    For several decades, numerous books and explications have been published on the profoundly insightful philosophy and teachings of G.I. Gurdjieff. Some were written by the man himself, and many by those who worked with him. But while Gurdjieff himself included a few of the guided exercises that formed a major part of the actual practice of his ideas in "Life Is Real Only Then When I Am", until recently no other book has focused on these exercises, which are designed to bring those practicing them to a greater state of self-awareness and ‘conscious evolution’.
    Though the exercises have been carried on by some, many have fallen out of practice, been forgotten, altered, or replaced by exercises Gurdjieff never taught. And there has been a reluctance to share with those not directly part of these groups - leaving few, if any, outside of these organizations with the knowledge of their practice. This has now changed. In his new book, "Gurdjieff: Mysticism, Contemplation, & Exercises", Father Joseph Azize has lifted the veil of secrecy surrounding the great mystic’s direct approaches to helping individuals grow, including all the previously published exercises in addition to several previously unpublished and at risk of being forgotten. Azize's book is the first to be devoted exclusively to the exercises and their extensive analysis.
    On this week’s MindMatters, we speak with Father Joseph Azize not only about his own time working with some of Gurdjieff's students, but also about his decision to go forward with his book, and what he feels is the true value of this newly shared information. We also get to discuss what this long-time practitioner thinks are some of the most essential aspects of the human condition - after many years of distilling the information for his own growth and vocation.

      I use Gurdjieff as an introduction to my work, his ideas regarding the psychology of man is truly profound. However, I found Spinoza has a method of awakening the mind from sleep. Learn how: WayofSpinoza.com

    Hi i think i hit the right link today, in preparation for some of the tasks i eventually resolved myself to accomplish. A glance at your whole collection of online videos is giving me the wiplash i needed to wake up on a day my whole body did not want to go through. This 'gurdjievan' interview is awesome. I live in a country (France) very 'scientifically' materialistic, where people are at best skeptical with ethereal dimensions to say the least. And when they are not, they rush into religiously pseudo-mystical nonsense. The subjects your video corpse is dealing with indicate a balanced way to envision totality. I am eager to watch and listen to the 2nd part of this interview, especiallly for the John Benett part, this man being in my opinion the clever student and transmitter for Gurdjieff, way above Ouspenski. Thanks for being here and there in our time.

    Thank you father Joseph Azize for your search and integrity. I have been in a work groups for over 35 years and my life is now my work but I still listen to people like you and use any possible means to remember myself and I'm doing the morning sitting exercises sensing and feeling my body and breathing exercises to keep within myself higher substances . But I'd like to mention one thing that made me smile quite a lot when I saw at the back of one of the interviewers a pork and beef butchery poster. I noticed okay a map of Europe and a butchery poster...I must say that I have been taken aback...couldn't find a link whatsoever.

Ah! just ordered the book from Amazon and not noticing your offering it with 30% discount. It's alright, anyway.

    Hydrogens originated with William Prout's theory that the elements were multiples of the hydrogen atom, before there was an understanding of neutrons in the nucleus.
    The three foods comes from Plato's harmonious beehive, where the top layer relates to intelligence, the middle layer to spirit & the bottom layer to appetite.

    Gurdjeff remains unnecessarily complicated and he still has a big foot in the occult side of things. I Am as a central practice is much clearer in Ramana Maharishi s teachings on self inquiry, which distilled from the complexity of theUpanishads the central understanding and practice to realise the Self

      Very difficult, as there are a lot of fake groups out there acting as Fourth Way teachers, and most of them are just superfans of Gurdjieff....But you could listen to Maurice Nicoll's commentary series (Psychological Commentaries on the teachings of Gurdjieff and Ouspensky) on YT......Listen to it many times and it will have an impression on you..

    • @nodgelyobo1
      @nodgelyobo1 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      A quick note...a lot of the main so-called Gurdjieffians, the ones who wrote the books etc, were not enlightened either. Most of them were posh upper class, public school boys and girls, and G needed money. so they were handy for that...G always said the teachings were the 'way of the sly man'....they were good writers and they had a grasp of the knowledge of the teachings, so they were used for that....Even is main man Ouspensky failed him, and ended up a hedonistic old drunk.....I'll get attacked for this, because a lot of them try and defend this...
