I don't really wanna go too heavy on Zadorov. 5x5 absolute max. Would love Guentzel but looks like too many people fighting for him that the price and term will be insane. If we build out more legit guys through the roster im okay with that, but they need to be minimum mid-top end.
Are you sure about that? After taxes, then after his agent & manager cuts, he might be able to afford a house after year 3 of his contract. Unrenovated sheds from the 1930s sell for almost $2M in Vancouver these days. Anything livable is just astronomically priced and property taxes have quintupled in the last 10 years.
Glue guys like Dak and Tyler were signed, seeing how Tanev, Markstrom left unsigned... a few years bacj changed the team's chemistry completely. The painful lessons left by the previous No Money & No Time regime were learned well.
My pick for Petterson's wingers is Dakota Joshua and Conner Garland. Last season they more then proved they deserve a shot at the top 6, especially with how they performed with Lindholm on basically 2nd line minutes, roles and production, even if they were listed as the "3rd line". Pettersson's line was mostly on 3 line roles, production and minutes by the middle of the series against Edmonton.
@@thedingbatdingers4326 They played a lot like top 6 wingers in the playoffs, and for most of the regular season. I'd say they've earned a shot, and if they're not there, then a mid season trade can always bring in a top 6 forward or 2, and they can move back to the 3rd line with Blueger. And they'll sure as HELL be a HELL of a lot BETTER then Mikheyev and Lafferty ever were for a top 6 line.
The dominos fell today. Anyone who wanted to stay was given the price. They either said yes or no. Big Z will not be be with this team next year. You cant pay full dollar for every player. They will sign value players to fill holes and hopefully make a splash with a player like Guentzel because a player like him can not be filled by value players.
I have no clue what theyre gonna do but with these two contract extensions it makes me think they have something cooking. Heard some chatter about DeSmith as well. I like Silovs (and personally think hes better than DeSmith) but like you said its never good to rush a players development in the minors. Just because Silovs CAN be the backup this year, at least we know they are thinking about whether or not he is READY to be a fulltime NHL player. I trust this new management squad and I know they have their shit together by the looks of these 2 contracts. LETS GO NUCKS.
We have 14.5mill cap space. We could sign guentzel for 8.5-9mill and tanev for 4-4.5mill. Tanev wants to be a canuck too. Only issue is that we probably have to resign both silovs and desmith
Maybe so. But since Bettman took over it's been "Canadian teams need not apply" when it comes to the Cup. After 30+ years, I don't think the pattern is about to change.
Zadorov should have been taken care of BEFORE Myers. Personally, I think Myers should have been cut loose. He’s the only one on the team that is consistently making me facepalm. But, if we are keeping him it should have been taken care of AFTER signing Zadorov. I also think Lekeriamaki (spelling?) will get some time in the show this year to test his readiness. He should get 3-5 games in a row to see how he fares and then we can go from there.
I disagree. Myers has good value when his minutes are managed. Zadorov didnt play well in the regular season, he only stepped up int he Playoffs, which was nice dont get me wrong, but Zadorov has defensive holes in his game. He loses his man a lot and draws himself out of position in the slot. Big hits are awesome, but it only takes 2 bad or missed checks to blow a series.
Yzerman paid $5.6mil/season for Andrew Copp, so if he paid $4mil/season for DJ it's probably not a bluff... If Canucks get Guentzel, they would just use the rest of their cap space for Dillon plus some bargain bin reclamation projects. Maybe sign Justin Schultz for $1-2mil/season?
We need to sign Guantzel to make it a successful offseason, otherwise it's basically the same team as last year and at best we would be third in the west (behind Edmonton and Dallas).😢
Resigning Myers feels a bit like resigning Ericksson. Would have expected a more generous hometown discount and kept him on a 1 year contract. There was no way he was going anywhere and not the end of the world if he did.
Dak is awesome at a hometown discount. Would have rather seen the Hronek 8M go to 2nd line wingers. Hog-Petey- and a 3-4M winger is not gonna cut it for a second line.
i think canucks are priced out of signing guentzel, wouldn't leave enough room. Would rather see them lock up Z and Tanev and go after a mid 6 scoring winger. Big thanks to Benning and his eternal legacy
okay where all all the media guys that said he was gone? I dont see them stepping up to say t hey were wrong. They were absolutely wrong. Now they are all stumbling around saying they never said it. Yes they did say it and now they are taking even worse guesses Basically they are overzealous fans not professionals at all
In PA and Rutherford we trust what was it 8 Years of Benning and he couldn't build a team and always overpaid in Free Agency. Now we have PA and Rutherford who seemingly seem to get the players that the team needs at discounts.
The only force the Canucks will be next season is them not making the playoffs with stupid moves they make like signing Debrusk to 7 years he not that good people he vanishes at the worst times too.
so we have the same players back. Thats not going to cut it. We need new younger players and add a few veterans if its the same team we might as well except the fact next years a write off.
Healthy Petey and Demko would of probably got Canucks further in the playoffs. So last season was write off? 1st in the Pacific. 2nd round in the playoffs is a write off? LMAO.
What route should the Canucks pursue? Guentzel? Or round out the roster?

At the right price/term.

As a diehard fan: I am very suprised about these signings, I really enjoyed Zadorov and would love it if he resigns
Hughes-Hronek
Soucy-Tanev
Zadorov-Myers
There is no way that defence does not lead them to a cup.
@@TheBluelineHockey That D core is kinda delusional. 4.5-5 mil + 3 mil for the bottom pair lol
It would be an interesting strategy. Load up on D and muck it up in the playoffs on the way to a cup lol.

An easy force cause the pacific division has the Oilers, so reg season points don’t really matter if you play that team in the play offs :3
Zadorov will resign. He wants to be here and they gave up a lot to get him.
