Not bad value, considering it's a licensed theme, and Lego are probably thinking 15 Buck$ for the minifigs alone. It does look like it's floating menacingly. The feet tentacles are so thin compared to its apparent mass, that they look like they're trailing on the ground rather than supporting its weight. Would look good in the NJC Planetary Defense mountain.
So far in the MCU, we've only seen tentacles coming through portals. We haven't seen a full-fledged tentacle monster. I'm guessing this is supposed to be whatever is on the other side of those portals.
Yeah, we saw those in the No Way Home, Guardians II and Doctor Strange sets. Though in movies we did see the Abilisk pink monster guy which is tentacle-ish.
My guess is that it’s Shuma Gorath with a different name due to copyright. However, it is definitely only some sort of avatar or smaller, weaker form due to how powerful Shuma Gorath actually is.
If it was a budget-contraint choice between the pride tile and another new print, I wish they would've reused the DOTS one and made a new sorcerer shield dish instead. The last one we got was in 2016 and not even that great, and we've gotten so many Doctor Strange and Wong figs that just use blank dishes or blast effects. It's time for a proper upgrade
That Gargantos is actually well built and quite playable with, I wouldn’t have thought from the few photos I saw. And that minifig selection is nice. Still not for me but I can see why some could enjoy this set.

They really ought to include that in a DOTS pack... I know Extra DOTS - Series 1 has a rainbow heart but that heart only has five colors, not the pride flag's six, and, well, it's a heart, not a circle, not that a heart is a bad thing it just isn't a circle. I got around the eye-tentacle joint placement by moving the grey plates forwards a step and filling and dressing them with the sand-green and brown spares (plus a couple from my parts collection). It's still a sloppy mistake that they should have caught...
Totally not a Marvel fan. But I might grab this just for the rare color and minifig parts. Trying to get more diverse skin tones and what can pass as Jedi robes in odd colors, the pride pin, and for the novelty of the illegal technique.
If you bring the ball connectors out one stud I assume they will no longer touch the curved edge. Does that make the model look strange? And what happens if you switch the grey ones for an alternative colour?

I did end up buying it bc I need a monster for a MOC, and I think it will look great with some LED light in that eye. I have no interest in the rest of the set.

It's connected to the Conan mythos so using it in movies is probably more potential legal trouble than it's worth. Or they wanted a lesser monster that Strange can deal with, Shuma Gorath is kind of endgame material.

It was originally named Shuma-Gotath and it's first appearance was in an adaptation of Kull the Conqueror published by Marvel comics in 1967. Kull the Conqueror these days is owned by Universal Studios so using that name in a several million dollar blockbuster definitely would've caught the eye (heh) of Universal's legal team

the tentacle monster is super cool too the overall look just comes together so cleanly. not really a fan of doctor strange figures in general but i do like the america chavez figure
I see the progress bar in the instructions and I don't really like that. I thought it would be an exclusive thing to the Sonic set and I feel every set having it makes that incredible Sonic set feel a bit less special.

There was a square rainbow tile with 5 colors but this is the first round rainbow tile and it has the 6 colors of the Pride flag.
The most exciting thing about this set, to me, is all those olive green pieces in one set. Unfortunately not the best price for a parts pack
