    For the especially dense (me), remember to make sure the beater swings back at the end of the downstroke, before the upstroke. Really focus on the feeling of it, and eventually you get a sort of swinging feeling with your feet, where you can progress forward.
    This technique is so cool and unique and actually really fun to mess around with, thank you for this tutorial!

      Hard to keep the strokes even, it switches to a shuffle with a downstroke a lot more powerful than the upstroke, dunno how to fix it

    At nine minutes into the video :
    "Imagine the pedal is your prisoner. You don't want to carry your prisoner all the way, no? You hold him at gunpoint and just give him a little nudge from time to time", with the accent of a voice that sounds like he could be running a prison camp. I don't know why that brought a wide smile on my face but thank you.

    Can anyone explain why they're not more popular? Especially for fellas like myself who play local clubs and bars in a big city, and take the subway to gigs, so we can't carry around a flight case full of electronics? It seems like a no brainer to me.

Take the bonham triplets for example. It’s tough for me to play it slower and also too fast. Basically it’s hard to time the hits when playing heel toe. How can I overcome this?

  • @svenvsb4332
    @svenvsb4332 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Jeez, just saw your video. I was practising heel toe, but it looks like there's a difference... you come down with the toe and push back up with the toe with heel in the middle. I was practising coming down with heel and pushing up with toe. Got me confused now 🤔. Anyway, i'll look in to it i guess 😉. You're sick man! So jealous of your talent. Keep up the good work with the vids!

    Alright Wanja, 2020 has come and gone. I met my goal of holding a 16th note single stroke roll with my double kick at 200 bpm for 2 minutes using ankle technique. Took me 10 months of rehearsing for about an hour, 5 days a week. Along the way I stumbled upon this technique. I put it in my back pocket and decided I would come back to it later after I had met my goals. For 2021 I have decided I want to build upon this technique. I am practicing five days a week. On day 1 I complete eight minutes with my right foot, going from 150-180 ever 2 minutes. Then I do it with my left. This is pretty easy. Just working on getting the note volume even. On day 2 I use the same 150-180 going up every 2 minutes, but with both feet working simultaneously. Even after a couple days it is starting to sound better. Just wondering how long it will take for me too get it up to speed? Looking for over 200bpm. Besides the challenge, I am really wanting to get better at this because it is such an energy saver. I have dedicated myself to 30 days of practicing it. If I’m seeing progress and still motivated to stick with it, I may entertain the idea of taking you up on a 30 day trial of your drum school. Just wanted to give it time and let you work the kinks out before I subscribed. On a completely unrelated note, I have jammed the newest Negator album about 20 times this weekend. Your drumming was incredible! Looking forward to mastering this technique and taking some lessons with you in the future. Cheers!

    • @wanjanechtangroeger
      @wanjanechtangroeger  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That sounds awesome! With this kind of dedication and approach I am sure you will see great results soon! If you want to focus on double bass with heel-toe singles I would recommend to go for my new online course "Double Bass - Maximum Peerformance" instead of the Drum School ;)
