I have been binge watching all the Ultras that youtube has to offer. From Sally mcrae to Stringbean, to Eric and love them all..❤️🇨🇦 I watch them as I run for inspiration.
If you are scanning the comments to see if this is worth watching…. Watch it! This was fantastic! I am not even a runner, but someone that appreciates incredible feats of strength and willpower. Truly an excellent documentary with amazing cinematography. 🙏🏼
Thanks so much… I’m an multiple world champion Kickboxing Athlete, and owner of Tiger Spirit Martial Arts academies and thanks for the original post! I love us humans pushing the limits and look for inspirational fitness documentaries that I can learn from.. My daily 06:00 6k run is gonna look like a walk in the park after this.. 👍🏾💯🎯
Amazing film. The way hollyann battled through her injuries to finish was incredible. You could see the pain draining her. Really like to see the next years race to see how they got on
Any running documentary will be time well spent than on shorts/reels. Started running 3 years back and haven't looked back. It changes you mentally, physically. You start to develop respect for athletes, trail runners, marathoners and any sports man because it takes a lot to getup everyday to train for an upcoming event. Your body and mind says no but it is your sheer will that wakes you up to train 3-6 times a week.
Loved it. I felt like I was Hollyann’s personal friend as she struggled through intense pain, then was triumphant. That’s some great moviemaking skills. Awesome docu!!
That's a great movie. Thanks for the inspiration. I loved every minute of it and it's also very motivating. I will run my first 60k in 3 months and then we see from there how far I can go.
For those of us who run long distances on trails, it is very emotional to see documentaries like this one. The main reason is that when you are into a race, your body and mind go into survival mode and you don't have many emotional moments to think about. However, when you see the pain and the endurance through a documentary, all the emotions kick in because you know exactly what these guys went through. Nice work. Well done
I was trying to get into the story but found the non stop music completely overwhelming. I could barely hear the talking over it so gave up 30 minutes in.
Competitive powerlifter here.. Absolutely loved this! Love running docs and the community that surrounds the sport. Amazing work with what you’re doing getting youth into the outdoors as well. Love it.
One of the very best ultra productions I've seen! Love all the titles, timers, maps, and graphics. Many many times it's impossible to know where the runners are and how much time has passed which is so vital to the flow of a running film. My only downer with this one was the music. In the first half, I was literally turning the volume up and down to hear the dialog and not be overwhelmed both by the music. I have no doubt that this is super hard. Yet the second half the fades and momentum were better. This one goes into my ultra saved folder to enjoy again in the future. Good job everyone! Good run, good crews, and a good film.
Hollyann, you are my hero! Way to grit it out and finish that thing! We are so much more capable than what we truly think we are. Can not wait to toe the line in 2023!
Wow, as one of the runners in that inaugural race it’s amazing to see this film! Finished somewhere between the two of them and this gave me so many wonderful flashbacks to different moments and sights along the race.
This race, all who ran it, all who volunteered to help it and all who captured the blood sweat and tears of it in this video have done WV proud. Thanks !!!
Great first 100 mile race!! Dekighted Holly Anne finished !!! The documemtary itself is also great and I watched absorbed to the very end !! Best of luck for 2023 !!
I had never even heard of either of these athletes before but am so proud of them both. Was I the only one watching this that was talking to them urging them on through the pain and problems ?? They are true world class people. Not just athletes, but world class people
One of the best ultra docs I've seen. Great story (for the racers and race directors), amazing footage, and editing. Eyeing the NRG Trifecta after watching this inspirational video!! Great work!
What a fantastic film which brilliantly captures the awesome achievement of the runners, their gratitude, the enormity of the challenge and the amazing support from others. The music to accompany the film is great. Well worth watching. Thank you for sharing.
I love these ultra-marathon documentaries! The athleticism and perseverance demonstrated by these young athletes is so inspiring. I am a hiker and backpacker living in Colorado, and after seeing this gorgeous terrain I am DEFINITELY going to West Virginia for my week-long backpacking warmup in the spring. Stunning!
Really, really enjoyed this documentary. Captured everything nicely. What I didn't love was the sheer number of adverts I had to sit through. Not sure if that's a YT fault or something that's chosen by the channel.
Absolutely well done documentary. Felt many emotions watching it that are recognized by others who run this distance. Really really rooting for Hollyann at the end.
The ending of this film just gave me goose bumps. Not only is this race a great experience for the runners, but it gives so much back to the community. Congratulations to both the runners, the organizers, and the filmmakers.
I ran my first 100 on Aug 27th 2022. The Midwest States 100, I had an awesome time with amazing support and pacers. I cried also, that’s just how it goes. But what a feeling to cross that finish line !!!
Man, that pain experience is something you must never forget. I've never done a 100 miler, and never heard of this one, but it looks amazing. Enticing me for my first 100 next year.... What an amazing documentary!
I ran ultra's for 6 years. You captured the essence of what it means to run, to suffer, to love the challenge. The story, the music...spot on. Well done. Highly enjoyable watch.
Sensational story telling! Remarkable achievement to all athletes and their crews and support staff. That distance in those times is truly unfathomable for most. Cannot imagine how hard it must be!
Nice work on the tapping job. I've no idea if that's the correct technique but like being in the bush and isolated, you'll give anything a go in the hope that it will improve a situation. Sometimes, the placebo effect can be enough. Good on you for being such supportive friends. Also big congrats to the folks who ran the event, huge effort went into it in challenging times. Well done.
Fantastic film! If you enjoy cross country, this is a must-see. Massive respect to the race organizers, the racers, their support crews, and the cinematographers. I've watched several of the very well-known ultras (Hardrock, UTMB, etc), and it's wonderful to see a grassroots effort. I love seeing "everyday people" achieve extraordinary things, not just the superstars of the ultra world. I wish Bryant and Laura all the best with future editions of this race.
Watching this from the UK and this documentary is fantastic. Very emotional in places. Beautiful human beings showing great strength, durability and courage. West Virginians are tough as teak.
100% loved this film! From beginning to end simply great, and the updates at tue end just brought more smiles, keep at it, and great to see people do good for people who normally would not be able to experience such beauty in nature while staying healthy! 5 stars
This is the best film I've watched in a long time. As a runner, I could fill their pain, and the reason for this race is un matched. Your doing so much for so many. Congratulations to you all.
Fantastic to watch - really enjoyed it - pushing the body to the limit - you both should be proud of yourself - looking forward to the next adventure. Thank you so much for sharing this great adventure - respect from the UK :)
Really good, really raw. Great work by both of you guys! With all do respect I really hope she gets a better crew for her next 100. Seeing her show up at mile 95.5 to no one made me sad. Huge props for Caleb for being there almost 10 hours after his winning finish to be the first to greet her there. Great job again guys!
I've watched pretty much every ultra trail doc out there and this is right up there with the best. Great storytelling, beautifully shot, rooting for everyone involved with the event. You should all be very proud.

Thank you so much! We’re so glad you enjoyed the film. The Rim to River team put on an amazing race and we’re so glad Caleb and HollyAnn allowed us to join them in it!
What a great video, thanks for making this. I love this positive and supportive culture. This motivates me to expand my own goals. You guys notice how calm and collected and chill all of these people are at all times? Long distance runners practicing their stoicism! Shoutout to the running community, cool stuff.
