It's true the Marines won officially, as they killed Ace which was their objective, and Whitebeard died, but I always thought Blackbeard was the real winner of Marineford. He had this planned from the beginning, he became a warlord and played the Marines as pawns, and he got what he was after.

I think the most likely alternate scenario is Whitebeard dies no matter what, but Ace makes it out alive. The main reason the old man took all the damage was that he was covering his crew's retreat. That's what really shakes things up.
I read a fanfiction where Sabo remembers Ace earlier and is there. Sabo realizes what's going to happen and pushes an unconscious luffy into ace's arms. So when the taunts happen he wants to go back but looks at Luffy's face and actually prioritizes his family and friends who risked their lives for him.
I still think Ace still dies, Akainu would just use speed or magma abilities to get to him. Luffy is still nearly out of gas, so eventually he’ll urn out of energy. This gives Akainu time to creep up
I can't believe it wasn't mentioned! - If Whitebeard didn't have everyone's attention while he was dying, he wouldn't be able to reafirm that the One Piece is real and enthuse people to keep looking for it. Angelo Giurato I don’t think Garp would have become a pirate if he defected unless he joined Luffy’s crew to keep an eye on his grandson and to help him get stronger . Most likely I think he would have either quit the marines entirely or joined the revolutionaries.
Funny enough, in one of the pilots for One Piece, Garp WAS a Pirate, and he was a reason why Luffy became a pirate. Also why during the cover arc involving Coby and Helmeppo, Garp kept his dog hood on all the time, because otherwise people who'd seen the pilot would know Luffy's grandpa was the marine apprenticing Coby and Helmeppo immediately. There were also two classifications of Pirates then too, the Morganeers and the Peace-Mains. Morganeers were your stereotypical "plunder, pillage, rape" kind of pirate, while Peace-Mains were more like Luffy, just guys who wanted to sail the sea and didn't take kindly to the world government telling them what to do and mainly "fed" on the Morganeers. TL;DR Garp was a pirate in the pilot and there were classifications for "Good" Pirates (Peace Mains) and "Bad" Pirates (Morganeers).

I think ace just surviving is considered White beard winning the war. Can you see ace after a two year time skip after White beard death. The reason Luffy wanted to train was because he felt he couldn't protect anyone after Ace died, so if Ace survived he wouldn't feel that way and we don't even know if the time skip would happen

I really disagree about some stuff. If Whitebeard was dying he would make Ace the captain for sure ( he wanted to make him the pirate king). Garp and Sengoku would never leave the Marines after loosing the war. The Age of Pirates would become twice as insane and the World Government would need EVERYONE in order to not completely fall.

I honestly believe that they would still do the two year training, because when Luffy first spoke to Whitebeard he challenged him for the title of king of the pirates, so witnessing Whitebeard's power full hand would drive him to train to reach Whitebeard's level

What made the Strawhats begin their training was Luffy's message with the 3D-2Y on his arm. Before that, all of them were trying to get asap to Sabaondy to be with Luffy whom had lost his brother, so they knew about Marinefords outcome and still didn't thought of training until the captain sent the word
The Strawhat Pirates would have still have gotten the message to train for the Post-Timeskip Era by either Rayleigh, Fire Fist Ace, or Boa Hancock because considering that the Marines built a new MarineFord in the New World then that would mean that Luffy would still show up the old MarineFord, and he’d give the Strawhat Pirates to meet up in two years.

@@BlackangelKatakuri , the only reason on why Luffy knew Law being the Surgeon of Death, and him having the Op Op Devil Fruit is because of Fire Fist Ace’s death in the Paramount War, but if White Beard both lived after the Paramount War, and the White Beard Pirates are still together in the Post-Timeskip Era then that would mean that Luffy would have never met Law on Punk Hazard, and he would have went to the purple lightning country with Smoker instead of fighting with Law in Punk Hazard.

From Sabaody to the timeskip is by far my favorite part of the show(I get that they're technically different arcs, but each one leads into the other). Although I haven't finished dressrosa, so maybe that'll end up being better.
Sabo would most likely gain resentment for Blackbeard if he remember about ace and luffy, since he only remember his memory reading the news of his death and luffy survival, then in turn if that were to happen that means the government decided not to make to much report on it, probably be vague and not a picture of luffy or ace on the front cover but probably just a honorable mention.
Than the 2 year time skip would not have happen and Luffy would not be as strong as he is now. Therefore he would be dead once he goes to the New World. Or Luffy would be alive but Luffy's New World adventure would be nothing like it is currently. Dressrosa could still be ruled by Doffy.

Mily Wolfheart other underrated fruits are mr 3's wax wax fruit and buggy's fruit because buggy's fruit allows to be immune to slicing attacks because he could just split his body.If Buggy learned Armament Haki and learned sword techniques like zoro he would be a strong opponent to go against.
It's interesting to think of what would happen if this didn't force them to become stronger, but here's the flip side.... Say Whitebeard wins. Suddenly, Luffy's like "So this is the guy I eventually have to beat? Don't worry, Ace, I can grow strong enough to beat you!" and then that inspires Luffy to reach for even greater heights while the rest of his crew are kind-of left behind a bit. Which then means that Luffy has to work EXTRA hard to grow even stronger to save everyone in the new world, too!
What If instead of showing up at Marineford himself, Whitebeard let his crew and allies gather for the attack, and the marines gather for the defense, but when the actual time came he wasn't there. Marineford HQ gets a call, turns out Whitebeard and a few of his most trusted sons are over by Sabaody parked near the edge of the red line. Whitebeard gives Sengoku an ultimatum, release Ace or he uses his super hyped up "world destroyer" "most powerful paramecia" devil fruit to shake, rattle, and roll until the red line has a big old crack in it and Mary Geoise gets dropped into the sea.
@@titekubo1997 and Katakuri Fan, if Jewelry Bonney didn’t stop Zoro from killing the Celestial Dragons then Akainu would have shown up much sooner in the story, and all of the Pirates including the Strawhat Pirates would be completely dead, so yes it was a good thing that Luffy only punched a Celestial Dragon instead of killing one like Zoro wanted to do.
When I found out that Ace died--not from watching the show, because I was not caught up but from a random music video I clicked on--I was like Luffy (okay that was an exaggeration). I curled in a ball and was crying for like an hour. I have never gotten genuinely emotionally distraught before over the death of a fictional character... and I am a Harry Potter fan! Still, as they say, "from the ashes of defeat grow the roses of success" (Chitty-Chitty Bang-Bang). the thing i like about this is we couldve gotten to see monster trio vs magellan or all the straw hats meeting bon clay again, because no matter what luffy would always have to bust into impel down with a strong or influencial ally. this means boa hancock wouldnt be there but another important person will be there with the straw hats.

How about a miniseries on major "What If?" videos on major turning points in the Straw Hat crews individual lives. This video basically answers "What if Luffy didn't lost Ace?". Then you could do, just for some basic ideas.... 1. What if Kuina didn't die? I know there is plenty of theory that she is still alive and if so then "What if Kuina didn't fake her death?". What effect would that have on Zoro? 2. What if the Arlong Pirates never came to Nami's home village? 3. Kaya's parents were still alive? 4. What if Sanji's family actually loved and cared about him? 5. What if Chopper had not accidentally poisoned Hiliuk? 6. What if Robin's home island had been Buster Called? 7. What if Tom had not been imprisoned (possibly executed)? 8. What if Brook died at some other point in history?

Changes to the story if ace didn't die: --Sabo would not meet luffy in dressrosa. Sabo only remembered that ace and luffy are his brothers because ace died. so i don't also think that sabo would save them at marineford. --the dressrosa arc would be much shorter Because luffy spended most of the time on the battle colosseum to win the mera mera no mi that ace had when he was alive.

I just came from the One Piece Virgin Podcast of Impel Down and I came to a What If Question. What If Luffy and Ace switch places for execution at Marineford. I see two main paths for this What If, Luffy is catched by Blackbeard at Jaya, or after Thriller Bark. If it is at Jaya then the Straw hats don't know about the vivre card, no Franky/Water 7 Saga and no Brook/ Thriller Bark Arc, Skypiea is destroyed by Enel, Montblonk's clam about the Gold city of Shandia is never Redeemed, Robin never reads Roger's note on the bell, and Luffy does not know that Dragon is his Dad. This means that When Luffy is taken to Impel down he will not get help from Ivankov by saying Dragon is daddy, Jinbei never goes to Impel Down, plus Croc, Mr.3, Buggy, Bon Clay, and Ivankov stay trapped in Impel Down. Blackbeard's events in Impel Down likely playout as in the plot but without Luffy attacking him. Ace may learn form the newspaper that Luffy is captued, Dragon and Shanks would both learn about Luffy's capture. Likely Dragon will go to rescue Luffy, while Shanks is maybe (I think yes, but I don't know alot about him if he would/would not), and If Ace learns of Luffy's execution Ace will ether go alone or ask Whitebeard for aid. If Ace asks Whitebeard its likely he will help Ace save Luffy, as Ace is his (adopted) son and Luffy is Ace's (adopted) brother, so Luffy is in a way Whitebread's son too, and Whitebeard is all about family. This will be the Navy Solders of Marneford, the three Admerials, Garp and the Seven warlords vs Whitebeard (+ the Whitebeard Pirates), Shanks (+ the Red hair Pirates), and Dragon (+ (maybe) the revolutionaries). If it is after Thriller Bark the when Luffy is captured IDK, but the events are as follows. Nami uses the vivre card in Luffy's straw hat to find Ace, Ace goes with the Straw hats or they all go get Whitebeard. If Ace asks Whitebeard its likely he will help Ace save Luffy, as Ace is his (adopted) son and Luffy is Ace's (adopted) brother, so Luffy is in a way Whitebread's son too, and Whitebeard is all about family. Dragon and Shanks would both learn about Luffy's capture, and Dragon will go to rescue Luffy, while Shanks is maybe (I think yes, but I don't know alot about him if he would/would not). Ivankov may learn about Luffy being Dragon's son and attempt to escape after Luffy is already being taken to the execution, Buggy, Mr.3, and Croc are staying in Impel down but Jinbei never goes there and Bon is likely rescued by Ivankov on their way out. Blackbeard's events in Impel Down likely playout as in the plot but without Luffy attacking him. Impel Down likely is a failed escape without Jinbei, and Marineford is Whitebeard Pirates, Red Hair Pirates, Dragon (+ (maybe) the revolutionaries), maybe the Impel down prisoners, and the Straw Hat Pirates. I would love to see a video about this What If or even just discuss/debate it here in the comments with everyone. I bet I missed some details that change events even more or cancel others. (Like Hachi and Camie in Sabaody).
They'll be a throwdown at the pirate summit( whatever that is. Ace mentioned it wayyyy back, and oda never brings it up again) Itll be whitebeard and shanks' crew vs kaido and big moms squad. Whitebeard dies and blackbeard sneaks in and gets the gura gura no mi. Maybe all the strawhats meet up at dabaody and rayleigh trains them all???
There's also a potential that the 2 year training happens, but rather than for the reasons of helping luffy through his pain, it's because the straw hats were inspired by the power of the whitebeard crew. Whitebeard, Ace, and possibly even shanks telling luffy he and his crew have to do this before entering the new world, possibly the whitebeards welcoming the straw hats into the new world and training them before going into the dressrosa arc. Essentially similar results with more positive motivations. Another theory is that because of how close the battle is, and because luffy was basically useless when going up against the more powerful marines, this could frustrate luffy that he himself couldnt save ace into once again doing the 2 year training.
there is something else that could happen... people assume luffy would get his ass kicked in the new world HOWEVER.... he was FAR stronger than he needed to be for anything before Doffy (after time skip)... so maybe with a smaller timeskip/ training they would survive but struggle... that would mean that they would evolve and go tru arcs more like Luffy vs Katakuri happened...in a "evolve by necessity" sort of way.
I'm pretty sure the straw hats would still train there asses off because of Sabaody. They got their asses handed to them, I'm pretty sure even after winning luffy would still admit he's to weak to protect his crew and still train for 2 years. Hell luffy maybe dumb but he does know when to make decisions as captain.

The populace would have lost faith in the navy, and it would be the perfect time for the Revolutionary Army to strike at the Celestials .With a victory, the new battle for suremacy would have pitted the RA against the Yonku if the Yonku tried to expand their territories outside of the New World. Luffy and the Straw Hats would have delayed their quest to help the Dragon bring some liberty to the oppressed
In this alternate timeline, I think Usopp might have died on the Bowin islands. He really let himself go after chowing down on the food. It took the shock of Ace's death to shake him out of his apathy and gluttony.

I read a fanfiction where Sabo remembers Ace earlier and is there. Sabo realizes what's going to happen and pushes an unconscious luffy into ace's arms. So when the taunts happen he wants to go back but looks at Luffy's face and actually prioritizes his family and friends who risked their lives for him.

I can't believe it wasn't mentioned! - If Whitebeard didn't have everyone's attention while he was dying, he wouldn't be able to reafirm that the One Piece is real and enthuse people to keep looking for it. If Whitebeard wasn't able to say that and have his words be heard, it would have effected many pirate's future actions.

Angelo Giurato I don’t think Garp would have become a pirate if he defected unless he joined Luffy’s crew to keep an eye on his grandson and to help him get stronger . Most likely I think he would have either quit the marines entirely or joined the revolutionaries.
Funny enough, in one of the pilots for One Piece, Garp WAS a Pirate, and he was a reason why Luffy became a pirate. Also why during the cover arc involving Coby and Helmeppo, Garp kept his dog hood on all the time, because otherwise people who'd seen the pilot would know Luffy's grandpa was the marine apprenticing Coby and Helmeppo immediately.
There were also two classifications of Pirates then too, the Morganeers and the Peace-Mains. Morganeers were your stereotypical "plunder, pillage, rape" kind of pirate, while Peace-Mains were more like Luffy, just guys who wanted to sail the sea and didn't take kindly to the world government telling them what to do and mainly "fed" on the Morganeers.
TL;DR Garp was a pirate in the pilot and there were classifications for "Good" Pirates (Peace Mains) and "Bad" Pirates (Morganeers).

I really disagree about some stuff. If Whitebeard was dying he would make Ace the captain for sure ( he wanted to make him the pirate king). Garp and Sengoku would never leave the Marines after loosing the war. The Age of Pirates would become twice as insane and the World Government would need EVERYONE in order to not completely fall.

What made the Strawhats begin their training was Luffy's message with the 3D-2Y on his arm. Before that, all of them were trying to get asap to Sabaondy to be with Luffy whom had lost his brother, so they knew about Marinefords outcome and still didn't thought of training until the captain sent the word
The Strawhat Pirates would have still have gotten the message to train for the Post-Timeskip Era by either Rayleigh, Fire Fist Ace, or Boa Hancock because considering that the Marines built a new MarineFord in the New World then that would mean that Luffy would still show up the old MarineFord, and he’d give the Strawhat Pirates to meet up in two years.

@@BlackangelKatakuri , the only reason on why Luffy knew Law being the Surgeon of Death, and him having the Op Op Devil Fruit is because of Fire Fist Ace’s death in the Paramount War, but if White Beard both lived after the Paramount War, and the White Beard Pirates are still together in the Post-Timeskip Era then that would mean that Luffy would have never met Law on Punk Hazard, and he would have went to the purple lightning country with Smoker instead of fighting with Law in Punk Hazard.

From Sabaody to the timeskip is by far my favorite part of the show(I get that they're technically different arcs, but each one leads into the other). Although I haven't finished dressrosa, so maybe that'll end up being better.

Sabo would most likely gain resentment for Blackbeard if he remember about ace and luffy, since he only remember his memory reading the news of his death and luffy survival, then in turn if that were to happen that means the government decided not to make to much report on it, probably be vague and not a picture of luffy or ace on the front cover but probably just a honorable mention.
Than the 2 year time skip would not have happen and Luffy would not be as strong as he is now. Therefore he would be dead once he goes to the New World. Or Luffy would be alive but Luffy's New World adventure would be nothing like it is currently. Dressrosa could still be ruled by Doffy.

It's interesting to think of what would happen if this didn't force them to become stronger, but here's the flip side.... Say Whitebeard wins. Suddenly, Luffy's like "So this is the guy I eventually have to beat? Don't worry, Ace, I can grow strong enough to beat you!" and then that inspires Luffy to reach for even greater heights while the rest of his crew are kind-of left behind a bit. Which then means that Luffy has to work EXTRA hard to grow even stronger to save everyone in the new world, too!

Marineford HQ gets a call, turns out Whitebeard and a few of his most trusted sons are over by Sabaody parked near the edge of the red line.
Whitebeard gives Sengoku an ultimatum, release Ace or he uses his super hyped up "world destroyer" "most powerful paramecia" devil fruit to shake, rattle, and roll until the red line has a big old crack in it and Mary Geoise gets dropped into the sea.

When I found out that Ace died--not from watching the show, because I was not caught up but from a random music video I clicked on--I was like Luffy (okay that was an exaggeration). I curled in a ball and was crying for like an hour. I have never gotten genuinely emotionally distraught before over the death of a fictional character... and I am a Harry Potter fan! Still, as they say, "from the ashes of defeat grow the roses of success" (Chitty-Chitty Bang-Bang). I can not see the Strawhats becoming as good of fighters as they are now if it wasn't for the losses at Marineford. Thank you for this video,

This video basically answers "What if Luffy didn't lost Ace?". Then you could do, just for some basic ideas....
1. What if Kuina didn't die? I know there is plenty of theory that she is still alive and if so then "What if Kuina didn't fake her death?". What effect would that have on Zoro?
2. What if the Arlong Pirates never came to Nami's home village?
3. Kaya's parents were still alive?
4. What if Sanji's family actually loved and cared about him?
5. What if Chopper had not accidentally poisoned Hiliuk?
6. What if Robin's home island had been Buster Called?

--Sabo would not meet luffy in dressrosa. Sabo only remembered that ace and luffy are his brothers because ace died. so i don't also think that sabo would save them at marineford.

I just came from the One Piece Virgin Podcast of Impel Down and I came to a What If Question. What If Luffy and Ace switch places for execution at Marineford.
I see two main paths for this What If, Luffy is catched by Blackbeard at Jaya, or after Thriller Bark.
If it is at Jaya then the Straw hats don't know about the vivre card, no Franky/Water 7 Saga and no Brook/ Thriller Bark Arc, Skypiea is destroyed by Enel, Montblonk's clam about the Gold city of Shandia is never Redeemed, Robin never reads Roger's note on the bell, and Luffy does not know that Dragon is his Dad. This means that When Luffy is taken to Impel down he will not get help from Ivankov by saying Dragon is daddy, Jinbei never goes to Impel Down, plus Croc, Mr.3, Buggy, Bon Clay, and Ivankov stay trapped in Impel Down. Blackbeard's events in Impel Down likely playout as in the plot but without Luffy attacking him. Ace may learn form the newspaper that Luffy is captued, Dragon and Shanks would both learn about Luffy's capture. Likely Dragon will go to rescue Luffy, while Shanks is maybe (I think yes, but I don't know alot about him if he would/would not), and If Ace learns of Luffy's execution Ace will ether go alone or ask Whitebeard for aid. If Ace asks Whitebeard its likely he will help Ace save Luffy, as Ace is his (adopted) son and Luffy is Ace's (adopted) brother, so Luffy is in a way Whitebread's son too, and Whitebeard is all about family. This will be the Navy Solders of Marneford, the three Admerials, Garp and the Seven warlords vs Whitebeard (+ the Whitebeard Pirates), Shanks (+ the Red hair Pirates), and Dragon (+ (maybe) the revolutionaries).
If it is after Thriller Bark the when Luffy is captured IDK, but the events are as follows. Nami uses the vivre card in Luffy's straw hat to find Ace, Ace goes with the Straw hats or they all go get Whitebeard. If Ace asks Whitebeard its likely he will help Ace save Luffy, as Ace is his (adopted) son and Luffy is Ace's (adopted) brother, so Luffy is in a way Whitebread's son too, and Whitebeard is all about family. Dragon and Shanks would both learn about Luffy's capture, and Dragon will go to rescue Luffy, while Shanks is maybe (I think yes, but I don't know alot about him if he would/would not). Ivankov may learn about Luffy being Dragon's son and attempt to escape after Luffy is already being taken to the execution, Buggy, Mr.3, and Croc are staying in Impel down but Jinbei never goes there and Bon is likely rescued by Ivankov on their way out. Blackbeard's events in Impel Down likely playout as in the plot but without Luffy attacking him. Impel Down likely is a failed escape without Jinbei, and Marineford is Whitebeard Pirates, Red Hair Pirates, Dragon (+ (maybe) the revolutionaries), maybe the Impel down prisoners, and the Straw Hat Pirates.

There's also a potential that the 2 year training happens, but rather than for the reasons of helping luffy through his pain, it's because the straw hats were inspired by the power of the whitebeard crew.
Whitebeard, Ace, and possibly even shanks telling luffy he and his crew have to do this before entering the new world, possibly the whitebeards welcoming the straw hats into the new world and training them before going into the dressrosa arc.
Essentially similar results with more positive motivations.
Another theory is that because of how close the battle is, and because luffy was basically useless when going up against the more powerful marines, this could frustrate luffy that he himself couldnt save ace into once again doing the 2 year training.

there is something else that could happen... people assume luffy would get his ass kicked in the new world HOWEVER.... he was FAR stronger than he needed to be for anything before Doffy (after time skip)... so maybe with a smaller timeskip/ training they would survive but struggle... that would mean that they would evolve and go tru arcs more like Luffy vs Katakuri happened...in a "evolve by necessity" sort of way.

I'm pretty sure the straw hats would still train there asses off because of Sabaody. They got their asses handed to them, I'm pretty sure even after winning luffy would still admit he's to weak to protect his crew and still train for 2 years. Hell luffy maybe dumb but he does know when to make decisions as captain.

The populace would have lost faith in the navy, and it would be the perfect time for the Revolutionary Army to strike at the Celestials .With a victory, the new battle for suremacy would have pitted the RA against the Yonku if the Yonku tried to expand their territories outside of the New World. Luffy and the Straw Hats would have delayed their quest to help the Dragon bring some liberty to the oppressed

In this alternate timeline, I think Usopp might have died on the Bowin islands. He really let himself go after chowing down on the food. It took the shock of Ace's death to shake him out of his apathy and gluttony.
