Thank you for doing what you do, I think you are brilliant and you have a singular style of presentation and perspective that makes you unique amongst all others in fragrance, keep it the good work!
haltane is awesome, bought it a few weeks ago and have been wearing it most days, got a couple of compliments as well from friends and strangers. definitely one of my most favourite from the pdm house
@@DeltaScalper have both and actually sold a bottle of Layton off and got a 75ml of layton exclusif as it's a bit less of that menthol note i didn't like in the o.g Layton. Haltane is more my bag as it one i reach for a lot more in the colder months, it's definitely a lot more wearable than the Layton exclusif and gets tons more compliments as well (i guess women like sweeter gourmand fragrances than ones that smell a bit animalic lol) so overall i really like Layton exclusif but but struggle to find an occasion to wear it and i love Haltane, it's a fragrance i will have for life (providing they don't discontinue it)
@@g.d2450 I got bunch of samples from micro perfumes , really liked Layton exclusif and lelabo santal 33. Got a full bottle of santal 33 , next step is , is it going to be Layton exclusif , Haltane or initio side effect … had a sample of calise as well , so many people love it but I can’t stand it for some reason.
It’s very simple. Both have been bought by an American investor. Within weeks of purchasing they reformulated many scents to make more money, even though the reason they bought was because they were already doing well. In America we set out to conquer and colonize all things, including fragrances, it seems. Then we put profit above all other factors. This how we destroy everything we touch. A shame really.
Doubt it. They explicitly said, that they won't change or touch anything. They see it as an investment and leave the brand to itself. I also can't find anything about them reformulating anything.
Haltane is a absolute Masterpiece, and my favorite Oud fragrance currently. Women prefer it over OFG as well, since it's sweeter and more mass pleasing, and also more wearable outside of Winter, furthermore it's a tad less heavy on the Oud and better balanced.
I preferred haltane overall because of how much it changes and the naturals and even the more pronounced oud smell. But I also really do like the oud for greatness profile I think it's quite nice. I just found haltane to be eloquent like you said and just more interesting overall.
Oud for greatness is underwhelming if you are hoping for oud 😂 I blind buy and was disappointed how fast the ouf disappear. I smell lot much safran. I cannot really smell it and it doesn’t perform that well. So imo it’s completely over hyped. Favorite oud in my collection are Ombre Nomade & Oud maracujà. Unbelievable performance & sillage and last for hours and hours and hours! Performances & dna of OFG are not even close. But everything is subjective in perfumery…
I think they smell the exact same! Love them both but can’t really tell a difference…you know what… I just sprayed them again and I completely changed my mind! You are correct when you said the Oud for Greatness has a heavier Oud presence and the Haltane has a more citrus opening. I honestly can’t chose one over the other, I guess it depends on the day and today I prefer the Haltane.
I am tried them side by side and I found Oud for Greatness to be sweeter and Haltane to be spicier. Oud for Greatness has the saffron which the Haltane lacks. Haltane has the citrus and the woods which make it project more in the first 10-15 minutes. I like both however I feel I like OfG a tad bit more.
my bottle of OFG is by far the strongest fragrance I own, its so strong I usually end up washing it off in the shower before the fragrance evolves, leaving it feeling linear to me. Its just extremely strong and long lasting. Got my bottle in 2021.
Hell yeah mine is strong as well. Ath makes his shit so strong that is what he is used to. I can't enjoy a fragrance that is so strong feel me. I have no problems with the new batches
I own initio OFG frag when just came out (first pach), it last 10h on cloth, its beautiful frag. I see the OFG as richer composition to tom ford oud wood, love to wear it dress up. I know that they use sintetic molecula for wood notes but it still smsells great.
Thank you very much for all the great content. I’m in the US and haven’t been able to get any ATH fragrances yet but I’m very excited to try them. If anyone knows where I can purchase a “discovery” box of ATH, I would appreciate you letting me know.
Oud for Greatness ... my biggest mystery so far! First time trying from the sample and it was beast! Then I tried from 3 different bottles. Performance wise ... very bad and one of them was 77% formulation. Didn't get performance like first time from any of 3 bottles. Just oily spot on skin and almost no projection. My friend tested the bottles too so I'm not crazy. Same experience!
Tbh I've experienced this with almost all of my fragrances. Fragrances seem beastmode some days and timid on other days. La nuit de l'homme lasted 12 hours on me last week, BDC Parfum and Hacivat died within 3 hours. Wore la nuit again and it lasted about 5, while Havivat lasted a full day. Fragcomm is quick to shout "reformulation", but there are way more factors in play like skin chemistry, temperature, humidity, AND subjective perception
@@DuSeun It's a maceration issue. Everytime I buy a fragrance, I use it once then leave it for 1 month, then use it again. The difference is performance is palpable.
I absolutely love oud for Greatness and haltane. Oud for greatness is strong and still pumping. Pdm has not sold their business yet i hope they don't. Haltane and oud for greatness is still strong no problems my way
tried both at my local retailer. I feel what he's saying with Oud for Greatness. It just didn't quite land for me. Didn't smell bad but certainly underwhelming for the hype it has. Haltane however I think will be the scent I stick with nearly a daily driver. Definitely different and I personally pick up the bergamot a lot it gives it a strong, punchy scent along with the oud but the praline smoothes it and ties it all together in a way that hits every note that my nose was searching for in a cologne.
I have a 2018 OFG and I’ve purchased more than 4 2ml samples of Haltane from an authorized retailer, OFG is so much stronger than Haltane every time. I’ve heard mentions of the PDM alcohol content changing around 2020-2021, are the new OFG just weaker? What’re your thoughts on this? Can the alcohol content increasing a few percentages really change something so much? Unrelated, do you have any US stockists that will be getting your discovery set in? Went to buy it tonight from your site and the description says you don’t ship it internationally. Out of curiosity, why is that?
I did a side by side comparison and they are very similar and this is what I don't understand. Coming from the same house, what is the purpose of creating something that is that similar? I don't get it.... anyway, thank you for the nice review Aaron 🙏
I like Haltane because sometimes Oud is a bit too much for people. Mass appealing frags rarely have oud and it's not wonder why. But Haltane makes it really wearable while preserving the oudy greatness
Dear Mr. Hughes, I really admire the way you explain fragrances. For that reason I need your help. I've been searching for a perfume that has a smooth black liquorice scent with a sweet undertone. I have tried a few with, Star Anise, Licorice, and but not fennel. MAUBOUSSIN POUR LUI was the closest. I thought Mugler would offer some but those aren't quite sweet enough nor have that distinct black liquorice vibe. What would you recommend? Would you need more details?
I’m not buying parfums da marly anymore sadly , I am not paying good money on fragrances that are not performing like they used to , I have tried quite a few ATH fragrances and have not been let down by performance at a fair price so why can’t companies like Marly and Creed do it , greed!
The reason why new bottles aren't as strong at first is because most needs to sit out. Spray it a few times and then let the perfume do its thing. People say its maceration and it's some compounds evaporating or oxidizing. I'm not sure what it is, but I am sure that the juice gets better with time.
It's a maceration issue. Everytime I buy a fragrance, I use it once then leave it for 1 month, then use it again. The difference is performance is palpable
Julien Sprecher which is the owner of pdm, initio he did not sell his businesses he just went in partnership with America avent. So that is the truth. What I have learned Aaron when I first started collecting fragrance some were very strong to me but now I'm used to it so it ain't as strong anymore. Oud for greatness is a strong fragrance
So I guess I just got my answer from the comment/ question I asked in the last video of PDM Haltane. I asked if the comparison video going to be with Initio Oud for Greatness? Lol here’s my answer lol
Broken record time... Ormonde Jayne, Oudh Flor, which is a Harrods exclusive.... Is the king of this scent signature type... Green, natural, oud, vertiver etc. Please Aaron, try to get some.
I’ve had the same experience with Paragon. My sample was godly. I purchased a bottle a few months later and it’s so weak. The scent is the same but the lasting power is terrible compared to my sample.
Nice comparison. OFG and Haltane are both nuclear. Only the anosmic weirdos in the fragrance community would talk about these being watered down. Nonsense.
Great review, but what's up with the background noise? Keep muting because I though there was a police car/ambulance/fire truck/air raid going on in or outside my apartment, lol
Between the two oud for greatness is nicer imo. Haltane has this sort of varnish smell to it that I don’t vibe as well too and oud for greatness smells more of a oud/leather which I prefer.
The Oud for Greatness I smelled is from a recent batch, and while it's an absolutely gorgeous scent, its lasting power and sillage wasn't anything to write home about. I don't think it's worth the price at all. Not even 60% of the price in my opinion. I'd just buy a good clone, honestly.
