My favorite movie that starred Don Knotts still is “The Ghost and Mr. Chicken.” Don shivers and shakes in fear but eventually becomes a hero. It is truly fun family comedy.
My favorite movie as well. I remember one time in the movie when he was talking on a microphone to a crowd of people when the sound made a loud ringing noise. When the ringing noise was over he said the sound person must be a Democrat LOL.
Mr Limpet, and the Shakiest Gunn in the West. By far my ABSOLUE FAVORITE was the Ghost and Mr Chicken though. I periodically still get the theme tune stuck in my head. Lol
My husband and I were almost literally “rolling in the aisle” when we saw THE APPLE DUMPLING GANG “. This guy with Tim Conway? Unbeatable!!! Thank You God, for Don Knotts and Tim Conway.
Actually, in real life he suffered from anxiousness, having had a rough childhood - a kid who just wanted to be happy, and make others happy too, with his comedy; he even sent his own daughter guffawing out of his hospital room on his own death bed.
Back in 1992 in Branson, Missouri Don was in a comedy show that I attended. After the show I reached out to shake his hand. Instead of a handshake Don said uh uh and hugged me! Bless him!

No one could have done what Don Knotts did in developing the character of Barney. He gave us new insight into this character on a regular basis. I loved the beauty of the on-screen relationship between the simple yet complex deputy and his boss, the sheriff. No matter how many times I’ve seen an episode, I can still fall in love with a rerun when I come across one.
I loved how they showcased the friendship between him and Andy. I like how Andy understood Barney and loved him and always protected him from looking foolish to others. He would turn a situation around and make Barney appear a smart hero!!😊 That show had a lot of Heart!💜

Don Knott's was always there throughout the decades making scores of generations laugh. He was quite the entertainer and will always be fondly remembered. Grateful for the many laughs for many years.
Pamela Carnes Me too. I've always loved Don Knotts. I always remember the scene where he is walking across the desert calling for "water...water" Funny as. I think it was "the shakiest gun in the west" He was a very funny man, that's for sure, made me laugh many times during my years.
I did too. It’s funny just a couple weeks ago I asked my husband if he thought our 6 year old granddaughter would like it. (Limpett). I couldn’t have been much older when I saw it🤔
I’ve been a big fan of Don Knotts since watching The Andy Griffith Show. He’s one of a kind and could never be replaced. Everyone could relate to him I think. Learning about his real story makes me admire him even more. Thanks for this video about a great comedic actor.
I loved the movie “The Shakiest Gun in the West,” staring Knotts. As a pre-teen I watched it for the first time with my family. I remember my Dad and I roaring with laughter at the end.
I remember going to the drive- in theater With mom to see The ghost and Mr. Chicken. Halerious fun ,good memories. Thanks Don you were a one of a kind.
Great movie that and The Incredible Mr.Limpett. That was some incredible work for that time in movie development. Him interacting with a cartoon. He was genius.
Me too! First time I ever went to a drive-in as a little kid. My dad and mom took me and my brother. It was great! I'll never forget that as long as I live. I still love that movie.
@@lorinwegand6324 that was the character he was told and enjoyed playing. He did a great job as Barney Fife. I still watch reruns today and today is March 7th 2022. It gets my mind off what's happening throughout the world not for the better. I watch the Andy Griffin show almost every single day, and it gives me a good laugh for the day and brings my spirits up.
When I was about 4 or 5 I told my mom I wanted to change my name to Barney. Rest In Peace Don Knotts you brought happiness to millions of people. Nobody in this world could ask for more.
I really appreciate learning more about Don. Thank you! Such a loveable guy. Cool to hear how he overcame anxiety meds and faced therapy in an era when it wasn't the most accepted thing to do. Impressive. :)
Don Knots will always be one of my favorites! As an anxiety sufferer myself, I give Don Knots credit for doing everything he did. It’s not easy to do a lot of things if your having bad bouts of anxiety, stress, etc.
My father who was a staff sergeant in the air force loved Don! God rest his soul. The Incredible Mr Limpet stole my heart as a kid. I grew up with tough times as well. Him as the astronaut was hilarious! Three's Company and more. Thank you for sharing!❤️
He's my all time favorite. I love Mr Limpid but I also loved him in the Western with Racquel Welch, so cute. I'm happy that he had a long life. My son got a chihuahua at six and I told him the dog shakes like Don Knotts, since he didn't know who I was talking about we looked him up on TH-cam. He fell in love with his humor and antics. He's was the very best.
What a great man and wonderful actor! You are missed greatly Don, the laughter you have brought to millions of us is priceless therapy. Rest in peace Don. ❤️
My brother owns that movie ("The Ghost and Mr. Chicken ) he once loaned it to an elderly womam my sister took care of , one day my brother went to visit her and she told him with a look of fear in her eyes , " why did you let me borrow this movie I thought you said it was a comedy " 😂😂😂
Private Eyes is one of my all time favourite films, ever! Don Knotts and Tim Conway is a mix that is beyond brilliant. I still watch this movie and laugh. Mr. Knotts' role on Andy Griffith is iconic and plays on television to this day where I live. While he may be gone, he will NEVER be forgotten.
Pretty sure Don Knotts was a part of most of our lives in one way or the other... he's an amazing talent & left his permanent mark in Hollywood. RIP Mr. Knotts Thanks for all the laughs!
He was a great comedian, for sure! We watched the Andy Griffin Show as kids and everybodies favorite character was Don Knotts, he would make us roar with laughter! I salute him for choosing to work out his past and press on, even with the challenges he carried. Thank you for your humor and may you continue to thrive on the other side of this life!
He had the gift of making people laugh. His daughter really appreciated that part of him. Had to leave the room laughing so hard. He wanted his daughter to know to laugh, smile even under difficult circumstances. He will always be remembered, respected and loved! Condolences to his family and friends. We need more people who have the gift of happiness and laughter to spread out in our lives. Too much profanity today! Thanks Mr Knotts for the humor, Peace!
I loved Don Knotts so much. As a young kid, I watched Three’s Comoany for Mr. Furley & Jack Tripper (in that order). LOVED when Mr. Furley drank alcohol then said, “SMOOTH.” With the hands up. Classic! I didn’t watch The Andy Griffith show much until I realized Barney was Mr. Furley (I wasn’t even 10 yet at this point). Don Knotts is so awesome. My other favorite role of his was The Incredible Mr. Limpet. As a kid, I wanted so desperately to live in the ocean. Watched that movie as many time and as often as it would come on. Whenever we’re at Disneyland (California Advemture) & we go on the Little Mermaid ride, I look for the Mr. Limpet fish they put in as an homage to Mr. Knotts. Warms my heart. Thank you for doing this piece on him.
I'll never get tired of watching Don Knotts perform. His timing was impeccable. His facial expressions and mannerisms were so natural, he became whatever character he was portraying. He deserved so much more recognition for his talent.
"Made appearances on Three's Company..." No no no he didn't just make appearances, he was the revered Mr. Furley!! I can understand why Barney Fife is considered his most iconic character, but my favorite will always be Ralph Furley.
Don Knots will always be one of my favorites! As an anxiety sufferer myself, I can give Don Knots credit for doing what he did to bypass his hard childhood growing up. He overcame it and received help and had great friends with him. He was a great guy.
The organ playing by itself in the tower, gave me nightmares as a kid and, I still get goose bumps at 56 yrs when I remember the movie. It's still my favourite movie of his, followed closely by 'The Shakiest Gun In The West'.
I grieved when he passed away. I loved his various performances but he helped me even though we never met. We had similar childhood experiences and I too wanted something better. I saw in him that I could get where I wanted. Thank you Mr. Knotts. I wish I could've told you in person.
LOVE,LOVE,LOVE DON KNOTS. I LOVED HIM THE MOST AS DEPUTY BARNEY FIFE. HE MADE THE SHOW A HIT JUST AS SURE AS ANDY GRIFFITH. THAT ENTIRE CAST WAS AWESOME!!! ONE OF MY ALL TIME FAVORITE EPISODES WAS WHEN HIM & FLOYD WERE FISHING & THE GALS WHO WERE ESCAPED PRISONERS TOOK THEM HOSTAGE. IT WAS HILARIOUS WHEN THEY WERE MAKING THE GUYS DANCE WITH THEM. BARNEYS FACIAL EXPRESSIONS ALWAYS JUST MADE ME DIE LAUGHING NO MATTER WHO HE WAS PLAYING.
There wasn't much laughter in my childhood, but Don Knotts always brought sunshine and hilarity to brighten the eyes of a child. One of the most beloved comedic actors of all time.
I never get tired of him and his characters. He is fine-tuned, excellent in his acting and cute too. He can really keep the viewers attention wherever he appears. He really does steal the stage. I first became fond of his voice in Mr. Limpet. I still watch Barney Fife. It is quite uplifting to visit him that way.
Don Knott’s classic appearance and frame coupled with his artistic talent in manipulating his voice and his neurotic presentation truly made him an instant star as Barney Fife and as Ralph Furley for generations to come. One of the best funny men in show business! R.I.P.
I grew up in the 1960s watching The Andy Griffith Show. I always loved Don Knotts. But now that I'm older I have learned to appreciate him far more. Don knotts was/is an American treasure and institution.
@@LearnAboutFlow So does a lot of gay comedians, but I guess it's ok for them, correct? What is sick, is anyone who can not laugh at themselves now and then. Like Ross Perough when asked a question once he said I'm all ears. (he had large ears) When you can laugh at yourself, people laugh with you, not at you, see the difference? Maybe Don was Gay also.
@@jerrylong6238 Um, NO. The Stanley Roper character was homophobic but was subtle and made sense given the context of the times. The Furley character was WAY over the top with the homophobia and was an embarrassment and truly insulting. And i'm not sure how a straight actor playing a straight character degrading gay people in such a viscous way is laughing at himself. Do you make fun of minorities and then laugh at yourself? There was no counterbalance to Furley's homophobia as with All in the Family.
Don Knotts cracked me up too. He always made me laugh so hard. He had talent when it came to making people happy. Even though he endured abuse as a child, he grew up and surpassed the abuse and sadness with that of laughter and comedy. Don will be greatly missed!!!
@Mauro Maxwell That is very sweet of you 🙏🏼 you made me smile 😊 I love TH-cam so you’ll see me write comments on here, lol 😂 I hope you have a beautiful day love

Been watching the AGS since I was a kid and still watching today- the shows never get stale- you see Don break character in a few- and you see his range- best actor that’s for sure.
The Andy Griffith Show with all of the characters were just amazing and tons of fun to watch. All of them were truly talented and will never be forgotten...especially Don Knotts; What ah comedic genius!! Extremely brilliant at his craft. Super funny!! He can never ever be replaced. The one and only Don Knotts...an original!!
I absolutely love the "Andy Griffith" show mostly because of Don Knott's role as Barney Fife. He was so funny and I still watch the show every day. God bless you Don. I will always love you.
Don was a comic genius and a great actor. Sad to hear of his anxiety. He was over the top in Mr Limpid. Fantastic movie that will always be in my memory. I'm 67 and have watched him while growing up. A very fond memory. I was chuckling the entire time I watched this out of respects for him.
I am not sure if you meant 'The Incredible Mr. Limpet'. This is a mix of animation and live action. Don turned into a fish. I have watched it many times. It is a very fond memory of watching this with my Dad.
His talents as a stand up comedian, tv and movie actor were just fantastic! Also loved his genius skits in the Steve Allan show. MGBY Don and Thank You for all the entertainment!❤️
Cant believe you didn't mention Don Knotts incredible work on the show 3's Company from 1979 to 1984. Even at 60 years old, he was killing it with his comedy.
I only saw him on television.. Yet, I was amaze at how talented he was.. When I read about his demise I was very sad. I felt his loss. A man I never knew in person.. I was lost and hurt and I cried like I never cried before .. It was a cry from my heart!!.. I wish I could have met him in person, and talk to him.. Yet, my financial limitations never allowed me. .I just wanted to meet him and.. let him know that he was the person that made me laugh in the most terrible, dangerous, worst and sad times of my young life.....He was an exceptional actor and now I am learning an exceptional man, father and friend. His family should be very proud of him!! for I am; and I am not related to this wonderful comedian.. I give thanks to God for placing him in my path! RIP Don Knotts.. you will never be forgotten.. I just wish to meet you at least on the other side.. If there's any!
Having grown up in the '60's with Don Knotts as a common place fixture on TV, I couldn't appreciate him. Even knowing what I know, now, he was such a natural that it's hard to conceive the energy he put into every second on the screen to make us all laugh.
I will never forget his movie:"The Shakiest Gun in the West". Screamingly funny, not a dry eye in the house nor a dry pair of knickers. Laugh?! I thought I'd die!
Don Lnotts was a great actor and I knew I was going to laugh like crazy if he was in a movie I was going to watch, Don Knotts you are missed terribly missed!
Don Knots gave a gift to do many, that just keeps on giving, entertainment, even more so to this is laughter, which is even medicine. He’s a National Treasure & one of my all time favorites.
Don was the best male supporting actor of all time. On a smaller scale (of course) I believe Melissa Peterman is the best supporting actress of all time. Who doesn’t love Barbara Jean from Reba?
@@chadwickwhite6107 Who said anything about that? If you read my comment correctly, I said “Who doesn’t love Barbara Jean from Reba? I didn’t say Reba loved Melissa Peterman although I saw an interview Reba did about 2 months ago and she said she loved and kept in contact with all the cast members and she said “Melissa was one of her very best friends in the world”. I loved Don Knotts. I loved the role most of Deputy Barney P., God bless this wonderful entertainer, he accomplished his goal, I laughed constantly while watching him perform.
My favorite Don Knotts role was Barney Fife. Over 60 years later, I still remember the one bullet deputy, and his choir performance using the “special” (aka silent) microphone became part of my family’s litany of jokes. He was a comic genius. Me too. I've always loved Don Knotts. I always remember the scene where he is walking across the desert calling for "water...water" Funny as. I think it was "the shakiest gun in the west" He was a very funny man, that's for sure, made me laugh many times during my years.
Yess he was very funny

It really makes me happy that Don Knotts and Andy Griffith were good friends in real life! I grew up on the Andy Griffith Show, and loved Mr. Limpett
It makes us happy too, Blake!
Me too 😀👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

Still stands up today.
For me it was the ghost and mr chicken 🤣
What a beautiful soul. I loved all of Don's work. A million laughs if not more
I remember going to the drive- in theater
With mom to see The ghost and Mr. Chicken. Halerious fun ,good memories.
Thanks Don you were a one of a kind.
Great movie that and The Incredible Mr.Limpett. That was some incredible work for that time in movie development. Him interacting with a cartoon. He was genius.
Halerious?
Incredible Mr. Limpet was good too.

I don’t know anyone who didn’t like Don Knotts, he was so funny with his facial expressions and verbalizing, he was loved by all. May he RIP! ♥️

Don seemed like a great guy in real life but on Andy Griffith I found him to be over reactive and hopelessly immature.
@@lorinwegand6324 that was the character he was told and enjoyed playing. He did a great job as Barney Fife. I still watch reruns today and today is March 7th 2022. I really appreciate learning more about Don. Thank you! Such a loveable guy. Cool to hear how he overcame anxiety meds and faced therapy in an era when it wasn't the most accepted thing to do. Impressive. :)
The Andy Griffith Show. It wasn't the same without him.
So much not the same that they almost never show the ones without him.
5 Emmy's in a row

It sure wasn't! I feel ya 😁🖒
Don knotts made the andy griffin. Show it was funny without donknottd
Andy Griffith show was a classic, no doubt, especially with Don Knotts.
Who actually made andy griffith ? Did don support andy or did Andy support don?
I’m watching the series now on Dish it’s good down home humor and I love it

Don Knots was my favorite. I still will watch anything with him in it. He just has a way of taking you to a place of joy when you watch him.
Don Knotts was one of a kind. He was great fun to watch.
Don Knots will always be one of my favorites! As an anxiety sufferer myself, I give Don Knots credit for doing everything he did. It’s not easy to do a lot of things if your having bad bouts of anxiety, stress, etc.
Start by telling yourself that you do not have anxiety! Trust me it will lead to liberation! 💜
I agree. I too am an anxiety sufferer and its challenging.
I have been healed from anxiety by the Lord. If you trust Jesus he will help you.

We agree, AMB!
I agree, but the name was Limpit, as in Limpit Mine.

I love The Ghost and Mr. Chicken and Don as Barney Fife

It bombed at the box office but ended up being a cult classic
The Ghost and Mr Chicken was also good.
Thanks for watching, Grace!
I like when he was on 3 company lol
He was one of my favorites!
Well said! It proves you don't need profanity to be a successful comedian! Don Knotts was EVERYTHING ❤
P
I'll never get tired of watching Don Knotts perform. His timing was impeccable. His facial expressions and mannerisms were so natural, he became whatever character he was portraying. He deserved so much more recognition for his talent.
Who remembers that he had only one bullet that he kept in his shirt pocket??
Hey Larry, the guys I shoot with call a single round a Barney Fife. Lol
Yes. Barney had a problem with discharging his revolver accidentally. So that's all Andy would allow him to have.

"Made appearances on Three's Company..." No no no he didn't just make appearances, he was the revered Mr. Furley!! I can understand why Barney Fife is considered his most iconic character, but my favorite will always be Ralph Furley.
Fred Fox: You are right.. He was great as Mr Furley on Three's Company!.. I been watching those videos for I was born later in life.

A fan of the man.

Thank you Don for making me laugh on "Three Company" and many other movies and TV shows.
He did know how to debase gay people for a laugh. sick
Maybe Don was Gay also.
yeah, i remember him mostly in Threes Company, but i think he did many sitcoms
@@jerrylong6238 Um, NO. The Stanley Roper character was homophobic but was subtle and made sense given the context of the times. The Furley character was WAY over the top with the homophobia and was an embarrassment and truly insulting.
And i'm not sure how a straight actor playing a straight character degrading gay people in such a viscous way is laughing at himself. Do you make fun of minorities and then laugh at yourself?
There was no counterbalance to Furley's homophobia as with All in the Family.
he was wonderful in that.
Always LOVED everything that Don tried. He was a wonderful tallent!!
