  • After Several months of delay and 2000+ miles of break-in and learning the bike I finally did it. I read a bit on
    drriders.com/to...
    and
    www.thumpertalk...
to get some good ideas and insight. I will be doing a follow-up when I have time to clean it up and put a coat of paint on it.

I am 6’ 1” and I did that to my last DR650 some five years ago and it worked wonderfully well for me. I have another DR on me and I plan doing the same to this one. Thanks for the video mate

I have tought about this before but had never seen it done, one question Mike, do you ride standing up sometimes with no problem so far? If you do I´ll do it because the kit is expensive.

I rode standing both on pavement and dirt, the slightly wider stance of the pegs and the 1 inch shorter risers made it as comfortable as possible. Something else might be prettier but not more comfortable!

Great job man.I'm 6'1 , i own a 2006 dr650se i just bought 50mm bar risers and a new protaper bar, that was my first step at making standing and riding a bit more comfy. But i gotta lower my pegs. thanks for the vid!

50mm, I have been wondering what size would work, that is what I was looking for. Thanks Mike

Hi, how do you go with the rubber bushes, did they melt when welding?

Is it enough strong ? Mig/mag welding isn,t so reliable than stickwelding. I don,t like possibility that it brokes when I am standing on it and driving or jumping....

Not sure where you get your information from, but you're dead wrong. How do you think truck frames and commercial trailers are built? GMAW and FCAW are standard processes used in high production facilities wolrdwide.

I'am a factory prodaction maintance person. Welding is one of our process which we use. So I know something about it.

@@kta3917 Have you actually taken a welding course? lol. I've been welding for 23 years, fabricating industrial machinery trailers with three phase gmaw (mig) welders. We don't even own a stick welder. Stick welding has it's uses, usually outdoors when erecting scaffolding, etc, where you need to be further away from your rig. Many pipeliners are using tig for their root pass and capping with flux core.

So far my Lincoln 155 has done everything I needed it to. It is a bit under perfection for some thicker stuff but with a bit of beveling it can work!
