You are right about the clearing sample steps. But I think in most cases people don’t need to clear samples unless the song actually sells/streams very well. The likelihood of getting sued on a track that isn’t selling thousands or millions is very low.

For sure. this is normally how people choose to deal with it and that is true for songs that are not doing big numbers. But people should be aware of the risks and very real possibility of the original owner of the sample coming after them if the song makes any money

Yeah but many of our favorite producers and songs were written with samples in them. I’ve wrote all my stuff from scratch but can take a lot longer for some people. I play multiple instruments so it’s some what easier for me but for people who only know how to work a DAW, they may be looking for samples of certain instruments

all ima say is if you can't clear it the last option is this (sample now save and settle later like Moby,Fatboyslim and many other producers once they blew up from tracks that used samples in then gave them the money from the selected tracks as they saved it and cut a future deal going on basically showing good intention of paying the orignal artist something and not pure comerical gain unlike Juice WRLD who just spent the money then got sued for the total profits and future cut at 100% loss)

to avoid all, i’d say to just get creative w sampling & try to mask it (sample used) as much as you can lol. many different approaches to this.
tbh tho, if you try to sample anyway without taking proper measures, people really only get in trouble if:
    1. the song blows up
    2. it’s super obvious what the sample is.
madlib is a prime examples of the consequences associated with the minimalist approach to sampling lol.
