After watching Tokyo Off Road pump 600psi of hydraulic pressure using the Hydra Force unit I figured 60-100 psi of air pressure was not going to be that sketchy either.
Good video. Agree,Wire or no wire it’s always important when you’re showing people something to do it the safe proper way. That way you prevent someone at home that’s doing it for the first time from seriously injuring themselves or damaging there own bike off your own content. Thanks Keep them coming.
I’ve been doing the same thing using rubber expansion plugs and put a air chuck fitting on one end and use my leak down tester so I can regulate air pressure and then just use the torch, it works good for automotive headers also
So satisfying to watch those dents come out. But I also like mowing the lawn and pressure washing the driveway. Must be the gratifying results from the effort or something?
Thanks for showing the process again. I'm sure I'll have to do mine soon. Though, I do seem to be crashing less...hmmm. I think maybe I should be worried!
Personally I torch and burn the entire outside to remove any oil inside the pipe before removing dents. I think if you do that first it prevents pressure from rising spontaneously due to gasses being reduced in building up. I think it’s also safer
Your method works. I have used it in the past. However, I much prefer using the hydraforce method. To each his own. I fix many pipes each year. I have to MIG weld cracks in many of them, as well as welding on their brackets. Just part of living with a 2-stroke if you ride in rocky terrain. 😉
Keep in mind, the internal air pressure will increase as you heat the pipe. So don't go crazy on the initial room-temp fill as you might pop the clamps when the pipe gets hot. Morgan's recommended 100psi would be the max I'd go if you had a bunch of dents pop at once. That or let the pipe cool between dents.
I've fixed several pipes myself and I found if you use some cutting compound and a car buffer you can buff out the heat marks and you cant even tell it's been repaired.
I was blowing dents out every couple months. Then I mounted a huge ginormous shovel type guard, think it looks good and much easier to true up than the pipe. I don't think its strong enough to tweak the frame IMO.
One of many things I don't care for on the Beta is the old style pipe bolt system - the bolt that was missing you showed is like the old KTM style. KTM has a much better pipe connection system on their 2020 and newer bikes... I also agree with you, those pipe guards are so ugly! Great video Morgan.
The old KTM-style pipe mounts are MUCH more tolerant of the small pipe misalignment that always happens when removing dents in this manner. Those new KTM mounts are VERY picky with even minor pipe bends !
Buying same bike coming from KTM. Great content on vids, thanks. Are there any exhaust flange guards for the beta available. If so, do they help if you want to run a pipe guard?
hi great tutorial ,one question you started with 100 p.s.i as you heat the pipe to remove the dents will the air pressure increase? and iif it does should we adjust the air back down to 100 or is it within its tolerance ? sorry for the silly question
With the nickel coating on the PC P2 does excessive heat wear the coating, or does the oxidation buff off? I'd like to do mine but there are a lot of little small dents and may take a good amount of heating.
That's here's say bowl shit I broke a Boulder in half and not one time has been damaged and I have endowed over the bars and bike and pipe stayed in perfect condition
Finally, someone on youtube with the balls to run 100 psi in the pipe with no worries of catastrophic failure.

Appreciate this one! did this recently to my dented gnarly and it worked perfectly. thanks!
Those shop towels being backwards is tripping my OCD! 😂

Thanks n
Those kits are worth every penny. Used mine multiple times on two different bikes.
I used a shark bite pipe cap on the silencer side. I just did this for the first time last night. Way easier than I thought.
Applying heat to a sharkbite-type fitting of any sort can soften the plastic in the fitting and cause it to fail. Ask me how I know.

Wasn’t that Beta brand new like two weeks ago? Must be hitting some gnarly stuff.
Yep
@@highlandcycleshell yeah dude!!! Get after it!
Good video Morgan I actually have to blow out the pipe on my 250.
My did exactly what yours did.
Bent back to the frame.

I use rubber freeze plugs, fill the pipe with water then freeze it checking on it. Could use freeze plugs for this method also
I use this same type of dent remover I was thinking of getting a water pressure kit as well.
It works for big dents and straightening the neck if you bent it but I basically don't use mine anymore.

It definitely does. But I have checked before and the most I have ever seen it raise is 10-15psi
So satisfying to watch ..... 🤣
Nice job and you love doing them pipes 👍
Yes I do!
Try the p tech full guards!

Wire wheel on a grinder works well too
Royal jelly removes the discoloration in raw steel created by intense heat . Just be careful if you want to keep that bluing around the welds.

Same bolt falls out on my 300rx too. Thread locker keeps her in

most terrifying thing to do ever haha

I’m not sure if there are any for the beta but they do help
How would you polish them back up to help with looks?
I’m not sure. I know guys do it but I never do.
@@highlandcycles I’ve seen guys use a wire wheel and scotch brite pads with a spray of WD
Could we get a link to the pipe clamp doohickey you’re using?
Mino racing products
They still make that same brand I just ordered one 2 weeks ago
Awesome

Not silly. Yes it will increase. But not as much as you might think. And no need to adjust. The way I do it, it never climbs too much.

It changes the color but I don’t care about that really.
Not on topic really but who did u use for the number plate graphics?
thedesignlabco.com
get the bike running and hot then torch it when its on the bike, bit of back pressure, should push it out :DD:
Love it
What air chuck are you using?
It is from Matco
@@highlandcycles Been looking for a reasonably priced one for the house.
@@Danman1972 not sure what this one cost but it wasn’t terrible
That silencer bolt...it's a Beta thing !
Must be
U put a p tech guard on an then that shit is over but to each there own.
That's here's say bowl shit I broke a Boulder in half and not one time has been damaged and I have endowed over the bars and bike and pipe stayed in perfect condition
I have had different luck.
