Ashi Waza - or "Foot Techniques" are fundamental to building a comprehensive JUDO game. The moves are applicable across grappling disciplines and they are very fun to hit during randori. Take these foot sweeps to the next level with this comprehensive instructional! - บันเทิง
I’m just getting into judo and I’m really enjoying the info. As an old guy of 37 😂 just getting into the sport, it can be intimidating. so I just wanted to comment and say, thank you.
Glad you are enjoying it, I am 33yo and also starting judo very recently. It is quite a fun activity and your body really toughens up a lot. I train bjj too so both complement each other quite well.
Mate I started when I was 50. Enjoy the way of live. It is not just a sport.
Me at 43. It's painful. But a good balance/bridge between stand up to full grappling. Enjoyed it more than BJJ.

@@mrdrippymandrippy4415 I am 60 now 😀
I already have two years plus of boxing experience, I'm getting into judo now. I guess I'm officially an MMA practitioner now. That's the beauty, you're not limited to one fighting discipline.
Started kickboxing a year ago, put 7 hours per week into it since and i just started judo last week , twice a week, around 2 hours per class, i love it. Despite having a good amount of sport, starting judo takes your body perception to another level, building different muscles, balance etc.. it's great !
any updates?
Yoo i wanna be like u dude!! This is so cool! I started doing aerobics and taekwondo (i have little experience in boxing but i punch alot) and i think of doing boxing and maybe soon Judo if i finish taekwondo
The problem is i miss classes alot because i get so sick
Absolutely right it actually made my right hook slightly better for 🥊 because of the way you use you hips lol. It sounds like you have a strong base for MMA with those two martial arts
I did judo as a kid until Green belt and i quit, now i wanna begin again i Loved this video
I can’t wait for the Old Man Judo instructional! 🤣
Thanks for coming out here last week Sensei. It was a real honor and pleasure to meet you and train. 🥋👍

He already made like 2 of those
@@EpiphanyMindChange it was a joke - we talked about it last weekend.
Yes, the videos for beginners are awesome! Can you please do one on how older Judokas can prep, gain strength, etc?
I'm also starting at judo, this content really is going to boost up my judo, thanks sensei.
Love this channel. Greetings from Poland!
Thank you, sir - your explanations are a great refresher for me and are helping me fill the gaps and remember details (I've not done any Judo for 8 years, but started BJJ 9 months ago, and will be running some takedown classes). Keep this up, your videos are a great resource for me to learn and also to plan my lessons!
this video was super helpful and instructive please make more😍
Excellent - I will be trying some of your tips with the beginners class tomorrow!
Thank you for all the great information. I'm returning to Judo after years of karate and bjj. Lots of rust, but your videos are very elpful.
Outstanding foundation. Thank You, waiting to get into first class this week.
I generally prefer to teach osotogari third, after morote seionage and ogoshi. The problem with teaching osotogari first, especially if you're teaching TWO or more beginners, is that neither one is skilled at controlling the throw OR falling, and an uncontrolled fall from osotogari can be quite hard and result in uke's head hitting the mat. Better that they gain a little experience throwing and being thrown by a couple of techniques that are easier to control.
Eugene also makes a good point: There's a skill to being a good uke, and far too many people take it for granted and just stand there when tori is practicing uchikomi. A good uke, though, will move or react in the way tori needs him/her to move and react to learn the technique and acquire muscle memory for maximum benefit.
@@TheModernVictorian Absolutely. Beginners may know ukemi from sitting, squatting, standing, and rolling, but are not used to the additional force of being thrown. If you have beginners throwing beginners, you really need to monitor them closely because neither one of them really knows what they're doing in those first couple of throws. A poorly executed osotogari on a novice can more easily result in a concussion than from most turn throws, IMO.

Как же хорошо он обьясняет👍👍👍👍
u make it look easy
Best Judo channel. Thanks guys!
Thank you
thank you
Very nice
I do Okinwan karate and boxing and Japanese jiujitsu I wanted to learn judo because judo is actually pretty fun and it has similar throws as karate
Thanks
He’s not just an uke, he is THE Uke, the professional Uke!
When I first thought this I would step as far as I can to the side to get as much pull and off balance as I can. Then the instructors told to step closer in. You don’t get as much off balance or pull and the get countered easier.
Am jst a week old,,,a beginner too,,, tnk u teacher
Wawo. Its. Gooooooooood
cool!
Trying to start it at 18 hope its not too late i did every sport and now i am attracted to judo
Hi, I would like to ask a question. I train jiu jitsu and Yesterday I met a judo black belt/jiu jitsu white belt that I asked a couple of questions to. He asked to use my jacket to demonstrate the proper grips. I let use it, but as he demonstrated he hit me in face/head 3x...I'm a 5'3 woman and he is over 6 feet...how do you handle men who over step boundaries by hitting woman?
As a 6'2 dude, these are my main throws XD
How about the same instructional but this time for the no-gi?
O soto gari is the first throw I learned, but I found it's one of the hardest to pull off. Why isn't o uchi gari the first throw we learn?
"He's a physical therapist." Lololol
Curious why you are using a full grip in the demo? Doesn't Judo teach a three finger grip?
I've got a question - is judo dangerous for brain? I mean brain injuries, small mostly, concussions etc.?
You rarely land on your head, and if you know how to break fall, shouldn't be much of a problem I think
Interesting 🤔 so all dojos really do teach the same 😏 this video is most useful to review things learned in class

This stuff is very intimidating, I feel scared to try
I miss de physics, ... I mean, how do you unbalance in each move? I got to move his center of mass, I think. Would it be forward or sideways? Is it made by your arms or torso?
Afaik off balancing is usually part foot movement, part upper body, and part timing. The direction you off balance depends on the throw

Came here from a random reddit thread.
do we need a poor innocent victim to train and learn those moves?
sadly yes.
To reach the Power of Juda you need to sacrificace a pure soul
eh, probably, but I mean if your brain has way more folds than mine does, it’s possible to learn it (or at least these) through visualization! It’s likely tho that you’d have to have good mind/body connection, like previously doing karate, dancing, skating, rock climbing etc. to be able to FEEL it.
I get the impression that these folks here are really emphasizing feeling it -> success, so there’s also a good likelihood that Judo is harder to visualize than most, esp with so much emphasis on rapidly finding leverage on various sized people! Prolly should take classes imo lolol
my gym won't know what hit em
I’m no Judo expert but that guy seems pretty young to have a red and white belt. My understanding is that’s for Judo sixth dans and up. I’m not being rude or accusing anybody of anything, it’s just the only other Judoka I’ve seen at that high a level have been old men. It’s just surprising.
Shintaro Higashi is one of the youngest Americans ever to reach rokudan. His bonafides are well established. Look him up.

With due respect Sensei, the first thing you teach people in Judo are the ukemis. Also, O-soto-gari is a hard fall in your backs, and without ukemi training, the person being thrown can hurt his head. So, my suggestion is to follow Kodokan's approach, and teach ukemis and then de-ashi-barai.
IMHO, the best way to avoid o-soto-gari is to step back and counter with o-soto-gari.
