. Likes of terminators with abby have all the marks.
Each mark of chaos buffs their dark pacts to 5+ activation. Tzeentch is 5+sustain ranged, nurgle 5+lethal ranged, slaanesh 5+sustain melee, khorne 5+ lethal melee. Undivided is reroll hits and wounds of 1. Abaddon give his attached terminators all of the marks so they can go wild.
The chappy already gives +1 to wound ya can't get +2, but at least chaos on 5+ ? Love the list very thematic, remove one baal pred and maybe try a whirlwind to hold ya back objective
I see that you're using the score sheet that I made for 9th edition. I just updated it for 10th. If you want a copy of that, let me know and I'll send you a link.
Luke was running a Sons of Sanguinius (SoS) detachment which doesn’t have Doctrines, that’s the Gladius detachment… With SoS you can still use Oath of Moment however…as Luke did.
"If a Captain model from your army with the Leader ability can be attached to an Assault Squad with Jump Packs unit, it can be attached to this unit instead."

1:39:48 wasn’t that Terminator Thunder hammers and should have Devastating Wounds? Two 6s rolled… or was it something else.
Chaos Rhino and Baal-Predator having a close combat bonking-match in the corner was funny to imagine :D.
Lol...not very eventful😅😅
1:40:51 wasn’t that Death Company Thunder hammers and three 6s rolled for Devastating Wounds…?
2:13:21 lol, what happened in the shooting phase? Stuff died I guess… 😅
Just to say (awesome bat rep as always!), but the reserves and strategic reserves cannot come in until turn 2. That’s in the mission pack rules rather than the core rules.
Core rules has those covered under the "strategic reserves" page..I think pg 43 of the pdf
Ok thank you🙂
Been so busy this week, couldn’t watch til now… super excited to see Blood Angels versus the arch hertiks !!! 😁
Enjoy🙂👍
Haven't even played 40k at all yet. But I saw firstborn spacemarines n I clicked. Just started but already loving the vid!
Cool. Enjoy the video👍😎🙂

When you shoot anti-infantry weapon it means that 4+ score critical hits
Max amount and whether you can comet t1 is mission pack specific. Same as 9th. Leviathan has same limits as 9th
