Nombre de Dios - A Magic Town in Durango Mexico ( A MUST!)

Join me as we do a day trip to Nombre de Dios! If you are travelling in Mexico and visit Durango Mexico this is one of the best road trips you must do. Nombre de Dios is a Pueblo Magico (small magic town) just outside Durango City in Mexico.
Where to eat in Durango? Where to find Mezcal in Durango? This video will show you as there are 2 things you have to do there: Drink Mezcal, and eat Gorditas.
On the way we stop at El Saltito Waterfall. It's a short hike to go down and see it up close. There's a beautiful mythical like forest. If you visit the falls during the rainy season it can really be spectacular. Then we stop at a small artesnal producer of Mezcal. They make mezcal from 3 different varieties of agave. We walked through the production process on how to make mezcal where the piñas (agave) are cooked (mezcal vs tequila: piñas are not cooked to make tequila). Then we did a mezcal tasting in Jose's home. They also make membrillo. Then we go to a bakery/panaderia where the bread is made in a wood-burning oven. They also make bean filled gorditas and we eat ones that came fresh out of the oven.
Then our final stop is the Nombre de Dios town itself and you have to eat at Gorditas Aleja.
All the gorditas there are delicious.
