It's gonna be a long time before someone gets into the 50/50 club lol. There has only been 6 players who have gotten 40/40 in MLB HISTORY. So it's damn hard to get into that club. Shohei is gonna be the sole member for quite a while.
I think it will take some time, but I think with the direction the game is going in where speed is more emphasized, it can happen sooner than you think. Canseco did 40-40 for the first time in 88, with Bonds and ARod doing it in the 90s, and Soriano doing it in 06.
@@rhyde Yeah the bigger bases and new rules for baserunning helps. But it's about them home runs haha. Hitting a baseball is incredibly difficult, so to pull off 50+ homers is going to be tough.
@@DoGuov As long as you have the power and aren’t as slow as Albert Pujols, there’s a chance. The key to stealing bases isn’t speed, but the timing of the jump. As long as this skill can be mastered, even by a slow player, stealing bases becomes much easier, even for power hitters. The problem then becomes: do you want to risk your number 1 hitter stealing bases and getting injured? I personally would limit the amount of times my players were stealing, especially my stars, as stealing bases lead to injury and are overvalued. Billy Beane and Paul DePodesta, as well as Bill James were all against things like stealing bases and bunting as they are heavily overvalued by coaches. While the bunt isn’t typically used anymore, the stolen base is.
It’ll be incredibly difficult for sure. I think only a few guys I mentioned have an actual shot at it, and are probably still on the outside looking in. Fun to think about though!
The direction the game is going? Where is it going? Are you talking about the rule changes? Then how come other guys are not stealing many bases? 50/50 will be too high to reach for most players for a looong to time.
Power and speed is actually so contradicting. If you hit a home run, obviously, you won't be able to steal. Aside from hitting home runs, you also have to be on base a lot of times. With Shohei, he's fast but not one of the fastest players in MLB, so he studies all the pitchers he's facing together with the first base coach. And I think it also helped that he was a leadoff half of the season and often times, there's no one on base before him. Imagine if he was a leadoff hitter from the very start, he might be at 70 or 80 sb now. I think we won't be seeing a 50/50 season this year if Mookie didn't get injured.
This is, quite literally without a doubt, one of the dumbest lists I’ve ever seen. Bro picked a dodgers prospect to go 50/50, after Ohtani, the only player to ever go 50/50, just accomplished it. Bro’s throwing around ‘he’s more likely to be in the 40/40 club’ do you know how many players are in the 40/40 club? 6 players lmaoooo
Not to mention, choosing minor league players with OPS’ in the 800s, like bro they’re completely unproven. There’s a player on every team, in the majors, with a better chance than any minor league player (maybe not the white Sox)
It’s honestly amazing to me how many sensitive Dodgers fans there are. It’s so tiring at this point. Get over yourself man and go find another channel, or hey maybe start your own and do it better ❤️
I feel like out of everyone outside of Ohtani, J-Rod has the best option out of everyone. It just feels like he's going to have multiple 40-40 seasons in his career. Mariners are so lucky to have him.
@@Heybrotruthhurts I mean like his skillset and physique would technically permit him to be both a big power hitter and a base stealer! Plus, he's still so young that adjustments can be made much easier than if he was, say in his late 20s early 30s
Maybe not in 25 but definitely in 26 Ronald could do it. I don’t think it will be done in 25. I don’t think Ohtani will steal 50 in 25. Not with pitching too. What was his tops in steals with the Angels?
I haven't watched the video yet but I imagine the video is just you scrolling through all the teams and saying no, nobody is ever going to get 50/50 on this team until you get to the royals and point out that Bobby Witt Jr could potentially
@@rhyde I am not sure y that is. He hasn't run much this month. He is 27/29 SB in the bigs this year and one of those caught stealing was a missed squeeze play
Let’s have some fun with this video. Who’s gonna be the next 50-50?
Bobby Witt Junior
no one get this ...

Interesting concept Great video , elly if he develops enough with the bat , acuna if healthy , could Jose or bobby have a miracle season maybe ?
The requirement for the next Ohtani is TWP
Congratulations coming from a Yankee fan

He's got to stop striking out every other at-bat first😁
Bro J-rod has been terrible this season (although he recently started hitting better).
@@BALLCAPSports yeah that would be a good start lmao

I think Bobby Witt Jr could be the next guy if he played in a more hitter friendly park. Most likely a 40/40 potential.
The giants have Bryce Eldridge
I need that man to steal 10 bases in the minors first 😂
Unrelated question I hadn’t heard much about Kristian Campbell , potential is hard to guess but what is his potential ceiling as a player ?
Could’ve said Emil Morales for the Dodgers. He is a future star
O’Neill Cruz too if he hits his hitting potential
The Angels best chance is Christian Moore.
I thought about him, but he didn’t steal many bases in college. Perhaps that could change in MLB
That would be the short number. But Ron Washington might get him running more. The angels are eleventh in stolen bases.

Surprised you didn’t go with Corbin Carroll for AZ.
I just can’t see 50 homers
Mike Trout is the only one on the angels who can touch 50 50. I mean, if he only plays DH. His sprint speed is way faster than Ohtani
With all those leg injuries, there’s just no way at this point
@@rhyde yes, I’m dreaming. Just don’t wanna admit that he’s washed 🥲
Trout had passed his prime. With injuries every year, he is basically enjoying his retirement and collecting his paychecks with the team.

I'll revise this and also throw in Elly De La Cruz now that I think about it
No.
@@rhyde 🤣
Pete Crow Armstrong has far better speed than 30-40 steals. If he gets his obp up a bit he has 80 steal speed.
I was pretty surprised to see the most steals he had in the minors was 37

Once in a lifetime probably several lifetimes.
They said the same thing about Canseco’s 40-40.
