      Glad to see others in this nation realize Tennesseans can be cool as shit....despite the sad fact we'll surely be safely Trump come Tuesday. But I'm doing my part. Cannot wait to vote. I'm 37....and this will be the first time I've ever voted in a national election. My past apathy has been burnt to the ground.......by Trump. And I thank him for that. I will be apathetic no longer.

      A month before my Dad passed in 92 he took me on a little concert get away. James Brown in Cincinnati and Dolly parton in Tennessee. Those were his all time favorites! Years later we ran into Dolly at the Bluebird cafe in Nashville. Of course my mom had to tell her the big fan my father was and their song was Islands in the Stream. Dolly asked my mom if she had a photo of my Dad my mom pulled out their wedding photo. Dolly asked my mom to hold it close to her and she sang Islands in the stream for my mom and dad!! The people in Upstate New York in the mountains where I was from we're just like the people here in good old Tennessee. Most of our accents were pretty much the same as tennesseans LOL. and then in Florida I meant all kinds from everywhere. I find that people bought with them to Florida exactly what they were and had in the states they came from. Or the parts of the state they came from when they're speaking of New York.

Then years later when I was with my love we moved here to Gatlinburg Tennessee near where she lived and grew up. My husband was killed in an accident here in town and we had our Memorial for him at the local Park Vista DoubleTree Hotel. And we had professional musical artists and a video that was professionally done for us. Several of Dolly songs were on there including one with Kenny Rogers. Everyone was amazed of what a beautiful Memorial we had. So I thank Dolly for playing such a big part of our lives together ❤

      Actually, it makes a lot of sense. Country music partially evolved from Appalachian music, and Appalachian music has a fair amount of African influence. Actually, we have reason to believe that the banjo (one of the instruments most often associated with Appalachian music) originated in the Western part of Africa. Of course, the unfortunate thing is the specifics of how Appalachian music got its African influences, as it mainly got them via slavery. That said, given that, it’s not really that weird that you like Country music. Part of the genre’s musical lineage is from the Western part of Africa, which is where you are.

      @C J I was thinking about using the word America, and found it ok because the America's are named after Amerigo Vespucci, who came up with the idea that the land Columbus found was indeed a separate continent rather than part of Asia. So because the old songs we're talking about are not predating "America's" I think it would be a good name to call them the old songs of America's 🤷🏻🤔 although that might be misleading to some, and as a huge admirer of native American culture's there could be a better name, because it does sound like it refers to native American songs🤔

    • @TuizaLilia
      @TuizaLilia 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @C J sorry I miss understood your message. Excuse me for that. I'm not native in English myself, as I'm Finnish, so sometimes thqt happens. Now that I read your message again I got that you meant that these folk songs are older than America, that some are older as they are from the "old world" meaning that they came from Ireland and Scotland with the migrants. Is this what you meant?

    • @TuizaLilia
      @TuizaLilia 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @C J ah, yes, Dolly called them to be from the old world 🤦🏻 that went past me in the interview as she's talking quite fast and has southern accent, which I adore, but it's harder to understand than "basic" American accent, that for example, Colbert is speaking 🤦🏻🤦🏻😅 and sorry, my commas are everywhere because I tend to use them like we do in Finnish writing, this is not my fault tho, I blame the school system, because they never taught us how to use commas in English 😂 now I hope people get that was a joke, and don't come after me, like last time I made a "sarcastic joke" I got some far right lady coming at me for being so hateful etc. When I was in no way hateful, it was completely ridiculous, because when I apologized, she didn't let it go but kept on coming, and qhen I asked her to stop and calm down said I really was sorry for offending her, she still kept badhing me.. So now I try to make sure I announce my "jokes".. I've noticed that some of the ways we joke around and are veeery very different, it's cultural thing..
