A lot of that is owing to fake news about how nutritional value was labeled. Americans see "fat" and oils and think that will make them fat, while reality it's the carbs and sugar that makes a person fat. Fat is flavor tho and oils are essential. People that live solely on a carnivore or keto diet and eat tons of oils end up being healthy and losing lots of weight. People still have very warped and out dated views on nutrition, and in America there is an obsession with trying to not be fat tho a large majority of people are as they have warped views on nutrition.
