this is the BEST way to get around NYC...but there's a catch

- citibike has a dirty little secret, and it's just one of many reasons why new yorkers pay so much more for public transit compared to others around the country

you deserve way more subscribers for this kind of video quality!
I literally encountered the same transit dilemma while traveling within brooklyn recently and was considering taking a citi bike, but they're pricey. iirc in SF you get a membership and can use non-electric bikes for free for up to like 45 min a day.
Been loving seeing more nyc focused stuff pop up in my feed recently and both your presence and editing are great!
Here in Toronto, Bike Share Toronto somehow ended up being owned by the Toronto Parking Authority. It's bittersweet, since they clearly have the funds to maintain it and keep prices reasonably low, but is also an ironic double edged sword.
Hell yeah, tax the cars to pay for bikes, I LOVE IT
It actually makes a lot of sense from a land acquisition and dock installation perspective since most of Toronto's Bike Share racks are installed in Green P lots, or former street parking spots, both of which are also controlled by the Toronto Parking Authority.
This is a really good video! I had a coworker who biked around NYC a year ago and ever since then when I'm in NYC I use the Citi eBikes. It really is the best way to go around town and can use some simple improvements
The one difference with Citibike vs lift pink is ebike rides in or out of manhattan are capped at $4.80. Used to be $3 before they jacked the fares and used to be any outer boro ride
The point you made about many people living further than a 15 minute walk from the train station is absolutely crazy to think about. I live in CT and I can walk to the metro north station in 10 minutes from anywhere in town. And if I catch and express, I can be in Grand Central in like an hour and fifteen minutes. Wild to think that so many people in the outskirts can take just as long to get into manhattan when they live in the actual city.
6:09 Bro finally made it out to Prospect Park
really good video!!
thank you!
love the editing man, very interesting mode of transportation that i’ve never thought about before. keep it up!
Excellent video.
I wanna say that one partial solution is buying a folding bike. It does not address the theft issue, nor the convenience of leaving the bike. But it does do everyhing else. Zizzo Liberté for example, $500. That's 2.5 months of Lyft Pink.
plus it goes well in car trunks, trains, airplanes, etc.
2.5 years, not months. Though I do assume owning your own will generally be more convenient than share bikes. It can be a good choice depending on the person.
Lmao the nicotine vape tangent at 3:25 is all I need to subscribe 😆
super high quality video, love it
Good video and editing, hope you grow big
thank you!
keeping the cost less than a subway ride makes a ton of sense
really good video man, keep it up
NYC bikeshare options are so disappointing compared to DC's. In DC, I used the Capital Bikes everyday to do everything, and I never had to worry about the parking spots or price because of the membership.
yes, i wish it was that easy here! i constantly have to debate, "do i value my time or my money more right now", and it would be so nice to not have to worry abt that
Can always get a singlespeed/fixed gear beater that wont be enticing to steal + decent locks and not leaving it outside overnight. Also get a helmet.
this plus an e-bike for commutes/longer distances with safe storage is the way. n+1 bikes is the right number of bikes
Great vid! I am curious what you think of e-scooter ride share programs. Recently, Queens has been receiving a ton of them from lime. Local council members are complaining that it takes up too much valuable sidewalk space in Flushing.
thank you! interestingly enough, i was in chicago a few months back, and their e-scooters actually had the same pins that are on citibikes allowing the scooters to be docked as well. i can understand why people wouldn't want abandoned scooters on the street, but allowing them to be docked like that could be a best of both worlds
Hey Joel, I hope you still remember me. I think you can be a great actor, you should try out for movies!
