We’ve had one for 10 months. Needed to fit 3 teens, plus baby seat. It was an easy choice. A relative bargain and amazingly comfortable on a long journey. 3rd row of seats big enough for the 2 tallest. Massively capable in poor weather. Fuel consumption is totally irrelevant unless compared to less capable soft-roaders. Absolutely love it!

Glad you're enjoying this car. Post-lockdown I intend to give on a test-drive. I know this car doesn't have a satnav, but I can see there's a GPS button on one of the screens that seems to give lat/longtitude - is that correct? I can't find any info online about this, or in the manual.

@J it uses Apple Play or Android equivalent. In my opinion this really works. Updated maps, fast navigation, reads out text messages, Zoom, and music in one place. Genuinely (relative) bargain of the century.

He complains about getting 33 mpg but it weighs 2.1 tons ! What does he expect ? Are there any reviewers testing this car that actually know what this car stands for, and what its all about ? Its a heavy old school 4x4. Everyone seems to compare it to ordinary SUVs and expect it to ride, handle and perform like a Kodiaq or a Qashqai or some other equally flimsy and pretentious "has the off road look" type of SUV thats only fit for school runs. I can also imagine there is nothing wrong with the 8 speed auto box either

Very true. Here's one of the best car reviews I've heard and the best S/Sport review. th-cam.com/video/80s_UD88AQI/w-d-xo.html I'm still poised to buy one of these and I'm keeping a close eye on the prices - they're coming down nicely. Boris' recent news about new diesel/petrol car ban is good news as prices will probably drop a bit further still. For me, in the near future, it's either one of these or a subaru outback (there's a new outback likely soon so the current ones might be discounted further). Outback less capable for towing than a S/S and a little less robust, plus CVT :( , but otherwise some positives with a larger boot/load space.
One thing to watch out for on the Shogun Sports. Some of the later models have the leather padding around the central consoles sides, some don't (produced in different factories? ) Some of the early S/Sport reviews had drivers complaining about the legs/knees rubbing the console on longer drives. These 'padded' models also have the extra usb/power outlets in the second row too. There may be some other slight improvements I've not head of as well. The new face-lifted S/Sport which we'll not be getting in the UK now has these and some other changes (mostly cosmetic and electronic ,so no big deal).

Simon George you have hit the nail on the head here... I own one of these and totally agree with you. I'm very pleased with mine

At the end he compares it with a Suzuki Jimny and says the Shogun is twice the price. Stupid comparison.

I own a Shogun sport (QE), and they are exactly what they are marketed as and they do it very well.... They are a true 4x4 off-road vehicle. The auto media always make the mistake of comparing apples and pears..... It's not a pseudo 4x4 SUV or a Chelsea tractor protender.
The Shogun Sport has a proper ladder chassis and has a 3100kg towing capacity.
Go look at the TH-cam OSV review for a true and fair assessment.

The back seats are pretty cramped compared to what? A full sized LR Discovery? They are more spacious than anything in its class from what I've tried on various D segment SUVs.

It would have been helpful if you'd mention Mitsubishi pulling out of the UK and Europe in less than 2 years time and what info. if any you have regarding the consequence for ownership, servicing (plus 3 service plans), warranty issues, parts attainability and wait, recalls, and all the other back up issues when a car manufacturer has no dealerships remaining in this part of the globe! Oh yes, likely issues regarding resell, depreciation given the above?

@@margarethoyle4887 You might also need to think about the fact that all shogun sports registered as of September 2020 in the UK, (i.e '70' reg and beyond) have been reclassified by the DVLC (according to my local Mitsubishi dealer) as commercial vehicles. That's even the 7-seater Shogun Sport. Basically, it just being classed like a pick-up. So that is currently £265 a year rather than £150. There's more to think about too. Because it weighs more than 2000 kg (2 tonnes), it's not classed as a Car Derived Van (CDV). That means you'll also have some speed restrictions compared to normal cars. These are max 50 mph on A roads and max 60 mph on dual carriage ways. There's no difference in 30 mph zones or on motorways. As mobile van speed cameras now log reg. numbers automatically, they'll probably know if your doing more than 50 mph on an A road when everyone else is driving a legal 60 mph (if they're cars). A pre-70 reg Shogun Sport is still £150 though. Hope that helps too.

As far as im aware there will be no problem with servicing and parts according to someone on another video. As for depreciation etc, that wont make a difference for me as I would intend keeping it 10 to 15 years anyway. It wont matter what its worth after that length of time. Once most cars get that old they aren't worth a lot anyway but its cheaper to keep it as a long term car than keep trading in every two or three years. Thats a proper waste of money. Get one good car to last instead.

@@oddities-whatnot Recent news is that Sangyong GB may take over some of the servicing etc. but not confirmed yet. CEO of SSanyyong GB used to be head of Mitsubishi UK, apparently, so there's an association.

Thanks for a good review. I nearly turned off (and did decide to to look at other off roaders) when you said the signals are on the right stalk. Plus the lack of a power tailgate has made my mind up.
