Youth is a beautiful thing! Look and listen to this outstanding performance of two incredibly talented younger gentlemen. This, my friends, is how music used to be performed and sound. To think this performance was barely rehearsed makes it all the more stellar! Miss those days a lot!
Wow... Glen and Wayne really harmonized well together and both are consummate performers! I was blessed to see both live several times. Wayne kept everybody captivated by playing over 13 instruments very well, and Glen never performed a bad show in his life.
We all know what a fantastic Guitar player Glen Campbell was... What I had never realized about Wayne Newton is what an incredible Guitar player/musician, he is, until recently. You only have to see him playing Spanish Eyes on one of his TV specials here on TH-cam to be convinced. Two great talents.
God didn't make little green apples. ..nothing more fun than a road trip with a bunch of old treasured songs. Makes everything seem alright. Well, all Right then.
And Wayne wrote in his autobiography how he and the late great Bobby Darin talked about working together, but Darin died about a year prior to this vid.
Where was I forty years ago when this was recorded!!! I have never see this!! In those days the only way you knew your faves were going to be on tv was to read TV guide every week and hope you didn't miss anything and pray you got the channel! Love this.
there are some things I miss and tv guide was one of them. you held it in your hand and flipped the pages. it as fun to look into the future and see what was coming up. there were fewer channels but the entertainment, as evidenced by this video of wayne and glen, was far superior.
OH Thankyou for posting this. What a treasure. And Wayne Newton playing guitar. I never new that. Thanks again for your posts and all the best. Johnny Quintal, Norfolk Island.
Thanks for sharing, Wayne in some ways is the "last man standing" now that Jerry Lee has passed. Wished though that he could have had some hits from the pen of Jimmy Webb, who wrote many for Glen.
I went and saw Wayne Newton Sept 27,2017. The story behind this song is, if you notice how intensely that Wayne is looking at Glen is because , Glen had a habit of putting not so nice words in the song so Wayne was making sure that Glen was singing the same lyrics.
We assume you are being facetious! He has ruined himself with his dyed hair, so many plastic surgeries, he is about 76 now, an oldie for sure, but NOT a goodie!
LOL! His looks were ruined, sadly, with multiple surgeries to look young. It may hurt to look at him, but not because he is easy to look at anymore. Really sad.
They became the TV guitar in the 70s 80s and 90s but lost the throne to Taylor guitars. Most of glens ovations are in the Glen Campbell museum in Nashville I was surprised at how banged up they are fromI was surprised at how banged up they are from many years of use on the road. All those Knicks did not show up on television.
I watched Mr Newton for the 1st time up close in Morongo Casino in California on Nov. 2017. He is a good performer but his voice is no longer thesame with what i hear or has seen in TH-cam. Maybe because of age but he still plays his guitar well though. I still like him
Back then it was considered to be hot ticket for an entertainer to get a guest spot on one of the popular television shows. Specifically, one of the westerns. Sammy Davis Jr. had two on "The Rifleman" and they were very good. Sammy did his won fancy gun twirling tricks. He liked to practice it in real life. I think he was, "Johnny Ringo" in that episode.
Wayne wasn't always cheesy, he was quite a good instrumentalist and singer when he got his start in the 1960's. He 'cheesed' out when he became a Las Vegas glitz metaphor starting in the 1970's. He plays guitar, banjo, fiddle on his 1968 special. th-cam.com/video/c5qq_0q7aiQ/w-d-xo.html
Two phenomenal talents together. Wow

I agree
I will always love you Wayne Newton and Kathy Lamar.
Beautiful Jeff. What a combo.
Two legends right there who will never be equaled! Outstanding!

Two of the best male vocalists there is and Glens one of best guitar players there is. Wayne took over vegas too.
Love it, poor Glen is so missed. Wayne such a great guy, met em both and it was such a thrill. Two great heroes of mine.

Oh, how I love Glen Campbell and his voice and his guitar!!
We were blessed to have these people, I never thought we would ever get old,and lose them, and now look at this nation, what a shame
Beautiful performance. Their harmony and guitar playing so perfect. Thank you for sharing this with us….
These two sound amazing together. Newton couldn’t stop smiling because he was having a ball...and so was I.
Remember when America had talented musical artists? A long time ago
Two wonderfully talented performers. So sad that we lost Glen recently . . .

God didn't make little green apples. ..nothing more fun than a road trip with a bunch of old treasured songs. Makes everything seem alright. Well, all Right then.
Agreed! Especially in the summer, all of the windows down...
This was GREAT!!!!
Wonderful! I didn't know that I needed this. Two great singers and musicians.
Wow what a leading. Love the harmonies.
Can you imagine if these two would have done a few weeks a year, together in Vegas. Just, wow
And Wayne wrote in his autobiography how he and the late great Bobby Darin talked about working together, but Darin died about a year prior to this vid.
TWO SUPER TALENTS, FANTASTIC🎸🎵❣️
I STILL PLAY BOTH OF THEIR C/Ds ALL THE TIME >>>2 POP GEENYUSSES!!!
Great guys. Love them dearly
These are brilliant together my Two favourite singers absolute class
I always thought of Wayne Newton as an almost soprano, but here Glenn Campbell is singing the high harmony.
And as a Beach Boy.
Simply phenominal harmony.
Wayne had such a darn nice voice!
Two greats 🎸
amazing voices
Lucky you he is a very talented performer, love his Spanish Eyes.
Beautiful singing
Beautiful!! Love ‘em both 👏🏻🥰‼️

Becky R This was from a UK TV Special. Was not shown in the USA EVER til this You Tube.

Great Track !!!! Keep Up The Good WOrk
I really like the vibe on this 1
Simon Sillz
Miss both of them, even tho Wayne is still with us.
OH Thankyou for posting this. What a treasure. And Wayne Newton playing guitar. I never new that. Thanks again for your posts and all the best. Johnny Quintal, Norfolk Island.
Johnathonq51 Newton plays 13 instraments.
+Laura Willoughby and that's all in spite of not being able to read a note of music. He learned to play by ear and practice and practice.
Glen Campbell was a master musician but Wayne could hold his own with just about anyone. He had decades of residence in Vegas.
Thank you
Wonderful!!!!
ok, I'm in heaven
These guys always bring it.

WOW!!!LOVE, 💕💕💕🎸🎵
Man he could sing!!!
Wayne is so handsome it hurts to look at him😍
We assume you are being facetious! He has ruined himself with his dyed hair, so many plastic surgeries, he is about 76 now, an oldie for sure, but NOT a goodie!
M.J. Leger I meant here, when he was handsome. Poor Wayne.
@@BeckyBRamsey He was never "handsome" but he was nice looking. But trying to look "forever young" and all that bad plastic surgery ruined him. Sad.
LOL! His looks were ruined, sadly, with multiple surgeries to look young. It may hurt to look at him, but not because he is easy to look at anymore. Really sad.
A musical nugget
Awesome,!
Great musicians.
Those Campbell guitar fills!!! 😳
Love you uncle Wayne
We hope your Uncle is doing well! Thanks for commenting Nancy. :)
They make a good pair of singers!
Great❤❤❤❤
They are both playing Ovation guitars but what ever happened to the company, you never hear of them anymore
STILL AROUND BUT I DON'T SEE MANY PLAYING THEM ANYMORE.....
That round back was a nightmare.

@@ronniebishop2496 You are just used to your Harmony.
@@gymshoe8862 I had an Alvarez and still do. Taylor also.
What a tremendous duet. 😂
Roger Miller medley; he was one of a kind.
Vegas meets Arkansas. I know how Glenn felt.
Just nothing remotely like anything now 2024, what shite music is made now. Just beautiful 😊

Didn't Wayne Newton do a couple episodes of Bonanza?
Noah Fricke Yes he did!
Noah Fricke He also did an episode of Here's Lucy around 1968.
Yes, and there is one where he sang "Danke Schoen".

Noah Fricke - yes he did
Wow.
That was good
This is when newton started to reinvent himself, he went from blonde to black hair
They harmonize beautifully, luv Wayne Newton, Glen Campbell was ok, but I did like his songs too
Wish I had known about how good Wayne Newton is, he was always the butt of jokes so I never gave him a chance. My loss.
Whoops! Well the second song is Bobby Goldsboro.
But Glen also had a hit with little green apples which he sang with Bobbie Gentry!
What year was this? Love it!
+OutdoorSportsDepot filmed April 1975 in London England.
We youst have glin as guest after sow at Wayne dresing rum we had Bar and everyone was drunk
Anyone know the date this was aired? thanks in advance
This aired in the UK only, was a BBC show, taped April 1975, exact air date unknown.
@@NorwoodGlen thank you kindly, God Bless:-)
Are there any musicians / performers anymore ? Today’s “ music “ is crap.
I don't think there is an instrument Wayne can't play.
where is glen campbells beard?
Ryan Limes Glen only wore a beard in the late 70s during the Tanya Tucker years
GLEN CAMPBELL, IS THE ONLY VOICE HERE.
Idiot
Wayne sounds kinda like Marty Robbins
Clark Griswold did not like this song
Was it an era thing? I just find WN so over the top cheesy, maybe it’s just me.

Glen had to tone his talents down quite a bit here, to help keep Waynego in the flow, however I'd sure like to have heard him do this set alone.
GAY!
the masters here
