I saw Wish today and really enjoyed it. I had heard of the bad critisim it had gotten, though I haven't read specifically what most of those critics said so I went into the movie with an open mind. And I do agree that some of the lyrics are a bit too corny and cringeworthy, but "This Wish" is a fantastic song (and the reprise gave me goosebumps), and "At All Costs" is really good as well. And the animation is gorgeous so this movie definitely has stuff going for it, although it also has its flaws. But I left the movie theater having had a very positive experience and it's absolutely a movie worth watching if you ask me.
Really awesome to hear that honestly. It's a nice breath of fresh air to hear from people that genuinely enjoyed it! I really want to re-watch it to see if I like it more in a second watch :)
That artwork with Asha and the goat at the tree could have been a perfect scene to let her philosophize about life, wishes and the dad whom is not present.
Yeah, the image of Asha in the tree wishing on the star was beautiful: and I would have liked to know more about her past and about her father, because we only heard about him and saw him once and that's it?
Disney will NOT be dodging the AI songwriting allegations after lines like “I let you live here for free without even charging rent” for their main villains songs 💀

Kinda interesting how 3D Princesses like Rapunzel, Moana, Mirabel and Raya had much more character depth and development than the main Character in Wish. The 4 that I just mention is that they had goals and needs in life and during the entire course of their individual films they had some obstacles, challenges and had incredible tenacity along the way and overall they had a great transformation at the end of their respected films for the better. Asha however we didn't get that much development and in the entire film she wants to get what she wants and then she literally get what she wants during the entire course of her film so we didn't see that much transformation from her. She is basically a one-note and thinly-written character unfortunately. Don't get me wrong the voice actors did a great job on their work for this film but overall the Characters were a bit underdeveloped and its almost like a first draft.
I thought it was fine, but it seemed to have this strange lack of cohesion. Then again, Disney gets parodied a lot for being too perfect, so this could be them course correcting. Though personally, I don't have a problem with cookie-cutter films but I imagine that it's not profitable anymore.

Also my fav songs became: This Wish, I'm a star and the one with the credits. The plot about wishes was interesting, but the one that everyone deserves to have their wishes, the theme was painted very rosy, I thought Asha would be a protagonist who wanted to do something good for everyone, but she made a mistake and was going to fix it, about the villain I don't know what to say: I thought that would be about Asha was wrong and some wishes reaelly were bad and she should not have released them all, Chaos would break out when most wishes were granted (although surely only for evil and greedy desires). But the King was not right either about keeping most of the wishes inside and not granting them, but Asha decides yes repair what she started. And Asha's personality was to make it deeper. I thought that the time that Asha would spend as the King's apprentice would be longer but he barely interviewed her, she only spent one day as an apprentice and then she disagreed with the king's acting, he fired her, I hoped that he would surely share with her too his knowledge of magic and his magical laboratory. And not all comedy moments felt very pleasurable. About the end I'm glad that everyone managed to recover and remember their wishes, keeping them back in their heart, I didn't know what to expect at the end, I felt a thrill when Asha became the first fairy godmother (apart from the others created by Disney). That was my theory and I had high hopes but it wasn't that bad, I won't deny it filled my soul with nostalgia, especially when Sabino, Asha's grandfather, composed "When you wish upon a star" (at the same time that he, with his age, represented the 100 years of the Disney studio)
Asha probably would not have been taught any magic by the king to begin with. I know they keep saying that she was interviewing to be his apprentice but Magnifico does not allow anyone in the land to perform magic other than him so I doubt that she was really going to be a sorcerer's apprentice. It sounds to me that the king's apprentices are merely assistants. Though it would be nice if they could do a sequel where a reformed king Magnifico is somehow restored and does teach Asha how to perform magic.
I gotta disagree with you on the villain song. I didn’t feel like it was A.I. generated. I just assumed that it was because the villain had a big ego complex it kinda worked.
I am not sure why this movie got so many bad reviews. I loved it! My adult daughter loved it. All the kids in the theatre loved it. In fact a child sitting next to me, said, Oh no, it's over already?

What I feel like Disney has lost (as far as story goes) is the “adventure part”... this sounds random but I felt this problem actually started in Brave and continued through Frozen 2. The plot drags because there isn’t that grand (though it doesn’t have to be) adventure where the main character can really fulfill their arc, which unfortunately lacking this element makes it feel shortchanged and not fleshed out/ even hallow honestly, a great example (albeit a bit strange) would be comparing Wish with Stardust (I know that’s random but) both have a Star that comes to life as a main plot line. That great adventure adds so much to the characters development and gets you emotional invested because you directly go on this journey with the characters so you are in a way a part of their story too!

Hello Sir Miguel i'm back. I just watch this movie last night so here's my review. This movie for me is a bit bland and lack of freshness. I have to give props and praise for the Animation and Character Designs because its so stunning and amazing and the Animation very much works with the mixing of 3D and 2D Watercolor style aesthetic. The Character details and designs are also very great. With that being said because despite those positive notes everything else in the movie literally falls short. The main downfall of this movie is basically the plot, characters and the music. I'm okay with references because i like Nostalgia. She's giving me Rapunzel and Elsa vibes unfortunately. The supporting characters and the villain (King Magnifico) are a bit underdeveloped. The music is very mediocre i'm so sorry Disney but the lyrics in particular is very underwhelming. I felt like the songs in the movie have a basically pop workflow whereas songs from past Disney movies have broadway and theatre workflow in them. I do think Julia Michaels is working out of her element in this movie and its very evident from the lyrical contents of the songs. The movie is rough around the edges and i hate to say this but Atlantis: The Lost Empire (Although i dislike the film) is a much better movie than Wish and that's saying something. I hope Disney would do better in the future because they are one of my favourite Animation Studios to this day. I hope you like my review Sir Miguel. ☺️☺️

Thanks a ton! Yeah do let me know what you think, super curious
First of all, you’re welcome! Second, definitely will do!
I love Wish's songs! Escpecially This is the Thanks i Get?!. The song's line are phenomenal and funny to listen. I don't think that was the movie's biggest mistake.
Some of them are really good! I don't know though, I feel like some of the lyrics are quite bad haha
Of course it is much better then everyone except for me think! 😆
100%!
This is the Thanks I get is amazing in all of the worst ways. It’s so funny. It’s corny as hell.
😂😂 true
@@miguelmunuera2601 Disney’s Sonic 06 includes Disney’s Can’t Touch This
Welcome to Rosas is awful in my opinion. I heard it and it’s horrendous
Really?! It's my favorite but I love Latin music, I thought they nailed the rythm and melody
You are a shill! How dare you say anything positive about a Disney product? Just kidding. Keep up the great work!
😂😂 Honestly was really hoping I would like it more 🥲
@@miguelmunuera2601 It's ok to have opinions. I can't stand people who are so one sided that any view that differs from theirs is seen as "wrong".
I couldn't agree more... isn't that the beauty of humanity? That not everyone things the same. That would be boring af
@@miguelmunuera2601 💯
What a dull corporate shill. Wish is another boring, average Disney movie. Obv with so much money put into it - it can't really be bad, but it's still closer to average or below.
hahah yeah that's why I gave it a 6.5 and went hard on the lack-luster story and songs. I was really hoping they would do better for this...unfortunate really
Yeah, I was not a big fan of this movie
I get it honestly haha
Plant alert.
😳
But I prefer movies on dvd
No, it isn't it's much much worse.
Hahaha love how wide the range of opinions is for the movie. What made you think it was that bad?
NO.
Love it
omg u so cute
😳😳
Thanks! Thank you very much, I haven't seen it yet, but I'm dying to see it!!!! finally someone with common sense! I don't care what others say, I understand that it wasn't what people wanted, but people's hate is very exaggerated! They have to see the film Where the Dead Going to Die to understand what a really bad film is 😅
sorry I wanted to vent hahaha
Hahaha loving the vent. I totally agree, but people just love to over-hate things in general it's so annoying. I'd rather look at the positive side 😅
