The bottom line is that girls/ women from poor backgrounds (myself included) have choices to make. I chose working three jobs-waitressing, teaching at a kids camp, and retail. I studied a year abroad when I was a teenager. 20 years ago, it was not a big deal for teenagers to travel alone. I flew from Miami to several South American capitals with no one checking on me. When you are over 16, it was not a big deal for passport control. With Epstein, his private plane meant that the immigration and customs officers came on to his plane. In the old days, VIPs at the Mandarin Oriental in Hong Kong flew on a copter from the airport and did their immigration and customs checks on the roof of the hotel. We forget that this was a bygone era.
